  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 07:45 PM) Don't look now, but Rios is the tying run. Beckham should run back to 1st so that Rios doesn't have to worry about batting with RISP! Just kidding, I still have confidence in Rios.
  2. I get way too excited for a single by Beckham, but I'll take it!
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 08:39 PM) 10-12 more years... haha, we should play a game of who will be on the Sox bench over the next few years. I'd say Eckstein is a definite, and no way we don't acquire T. Hunter in a few seasons. Who else am I missing? Miguel Cabrera in 15 years maybe?
  4. Tony Pena has really been a godsend this season.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 08:36 PM) Or a 2-out double, or a 2 out HR, or an error on a throw, lots of things that can happen. But with Konerko at 1st, would he even score on a double?
  6. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 07:34 PM) That's Gary Bettman for ya. NBA didn't need to have 2 nights off in between games 1 and 2
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 07:34 PM) I'd rather have him take the walk. Even in a good year, the odds of him hitting a HR on 1 swing are only a couple percent. But what's the chances of 3 consecutive two-out singles?
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 07:34 PM) Heh, either he missed the bag or he stepped on Penas foot. Either way he should have been out. Worst call of the week!!
  9. If you're Juan Pierre or Vizquel or Beckham (this year), etc. then you bet your ass you should be taking 3-0. The thing is, the opposition knows our hitters won't swing, so they just throw meatballs on the 3-0 pitch. Next thing you know, it's 3-1 pitch and our hitters are grounding out weakly.
  10. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 08:27 PM) So do I, and you're full of s***, Fathom. It's a leaguewide trend, just like so many other things in baseball are. Soon enough, hitters will start swinging 3-0 again, when it becomes apparent that pitchers are laying it in there on 3-0/ Kalapse has to have a stat about this!!
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 08:25 PM) You're the last guy I'd expect to be arguing that OBP is a bad thing. For your power hitters, and especially our team with such a weak top/bottom of the order, I'd rather see guys swinging from their heels in that position. All you're doing if you walk in front of AJP or Kotsay is setting up the 4-6-3.
  12. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 08:23 PM) You and Fathom are just parroting the exact conversation Stone and Hawk had last night. We've been saying this for 2 months now. I watch a ton of games on the MLB Package, and nearly every other team gives their power hitters the 3-0 green light.
  13. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 08:23 PM) I don't give a damn who the player is. You take on 3-0 EVERY SINGLE TIME. Why, so you can draw a walk? I'd prefer a hit with the chances of an extra base hit.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 08:22 PM) I can't even find a creative response to this. You're comparing Lakers/Celtics to the WNBA? I can understand why you'd prefer the Hockey game, but don't begrudge those of us who'd like to watch the basketball game. I've enjoyed the NBA playoffs this year. If the Hawks weren't in the Stanley Cup, I wouldn't watch a second of hockey.
  15. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 08:22 PM) Why, because people haven't jumped off a bridge yet? The conversation has remained more about substance for the most part than people saying how they'll never watch a game again, etc.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 08:19 PM) GMAFB. How thrilled were we last night when AJ grounded out softly with 3-0? How many 3-0 groundouts do we need? It's not the likes of AJP that should be getting the 3-0 green light. More like Konerko/Quentin/Rios/Jones. Instead, we get Nix, AJP, and Kotsay getting the green light.
  17. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 08:19 PM) Completely agree. I mean, coming into the season we had Beckham to look forward to. But it's June 6th, and he's still clueless at the plate. And we all know how much our farm system sucks. We have no legit talent down there who can come up and provide for this team. And two of the 5 potential difference-making prospects suffered horrible injuries this season costing them an entire year of development.
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 07:18 PM) So emotional, this group. Deep breaths. I've actually been amazingly surprised at how well we've handled this terrible season on this board.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 08:17 PM) Really? You think part of the problem with these guys is not being sufficiently aggressive? No, better approach at the plate. Since Ozzie won't fire Walker, then Ozzie needs to go in order to get a new hitting coach installed. I wish we'd just get rid of all the coaches, including KW. Time to start over, and have a group of characters that don't have more job security than a bosses' son.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 08:14 PM) The real question you have to ask is...can you find a manager who will do a better job with the future of the team? Yes, I believe you can find a manager who handles the rebuilding movement better. Ozzie's never been one that enjoys using young players, and heck, maybe young players are scared of him? Also, some changes in philosophy, such as being more aggressive with 3-0 hitting would be nice to see.
  21. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 08:13 PM) Is this the worst time in recent memory to be a White Sox fan? Take into account the state of the minor league organization and the fact that the 2007 team was crippled by injuries. Yes, without a doubt. There's really not much to be excited about regarding the future of this team over the next 2-3 years.
  22. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 07:10 PM) on just about any other team but this one. I don't care what konerko or anyone else says, they've given up. Well, Konerko is a terrible leader, so no one should care what he says anyways.
  23. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 07:07 PM) 7 in a row retired by a pitcher who is a shell of his former self. And I guarantee gets more in a trade in the next month than anyone besides Thornton possibly could.
  24. I'm actually getting excited at possible personnel changes in the next 24 hours. This is definitely a manager terminated-esque season/home stand.
