  1. QUOTE (daa84 @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 12:48 AM) jerrys owens still blows btw He looked slower than usual.
  2. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 11:45 PM) Its the same lineup as everynight, sans Q. This is what we are going to battle with down the stretch. Uribe is 3-10 with 2b and 2 homers in his career against Carmona.
  3. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 11:42 PM) Our offense must think its cold out. They shut down again. The pre-game talk is all about patience and the pucker rangers are out there hacking away. Our defense also is the suck. We are doing everything possible to give this division away. Look at our lineup tonight. Are you actually expecting a big offensive showing?
  4. QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 11:40 PM) What you said last night appears to be true, unfortunately. Well, when it's straight from him, I tend to think it's going to be true. His pitches aren't crisp at all.
  5. QUOTE (daa84 @ Sep 3, 2008 -> 12:38 AM) danks can't locate...ungood Shades of last season, where his mechanics go to hell because he falls off to much to the 3rd base side.
  6. Joe Crede continues one of the worst defensive seasons I've ever seen.
  7. What in the hell do we have to do to get Swisher and Crede out of the lineup?
  8. QUOTE (scenario @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 10:22 PM) Where did you see that? In the articles I read (Trib and SunTimes), it seemed that he was struggling with command, but I didn't see any mention of speed. Comcast this morning. They said his splitter was as good as it's been all season.
  9. I heard that BP has the Twins at 79 pct likely to win the AL Central. I don't think it should be nearly that high.
  10. CQ needs to be healthy and playing at a high level for this team to have a chance at the postseason.
  11. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 09:38 PM) Owens in LF, Quentin scratched. Well Ozzie gets what he wanted to put together on opening day. Thank god the baseball gods decided for none of that, and sacrificed Owens to the cause. Tonight's game thread should be full of Jerry Owens supporters.
  12. It's going to be interesting to see him pitch, as it sounds like his fastball is in the mid 80s right now.
  13. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 04:42 AM) Every team is going to have holes going into the off-season, and I'm actually happy those are ours. In reality, those 3 are probably the easiest to fill. Agreed, you know from our PM a few days ago that we both feel KW's in a much better position to build for the next few years than he was at this point last season.
  14. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 05:17 AM) First off- my fault, I thought it said "aren't". Secondly- the Mariners aren't going to want tons for Beltre. If they think they will get our best pitching prospect for a .260 hitter with a gold glove for 1 year, they're nuts. They'll likely want Fields and Broadway, and that's fine with me. It'd probably be impossible to get both Roberts and Beltre, but it all depends on how much Baltimore would want for their 1-year rental. So if they want Fields/Broadway for Beltre, don't you think there's 5 other teams that will beat that package? They asked for Slowey, Blackburn, or Perkins from the Twins, along with another prospect. Their asking price will drop a little in the offseason, even though Beltre's on quite the tear right now (raising his value).
  15. There's a better chance of Hank Blalock being our 3rd baseman next year than Beltre. I'm a big fan of Beltre's, but he's become very overrated on this site (Eric Chavez-esque).
  16. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 05:11 AM) Are you serious? Who cares? It's called "don't negotiate with him" then. Keep him for the year, and let him walk. If he isn't going to want tons per year, then maybe sign him to a 2-4 year deal, but if he's going to want what Crede does, screw it. And BTW- how can you think 3rd and 2nd aren't big holes? Going into next year, we might have Getz and Fields at those spots, and that would be brutal. Beltre will want more than what Crede wants. Why trade all of your prospects (Beltre would likely cost us Poreda) for a one year rental? Also, I did say that 2b/3b are big holes.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 05:04 AM) The key on that trade is still gettign the Brewers to take on more salary. Oh, of course, and freeing up the salary for the Sox to acquire more players. I don't think anyone on here really wants to see us make a move like that again, unless it's to clear Konerko's contract.
  18. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 05:04 AM) Trade for Brian Roberts and Adrian Beltre. Sign or trade for a good/great relief pitcher as Linebrink clearly can't be counted on for a full season. Who are all these great prospects we have to trade for? Also, do you really think KW will trade for Beltre, who is a Boras client heading into his walk season. The 5th starter spot, 3rd base, and 2nd base are the biggest holes by far.
  19. QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 04:58 AM) So if we just beef up the pen, remaining in 2004 style will pay off. No thanks. It was working quite well earlier this year when Linebrink was healthy. KW should be very thankful that the 2005 team won the World Series, as trading Carlos Lee for Scott Podsednik has to be one of the worst trades in recent history (in terms of talent level).
  20. QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 04:49 AM) You can talk about the hitless wonder stretches in 05 all day but that team: -could hit clutch -had stellar defense -found endless ways to win by only a run All things that are easy to do when you have a bullpen that is among the best in baseball history.
  21. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 04:43 AM) Isn't Duch on the DL now though? Yep, and there's been rumors of a degenerative hip condition.
  22. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 03:30 AM) For what we have right now I wouldnt really mind that, but its more of a patch than a fix I think, atleast until we get a better leadoff hitter. A patch for the next 3 years?
  23. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 03:29 AM) Any guesses for what? Maybe in some sort of package for Duchsherer and/or Street.
  24. Here's an option...put Ramirez in the 2nd spot in the lineup!
