QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Feb 24, 2009 -> 02:01 AM) I didn't say the situations were exact replicas of each other, but the parallel is quite clear. Both were beloved franchise players, who turned to the "dark side" I'm sure it's just me, but the "dark side" for the White Sox would be the Cubs.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Feb 24, 2009 -> 01:08 AM) This is pretty much our equivalent of Damon going from the Red Sox to the Yankees. Like Damon, Crede is the villain of the piece. I hold no ill will towards Joe just frustration over how he and his agent handled the contract situation. Just another example of how much of a commitment the Danks family has to this organization, they made some concessions, Crede vehemently did not. No it's not...Boston wanted Damon back, and the White Sox didn't want Crede back.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Feb 23, 2009 -> 10:13 PM) Assuming Owens and Getz get spots in the starting lineup, Viciedo goes to the Minors and the Sox go with 12 pitchers that leaves 4 bench spots. The backup catcher and Betemit are locks so there are two open spots. Out of Lillibridge, Nix, Wise and Anderson who are you taking? From what I was told, Nix is a longshot to make the squad.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 23, 2009 -> 09:46 PM) The guy has been given exactly one chance, and that was back in 2006. He sucked for the first half, and picked his game up the second half. Since then, he's been given no regular playing time to get any kind of consistency going. We'd be such a better team if Owens just goes 0 for Spring Training or the other thing happens that happened to him last season.

Dave Wilder saga takes another interesting turn

QUOTE (scenario @ Feb 23, 2009 -> 04:20 PM) The Wilder affair is a pretty sordid and twisted situation, isn't it? A 'rising star' as a baseball executive... then... Skimming on signing of Latin American prospects... Losing over $500,000 investing in a gay nightclub in Phoenix called "Club Burn"... And now reporting an income of $7.50/hour. All in the period of a couple of years. Wilder belongs in jail for what he did. It's karma that he got f'd in the ass by his nightclub investment. -
Did they have to censor out a dancer's boob at the end of that strong?

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 08:26 PM) Krabbenhoft is a SR and Bohannon and Hughes are JRs. Yep, that means they're in the upper echelon of most experienced teams in the country. I hate how sites use everyone on the roster to determine the average experience for a team. All that matters is the top 6 or 7 performers. -

What happened at the end of the Illini game? I was watching the end of the entertaining Syracuse/'Nova game, and didn't know the Illini game was close. -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Feb 22, 2009 -> 03:18 AM) McDermott better do anything he can to retain Brackins next year. Otherwise, I really believe he will be fired at the end of next year. Brackins will go pro...he's flying up the charts right now. -

Blake Griffin suffers a concussion...I doubt he'll be back in 48 hours to face Kansas. -

QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Feb 21, 2009 -> 05:39 PM) Was there not a new episode of The Office on Thursday? My DVR didn't record it if there was. Nope, it was a 2008 episode.

As someone else said, I'm much more concerned with the possibility of the Twins acquiring Juan Cruz.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 21, 2009 -> 03:28 PM) I didn't realize it was the last show. What happened on it? Lots of highlight clips. Andy returned, and then Conan gave a cool 10 minute thank you speech at the end.

Last "Late Night with Conan" on in 10 minutes.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Feb 21, 2009 -> 02:00 AM) I have heard, but more importantly seen with my own eyes the love affair the organization with Owens. Only an injury(like last year) is going to keep Owens out of CF, at least to start the season. Yep, I couldn't agree more. I think we all are wondering if Jerry Owens groin will make another appearance.
-
Rogers also stated that Getz is way in the driver's seat to be the starting 2nd baseman. I like how he stated that if Getz can leadoff, then Anderson would be the starter and hit 9th. I think that's the scenario we all would like to see the most.

The Twinkie Dome is a terrible place for Crede to hit. It's deep to left and left center, and caters to players who can drive the ball to right field. As the stats show, Crede's one of the worst in baseball with regards to opposite field power.

QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Feb 19, 2009 -> 11:24 PM) I know it's the "in" thing to make fun of Hansbrough's chances, but there's no reason he couldn't do what Udonis Haslem has done in the NBA. Their game, body, athleticism, and shooting ability from 15-18 feet are very similar. I respect the hell out of Hansbrough, even though I feel like Harangody's surpassed him in ability this season. Hansbrough's becoming automatic with his jumper though.

BTW 101, don't get me wrong about the Illini's future. With Howard at the recruiting helm, they have a great hold on the state of Illinois (especially with DePaul's pathetic coach). They should continue to have top 10-15 recruiting classes. They just have to hope Richmond and Head continue to mature on/off the court. -
As Boers and Bernstein were saying, watch that 2nd pick acquired today be used on either Hansbrough or Harangody.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 19, 2009 -> 10:42 PM) Did you really just compare Tech to Illinois? Illinois like Tech has some really good players coming in soon, but unlike Tech has a coach that can handle them. The Illinois program is way better than Tech right now, and the gap will only widen in the future. Please don't let your Illinois dislike distort reality. Hewitt is a terrible coach, but even he might be bringing in a recruiting class that could make anyone look like a good coach. I don't see how you can say one program is better than the other right now besides their performance on the court this season. GT has the #3 recruiting class in the country (Udofia is the pure pg they desperately lack this season), and with Shumpert and Lawal now expected to return, they should be a top 20 team when you put one of the best players in the country added to the bunch in Favors. As much as I hate Hewitt, he sure has had a ton of bad luck the past few years with Crittenton's early entry and injuries/departures.
