  1. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 02:10 AM) Just one? I have like 8 this year. They all suck. And while Rios is a really solid player while hitting like this (and I'm serious there), it's not like he's got a 950+ OPS for his 12 mil. I laughed when Teahen was one of the choices for most surprising player. You mean the guy hitting .273 with 2 homers? Crap, how low were people's expectations for him?
  2. Peavy's finishing off his pitches much better now, which is great to see.
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 12:54 AM) Ozzieball. Does Hawk really believe the umpires have a conspiracy against the Sox? Yes he does...he's also very impressed with Juan Pierre's all around game. Nothing like a one tool player.
  4. 1 f***ing hit in 3 innings against a pitcher who's down 7 mph with their velocity. Who's the fall guy when we get swept on this road trip?
  5. The most intriguing storyline the rest of the way is if Ozzie and KW will have the balls to DFA Vizquel.
  6. Holy s***, Pierre just needs to go back to Louisiana.
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 01:49 AM) As much as I hate Terry Boers talking about his "people" who tell him all the rumors, maybe he is actually right about this one. Peavy has yet to prove me wrong on it. Terry Boers is almost always right, as his people are guys like Rick Hahn, etc.
  8. Playing for a contender? San Diego was competitive for the most part when he was there, and let's not forget he has about as bad of a reputation in big games as Javy Vazquez.
  9. Jim Thome has an OPS around 1.15....yuck
  10. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 01:48 AM) Nothing will make me happier than a nice rest of the game from Peavy, which includes good velocity, location, and movement. Agreed, I'm sure we're still all rooting for him (besides jphat maybe).
  11. QUOTE (bobryansson @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 01:47 AM) So, I was thinking, which is dangerous, does anyone think the "Peavy is injured," rumor is a way call his time off (DL) and visit to Charlotte (Birmingham?) "rehab." No, I think he's truly injured. The first red flag was Ozzie having to defend him during ST with the media.
  12. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 01:45 AM) This team is making the 2007 team seem exciting. I'll take this squad thanks to Santos and Beckham.
  13. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 01:45 AM) I don't know when, but he was healthy last year in his several starts for the Sox. I don't think he has aged that quickly over seven months. I still didn't think he looked overly impressive last season with the Sox. His fastball wasn't overly crisp, but we excused it cause of the lay off.
  14. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 12:44 AM) I'd consider it. I absolutely would do it, as Zambrano at least throws a sinker and doesn't have huge health concerns like Peavy. I also think the whole switch to the AL has destroyed Peavy's confidence.
  15. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 12:43 AM) I actually think Harden is worse than Peavy right now. Worse velocity and location. We're just not hitting anything. agreed, he has nothing. Ugh, this team is just terrible and boring.
  16. So would you trade Peavy for Zambrano now?
  17. I don't even care about Peavy's contributions to the 2010 team. I'm a hell of a lot more concerned that we have the AL version of Barry Zito on our hands. If Peavy is a below average starter in the AL, we're absolutely screwed.
  18. QUOTE (jphat007 @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 12:39 AM) That Maggs guy is pretty awesome. Detroit ain't beatin Minny this year, but at least they'll be fun to watch for Tigers fans. They'll get someone decent from the Yankees when they trade Damon to them.
  19. I feel like we're watching the battle of Sammy Sosa against Mark McGwire on the mound. Where did both of these guys fastball go?
  20. The thing is, Peavy's current "stuff" just isn't good enough to consistently get hitters out. There's absolutely no bite on his slider, and his fastball is average. When you add in the bad location and the pathetic change-up, there's not really much hope for an immediate rebound.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 12:31 AM) He's definitely not finishing off pitches. What how his arm snaps back almost as soon as he lets it go. Exactly, it's something that was obvious in his 2nd start in Toronto. It's why so many pitches are fading towards his right.
  22. QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 12:30 AM) can we please stop using the "F" in between Peavys initials Wait, it doesn't stand for flop?
  23. Well, at least we get to see Sergio Santos. It's bad when I think firing KW would be better for this organization than firing Ozzie.
  24. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 12:26 AM) He's done some sort of move after a couple of pitches that would indicate a shoulder issue. Something isn't right. He doesn't walk this many people. I completely agree, he's not finishing his pitches at all. It's the main reason that he has no bite on his slider. They might as well DL him, as he's not helping this team right now.
