  1. Thornton's lack of a consistent offspeed pitch hurts against good hitters like Kinsler. It's too bad that Logan had absolutely nothing tonight.
  2. Cardinals on the verge of possibly blowing a big lead in a game they had 21 hits in.
  3. QUOTE (Maxwell @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 01:57 AM) This ump sucks my testicles. Toby seems to be doing an awful job of framing pitches. Why do you not throw the slider on 1-2?
  4. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 01:54 AM) ok but now it would be if say Logan or whoever came into pitch, since the tying run is on deck. yes
  5. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 01:53 AM) Starting it no, not really, but he was at 95 pitches and should've been pulled after the 2B. I can't believe we didn't bring in Boone to face Hamilton. Hawk keeps talking about how a 4 run lead is nothing in this park, yet Ozzie showed no urgency with Danks.
  6. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 02:51 AM) Is it a save chance? I can't remember the qualifications for some reason. No it's not.
  7. That was horrific managing. Should have pulled him after Duran's double. Even then, there's no way he should have been facing Hamilton. Why even have Logan up in the bullpen.
  8. I would have liked to see Logan face Hamilton here, just to see what he can do against him. Hamilton has seen a lot of offspeed pitches tonight.
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 02:41 AM) I think your right. I am, I saw it on a Rangers broadcast last week and on the Sox broadcast last night. I had no recollection at all of that.
  10. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 02:40 AM) I'm surprised Danks is in. I'd have shut him down and called it a first half of the season. He's been absolutely tremendous the past couple weeks though (getting deep into games and giving up very few runs). After this start, I'm calling him the biggest snub of the All Star Game. I agree, bring in Dotel or Thornton.
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 02:39 AM) I'm not going ot lie fathom. I just went through about 20 pages and you were the one hammering the deal more than almost anyone. Although in general, I was one of the only people actually supporting the move and it had to do with having inside info. That and I liked the idea of getting two good arms for 1. Hopefully I was in there saying that Masset's fastball is nowhere near 96-98 mph.
  12. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 02:36 AM) I wasn't so upset about that trade, I was more confused as to why he'd trade Garcia to make room for McCarthy, which I understood, then trade McCarthy after all that hype. I eventually settled down and figured it was just a lateral trade and that Danks would be as good as McCarthy would've been. I was wrong, but not for the reasons I thought I'd be. Yep, I totally agree with this. One of the reasons it was such a shock is we waited so long for McCarthy to be in the rotation, and we had started to pencil him in. Then, I wake up in the morning (was in Christmas Eve or New Year's?), and it's the lead story on rotoworld.
  13. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 01:34 AM) On the Danks trade: Sorry, I had to. Oh come on, I'm sure there were worse things said than that!!!! Someone I work with is friends with Danks, and some of the stories about him are crazy. He's a good kid.
  14. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 01:33 AM) he's been going to all fields from the entire season, the balls are just now starting to drop for him. He's been sporting an unusually low BABIP all season. What his strike out per at bat rate for each month? For him, it's all about making contact.
  15. Thanks Ron Washington for pitching to Thome there. PK!!!!!
  16. QUOTE (Maxwell @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 02:30 AM) Hell yes. Do you even have that sig anymore, fathom? No, I got rid of it a month ago. It was difficult to keep track of, as I would have to look up that stat on my own. Also, OC and Thome were playing well, so I figured my pep talk worked.
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 02:30 AM) Thanks for the McCarthy trade thread. Wow, people were pissed. I couldn't find my comment but I bet I was pissed. -- NICE BOMB JIMMY T! In retrospect, I think the McCarthy trade was such a shock to us.
  18. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 02:26 AM) Crede is very skilled at flipping the bat out on the ball and going up the middle/rf. He's done that numerous times when he's been healthy the past couple seasons. Well I shouldn't say very skilled, but he's pretty solid at it (Frank was amazing at it in his prime). Wouldn't you say that was his 2 strike swing? Tonight, he's been doing that on the first pitch and forward.
  19. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 02:23 AM) Are you kidding me? You are seriously whining about Crede trying to go to right field? He stroke one but right at Hamilton and has looked pretty solid at the plate. When Crede uses all fields he's at his best (even though most of his HR's are to LF). He's not skilled enough at that art to do that. Just like Pods, he's the one guy I just want to swing hard and try to pull it.
  20. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 02:21 AM) Jim Thome? Preston Wilson
