QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 12:52 AM) Finger injury. Ha, what a shocker
-
Pods really has to stop with that slap crap with 2 strikes. He's been struggling with that. Also, think Alexei will ever realize Twins are going to throw him first pitch offspeed for every AB?
-
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 11:51 PM) I probably make the move if it's Fields and Poreda. At his peak, I think Poreda turns into Sherrill. I would agree with this, as it would also allow you to move Jenks this offseason.
-
QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 11:41 PM) I'd be down for this. If it's Fields and Hudson for Sherrill, that would be an awful trade!!
-
Is he going to buy Jenks an expensive bottle of Pepsi instead?
-
QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 12:29 AM) I'd be down for some Jarrod Washburn. At this point, why would we want him? Seattle would probably ask for Alexei, Gordon, or a combo of Flowers and someone else. Fly ball pitchers in our park = not good, and it's not like we need another lefty. I bet Washburn goes to Milwaukee, which would also be a mistake as that team has no prayer of catching the Cubs/Cards.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 12:31 AM) Chris Young. I don't even consider counting him, as it's not like he got to spend a few seasons with Greg Walker.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 12:28 AM) Honestly, I would but into this crap if there was a pattern of guys who had failed to hit here and then moved onto other organizations where they started living up to their "potential." But it just hasn't happened. We haven't had guys leaving here and suddenly turning into all-stars elsewhere. I think Fields will be the best example in the future for judging Walker's ability.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 11:24 PM) I don't hold nearly as much against Walker for Anderson never developing as I do for others in the org. Fields though, that would be 95% on Walker. He got worse with time. Considering that everyone says that Walker has no say with the veterans, when you start having to trade away failed first round picks with ENORMOUS power, that is an epic fail by your hitting coach.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 11:21 PM) Unless it's a close game tonight and we need a LHP to come out of the bullpen to face a tough left handed batter. Thankfully, Minny doesn't have any of those, right? Richard should not be pitching today.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 11:20 PM) When Josh Fields is traded and some other team works with him on his swing, perhaps in the NL, I think that's one we're really going to wind up regretting. If we trade Fields today, I will remember the transactions as a pretty pathetic day for Greg Walker's ability.
-
QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 11:17 PM) all right these moves scream 2nd place!!!!! I believe this is the opposite of a youth movement. At least hopefully Richard's arm will get a few weeks to recover from the long outings he's had recently.
-
KW, unless it's someone who will be with the Sox for another 2 years after this year, please don't trade Hudson!!
-
Brian Anderson traded to Red Sox for Mark Kotsay
fathom replied to Jimmywins1's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Kotsay has a pretty hot wife, I believe. He sucks though. -
My prediction is we're going to see Fields and a big prospect like Hudson sent to Baltimore for Sherrill, and it wouldn't surprise me if KW expands the deal to include someone like Scott or Huff.
-
Sometimes I hate the veteran player mindset a few team officials with the Sox have.
-
IIRC, the first month or so, the Sox were doing a lot more damage from the 6th inning on than they were from innings 1-5.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 05:06 AM) It's possible. I still like the Giants. They need to acquire two more hitters still, as Garko won't do much in that park.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 04:03 AM) It's going to come down to them and the Cardinals. Matt Holiday is fitting in quite nicely. Derosa has been raking since coming off the DL. Ludwick is on fire. And they have Pujols. In other words, they have the best offense in that pathetic league outside of the Phillies. It's gonna come down to pitching. Carpenter/Wainwright is as good as any 1-2 in the division. If Pineiro and Lohse can just continue doing what they've been doing, no more or less, I like the Cardinals chances. I think they both end up making it
-
QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 04:59 AM) Poreda? Ha, sadly I forgot him.
-
Walkoff slam for Soriano...yeah, this baseball season is beginning to suck. Ironic he hit that just as the Buehrle thing came up on Letterman.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 03:51 AM) I understand what you're saying, but I think the value of prospects are getting a bit out of hand right now. The entire reason they became so valuable over the last several years is because of the STEEP financial cost of proven quality veterans. However, now that cost has decreased. If quality veterans are available at reasonable prices, then the value of prospects correspondingly decreases, and the best move becomes to trade some of these kids you're not particularly high on... I want prospects added to the system to increase KW's ability to make bigger acquisitions in the offseason. Right now, our system is pretty thin if you consider Beckham and Richard to no longer be prospects. You're only looking at 5 or so legit guys in Danks, Dex Carter, Hudson, Viciedo, and Flowers (and potentially Mitchell)
-
QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 04:51 AM) Well, they did face the Nats and Reds. the Nationals aren't a terrible hitting team
-
Why can no one hit the Cubs pitching? Outside of the Lilly game against Philadelphia, their pitching has been amazing since the ASB.
-
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 03:18 AM) KW will NOT be a seller, even if we lose every game from now until August 1st and Detroit/Minnesota win every single one. But maybe he'll be more willing to if the offense continues to struggle and we fall 7-8 games out come August 15th.
