Another thing about Thursday night..ESPN should be ashamed of allowing Digger Phelps to announce an ND game and Bardo an Illinois game. Both of them were extremely obnoxious homers during the game. Phelps was making it a 2 hour debate about how ND should make the tournament. -
I hate Nate Robinson so much.

Spain should protest the NBA after this discrimination tonight.

You have to be f***ing kidding me that Howard gets a 50 on that dunk. It's so fixed to get a final of Howard/N-Rob.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Feb 12, 2009 -> 05:21 AM) A lot of reports and interviews say that he is really trying to become a rapper and none of it is a fake. Other reports say it's some kind of movie prank a la Borat, like you mentioned. Who knows? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXpYk7WGN5Y

Anyone see him on Letterman tonight? I've heard rumors that him and Casey Affleck are working on a Borat-esque documentary in which he tries to be a rapper and acts crazy. If that's not true.....he's in worse shape than Roberto Alomar.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 11, 2009 -> 05:45 PM) Not true, really. He makes tons of money and was in great shape, one would think he could get the best medications, etc. However, had he not known, he probably would be in trouble, though people can live with HIV for an extremely long time. He was 17 what? 20 years ago? Magic's had it about that long. However, just because he was raped when he was 17 that doesn't even mean that's when he contracted the disease. He could have contracted it any year since then, since it seems he's not a fan of using protection. But the thing is that he supposedly didn't even know about it until 5 years or so ago. I can't believe the annual physicals that players go through wouldn't have turned up anything until the last 5-6 years. Part of Magic's ability to fight it off was the early diagnosis. Your final statement is exactly right..and that's what I was trying to get across. Wasn't he married to Mary Pierce? If this is all true, I'm just shocked we're hearing about it now and not a few years ago.

A baseball team will allow a company to put their sponsorship logo on their uniform.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 11, 2009 -> 04:41 PM) I would imagine within the circles there have been rumors that he's either bisexual or homosexual. It was more that there was just something big going on behind the scenes with him. It's funny, as his dad is known as one of the biggest scum bags in baseball, while Sandy Jr. is one of the classiest individuals.

Something about this doesn't add up. If Alomar contracted HIV when he was 17, he more than likely would have passed away by now. Also, with the progression of symptoms like the woman was talking about, he likely would have passed away (the mass in the chest is usually the beginning of the end for AIDS patients). As DAllen said above, there's been questions about Alomar's sexuality before, and I hope he doesn't feel the need to cover it up by stating the story about being raped.

So Chris Brown beat the s*** out of Rhianna? Not a smart move.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 9, 2009 -> 02:35 AM) I thought he was on the stuff in his Cleveland days, so I guess it's hypocritical to say I don't think he is on it. However, I guess I am less suspecious of him now because at least as far as I can remember, he's always been that massive. Plus, I'm a sucker in that if somebody is as nice as him, i'm not as suspecious, even though that's bad logic. Thome was a toothpick when he first came up with Cleveland compared to his physique now. Of course, I'm like you, and would like to give the nice guys the benefit of the doubt. On the other hand, we've been burned enough with these baseball players where it's hard to say "they just gained a lot of weight as they got older".

QUOTE (WCSox @ Feb 8, 2009 -> 11:36 PM) My guess is that Frank, Thome, and Manny are all clean. Their physiques don't suggest steroid use (although HGH use is still a possibility). Griffey was never a workout freak and didn't even include stretching in his routine until his 30's (a dumb decision that most likely lead to his many leg injuries), so I would guess that he probably wasn't a PED guy, either. Pujols, on the other hand... man, I just don't get a good feeling about him. I hope I'm wrong. It's dangerous to start calling out people based on their physiques, unless it's something obvious (like Sosa). If you ask a non-Sox fan, Thome's probably one of the first guys they mention about a suspicious physique due to his just massive build.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 7, 2009 -> 09:12 PM) Schoenweis doesn't count? He's already Mitchell Reported. Anyway, I still have 1 or 2 guys from that clubhouse I have suspicions about, at least one of whom was named by Canseco, but it's worth noting that by the time they got to 2005, the testing was already fully installed, although it couldn't detect everything, so the team that I'd be more worried about scares me less than you'd think. And I still come back to the fact that it seemed like if you were in the Sox clubhouse in the early 2000's and wanted to do that stuff, you might want to keep it out of the clubhouse, because there was a very big man with baseball bats who didn't seem to like that. Yep, the 2005 White Sox were probably the cleanest team in the last 15 years (prior to that year) to win the WS.
-
QUOTE (wsgdf_2 @ Feb 7, 2009 -> 04:43 PM) Just out of curiosity... why do you want him to be clean? He's always looked like a big mass of steroids to me... What's worse is his first 5-6 seasons have made Frank's first 5-6 seasons look a little less remarkable. I want him to go down! Because he's the best pure hitter I've seen in my lifetime...but like you said, he does look like a PED user and there's been tons of speculation about him being on PEDs.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 7, 2009 -> 05:40 PM) You wouldn't be upset if it turned out that Big Frank was using them? Looking back on that generation, I'd like to think that at least Griffey and Thomas weren't using. If they go down, what heroes do we have left? Ripken? Gwynn? Mattingly? Certainly not Puckett, with all the unfortunate things we've heard about his off-field issues. Nope, Frank was never one of my favorite players.
