QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 24, 2009 -> 01:42 AM) Clayton gets out of it. Six scoreless innings, just four hits. Hell of a job. Turn it over to the pen. Poor San Diego...Richard could have been a hell of a pitcher for them at Petco. I'm glad we have him.

I'll take it!!!! Hell of a performance by Richard.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 24, 2009 -> 01:41 AM) You can tell Richard is out of gas, but Adam LaRoche decides he wants to suck. This is just terrible managing by Cora right now.

That really needs to be it for Richard. Why are we letting him face the righty when he's at 105 pitches?

QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ May 24, 2009 -> 01:39 AM) I would still give Fields some more time. Either way, I would hate to see Gordon move to a corner IF spot. I couldn't agree more. Moving him to 3rd would really diminish his above average ability as a middle infielder.

Not really sure why Richard was left in to face Monroe. He's now at the 100 pitch mark, and his pitches are all over the place. Tying run to the plate.

QUOTE (OilCan @ May 24, 2009 -> 01:36 AM) Fathom, I hope you're right, but just like your tagline, Mr. Pessimism, I dunno... I could very well see SLAYER! go to SS and Lexi @ 2b. KW can still make a trade for a 3B if he feels that Tank will take a little longer to develop... Ozzie has reiterated every chance he can that Alexei will be our SS now and in the future.

Leadoff double for Pirates. Cora needs to get Dotel up in the pen. Can't let Richard get into too much trouble.

Alexei is staying at SS, I can guarantee that. Beckham's playing at SS tonight.

That a boy Alexei!!! 2 run homer...I love him in the 2nd spot.

Contreras just imploded in the 4th inning. 5 straight reached on him, including a walk and HBP.

Fields hits another weak ball that only he can do. It's time to get rid of him, who knows what happened, but his career with Sox needs to end.

Very nice catch by Quentin on a play at the wall.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 24, 2009 -> 01:14 AM) Fields and AJ would be wise to do the same. It's not like the pitches are that good half of the time either. I'm fine with Fields doing it, as he's struggled when down in the count this season.

Quentin has got to stop swinging at the first pitch. He's making himself too easy of an out. It was amazing to see last night how far over towards center the RF was for the Pirates.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 23, 2009 -> 11:48 PM) Actual good swings or good swings as compared to the normal Fields/Getz swing? No, they both did what they were supposed to do. Just hit it right at people. Ohlendorf has nothing on his pitches, and he's up in the zone with his sinker. This team continues to be one of the worst scoring teams in the first 3 innings of a game I've ever seen.

Some bad luck this inning on good swings by Getz and Fields.

2009 MLB Pre-Draft Discussion
After my initial review of the Baseball America 2009 Draft Preview, I feel like the Sox will take Jared Mitchell with their first pick. KW's comments about taking a speedy outfielder (potential leadoff) and the comparison to Carl Crawford might be too much for KW to ignore.

Who do you root for tomorrow night?
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 23, 2009 -> 04:47 AM) Will someone please point out the quote that says "I, Jake Peavy, rejected the trade to the Chicago White Sox because they play in the AL and I will not play in the AL because I have a small pair of testicles" or something of the ilk? He turned the trade down mainly because the final year of his deal wasn't guaranteed, it's as simple as that. Just based off of his actions this offseason, when he wasn't interested in going to Boston or Yankees but was begging to get traded to the Cubs or the Braves.

That would have been a worse case scenario if the Cubs came back to win that game. Peavy pitched well, but Cubs are struggling offensively and Peavy stranged a lot of runners in the first few innings.

Official 2008-2009 NBA Thread
QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ May 23, 2009 -> 05:17 AM) Is James the best player in the NBA today?Do we need to see a Kobe and James Finals to decide it?Or the fact that James won the MVP decided it...I still think Kobe has the edge because I think his overall offensive game is more complete and a better defender though James is a better ball distributor.I also put Wade in the debate but he is out of the playoffs so I'm focusing on these two. I've seen both play a lot, and LeBron is clearly the better player this year. I'd say that Wade was better than Kobe this year.

Congrats LeBron, haven't seen a buzzer beater like that in a long time.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 23, 2009 -> 04:09 AM) His AB quality is starting to drop. Yeah, he's had good ABs compared to some of the rest of the jabronis, but there's no way he should be batting 2nd. It's getting scary with Quentin. He's just rolling over everything.

If Fields has another bad week, Beckham's going to be playing 3rd base in Chicago come June.
