  1. The "9 Innings From Ground Zero" special on HBO about this World Series is fantastic.
  2. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jan 26, 2009 -> 11:36 PM) "He told me last year was his most miserable year in baseball," one scout said obviously there was a lot going on in that club house regarding oc that we dont know about. Yet people still try to argue that there was no problem with OC in the clubhouse and his teammates loved him.
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 26, 2009 -> 10:44 PM) He's been called overweight by people who have never seen him play in person and only have gritty youtube videos to grade out on. We dont even know anything true outside of what Cubano tells us. He gets signed by the Red Sox and he's a power hitter growing into his body who will challenge A-rod for superiority at the hot corner offensively. It's like how people b**** about Miguel Cabrera getting so heavy. Who the f*** cares, as long as they hit, they can be as fast as they want. These players will get their ass in shape when they have the chance to sign a 8 yr contract.
  4. The Rumble match lately has been tame. Like Milkman said, anyone could have predicted the final 5 or so guys in the ring.
  5. I can't wait for the day a ref T's up Harangody for his b****ing after EVERY shot he misses. He also just got away with a flagrant foul on Thabeet under the hoop.
  6. Ramon Harris, a starter on Kentucky, collapsed in the locker room at halftime and Gillespie went with him to the hospital. Judging by the Kentucky board, it's quite serious.
  7. Even though I disagree, hell of a post and welcome. Sheets does have good stuff, but he'll leave a game injured about 3-5 times a season.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 24, 2009 -> 04:57 PM) That's the one where the kid manages the Twins, right? Pretty clever movie...much better than Mr. Baseball! The Natural and Bull Durham have to be up there in the Top 5 as well. I guess the very first Major League deserves some kudos as well. I remember going to a couple of Indians games in Memorial Stadium where basically anything you wanted to say to the LF could be heard by the entire outfield and the few fans sitting in the bleacher seats out there. Yes, it's the one where Piniella brings in Randy Johnson to close out the tiebreak game and Griffey Jr. robs a homer to end the game. For as smart as Billy, the manager was....why did he pitch to Griffey Jr. in such a big spot?

QUOTE (BobDylan @ Jan 24, 2009 -> 04:40 PM) You do realize that it was a true story, right? Yes, and would have been a hell of a lot more entertaining if it focused on the serial killer and not the Jolie's character.
  10. Tigers have nowhere to go but up from last season. They're my pick to win the division.
  11. QUOTE (JDsDirtySox @ Jan 24, 2009 -> 07:54 PM) Indiana Fan? Sadly, Georgia Tech and wherever someone from Homewood-Flossmoor High School plays.
  12. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jan 24, 2009 -> 08:16 PM) Im not trying to really argue you here, but why is this? Just some of his tactics in the media (ie: Self's funeral) and that he always seems to have excuses. There's other stuff, regarding recruiting, that I don't feel like getting into.
  13. QUOTE (sircaffey @ Jan 24, 2009 -> 07:32 PM) Why? He has quality stuff, great command, and is used to pitching in a good hitter's park. His stuff plays anywhere, against anyone. He throws a ton of high fastballs. Whenever I saw him face a good hitting team, like the Cubs (AL caliber lineup), they knocked his stuff all around the park.
  14. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jan 24, 2009 -> 08:12 AM) I'll never give this up. You won't find a poster on here who hates UIUC more than I do, as I think Weber is a whiny scumbag. With that in mind, UIUC would dominate ISU right now. The Illini are a hell of a defensive squad, and losing Pruitt/Randle is the best thing that could have ever happened to that program.
  15. QUOTE (rangercal @ Jan 24, 2009 -> 04:59 PM) why don't we have the money? Ask JR...but every move being made seems to make it seem like the Sox are being aggressive in dealing with the idea of economics messing up attendance and sponsorships this upcoming season.
  16. We don't have the money to do this, and Sheets will be in for a rough time if he pitches in the AL.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 24, 2009 -> 01:59 PM) Fathom, did you at least like Field of Dreams or Eight Men Out, lol? Sure...but they're no Little Big League.

    QUOTE (BobDylan @ Jan 24, 2009 -> 12:54 PM) Please explain.
  19. QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Jan 24, 2009 -> 04:04 AM) Bulls lose again. How long until a shakeup? I particularly liked them taking out Rose with about 6 minutes left in a close game, only to turn the game back on a few minutes later and see it was a blowout.
  20. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jan 24, 2009 -> 12:06 AM) If Griffey is actually "suspected" of anything, (can't believe I'm actually seeing this stuff posted with my own eyes) then that means you would also include Frank in that group considering they were both the biggest backers against any enhancing drug use since the mid 90's. Hell, Pujols is probably the most secretive user back in the early 2000s, but of course he's getting praised, even though he's a tremendous player. I will say this again.. when/where/how did all the Bonds love come all of a sudden? Where were you guys one/two years ago? I've always been a fan of Bonds, and have clamored for the Sox to sign him the past few seasons. And I honestly don't want to get into this, but I've also never stated that Frank was 100 pct clean. You never know what goes through a player's mind when his skills start to diminish and they have to overcome debilitating injuries while they see everyone around them using PEDs and getting big contracts.
  21. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 24, 2009 -> 12:57 AM) I didn't think I was going to have to qualify this statement or state the reasoning again that I assumed was common knowledge but obviously nobody is 100% free of suspicion. Fair enough...good argument, and I hope the hero of Little Big League isn't tainted.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jan 24, 2009 -> 12:25 AM) You didn't like Changeling? Holy crap, how did that happen? Such an excellent excellent film. I didn't like it because I felt it was incredibly boring and could have easily been a 30 minute TV show instead of a drawn out 2 hour snooze fest.
  23. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 23, 2009 -> 11:37 PM) Yeah I know, at that point Bonds was a leadoff hitter IIRC and Griffey was a #3 hitter. I'm just saying if Griffey's #'s had been steroid-inflated he would have these video game-esque OBPs that Bonds was putting up too. Ken Griffey Jr. must have the greatest publicist in history, as it's amazing he's never been questioned about PED use. With all the freak tendon injuries he had and just unheard of home run totals, he's someone who I don't believe you can say was 100 pct clean.

So I was forced into seeing Mall Cop today...and it wasn't bad at all. Great soundtrack, and I'd have to say it was infinitely more entertaining than the last movie I saw at the theater, Changeling.
