  1. OC, where you going? Ominous start to the game.
  2. After two terrific at bats, CQ follows them up with a poor AB. He's really swinging too hard at the plate.
  3. Saw elsewhere that MacDougal, Wassermann, and Owens got promoted as well.
  4. Paul Phillips got called up.
  5. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Aug 31, 2008 -> 09:27 PM) Ugh, please think before you post. That comment is sig worthy. Far and away the biggest compliment given to Todd Jones this season.
  6. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Aug 31, 2008 -> 09:23 PM) If he gets the save here that will be 16 out of 114 career saves (quick count through game log) That's hardly "classic." See Todd Jones for that. I'll say it now...Jenks ability to avoid the homer in save situations is absolutely amazing.
  7. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Aug 31, 2008 -> 09:22 PM) basehit ties the game, hilarious Thanks for making me think this is what actually happened. Great win by our new stopper!
  8. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Aug 31, 2008 -> 08:20 PM) Toby Hall is just horrible at the plat and not much of an arm on D,if we are gonna sacrifice offense with Hall, shouldn t he be able to throw people out?are there no catchers who fit that bill? Why didn't we have AJP hit for him in the top of the 9th, and then just stay in the game?
  9. Times like this you wish Jenks still had that strike out ability.
  10. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Aug 31, 2008 -> 09:18 PM) fortunately this is shaping up to look like the classic runs-allowed-but-save from Jenks. Trying for the jinx, are we?

  12. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 31, 2008 -> 08:15 PM) Nice. Apparently the shadows don't help our pitchers. You absolutely can't walk Alex Cora to leadoff an inning like that, especially with the heart of their order lurking.
  13. Why not just keep Thornton in the game if he's looking good?
  14. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Aug 31, 2008 -> 08:36 PM) I agree, but I never heard the "stupid" remarks. Farmer reported earlier this year that Aaron Rowand had very negative things to say about Gavin.
  15. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 31, 2008 -> 07:21 PM) 2 for 20 with a triple - that's hot.
  16. Can we please just end the Joe Crede Experience?
  17. Like I mentioned earlier in the thread, my contact saw him at one other start this year, and was unimpressed. I hope he's wrong on Egbert, as you can never have enough sinker ballers.
  18. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Aug 31, 2008 -> 06:33 PM) Our offense needs to get going. We can't have it go into a slumber at this point of the year. 10 flyball outs to 1 groundball out so far. I agree with you though, they've been disappointing this week.
  19. Swisher is 1 for his last 22 with 12 K. But you know, it's a brilliant decision to put him in front of CQ.
  20. Swisher's strike out string continues. I honestly don't get what the damage would be in letting Anderson get a start once every week.
  21. QUOTE (scenario @ Aug 31, 2008 -> 05:55 PM) Seems like every time you post about him, he drops a couple mph off his fastball. He was terrible last night... he gave up 4 runs in the first inning. That doesn't change the fact that he has been very good since June 1st... 3.51 ERA with over a 3:1 K/BB ratio. And I know I've read info on him that has described his fastball in the low 90's. (So unlikely that it's gone all the way down to 85 unless he has arm trouble.) This was a first hand account, which is a lot more reliable than scouting reports.
  22. Huge out! Nice to have a lead after a full inning.
  23. It would be nice for our starting pitchers to get a 3rd out in a big situation without allowing runs in.
