Um, that was a strange inning.

This team is playing like absolute crap. Get Ozuna out of the freaking game!

I was just typing that DiFelice is the biggest asshole in baseball.

The stiff in right field costs the Sox a double.

Lethargic offense....no one likes Ozuna more than I do, but he's become useless on this roster with Ramirez on it. I still don't think he's recovered.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 19, 2008 -> 12:25 AM) I wonder if the D-Rays fans are as mad about that as the people here are about Crede getting a day off. Isn't Pena also in a real bad slump?

And that's why Ozuna should not be playing 3rd base. The defensive mojo needs to turn around.

Negative Catch All ~ House of Blues
I've been disappointed in Cabrera's situational hitting so far. Ozzie has tried about 5 hit-and-runs with OC up, and he hasn't hit behind the runner once.

PK continues to kill our offense. One of these days, Cabrera will actually hit it where he's supposed to on the hit-and-run.

QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 11:06 PM) Ozzie lied! Uribe back in there tonight at second, and no Joe tonight. Swish CF, OC SS, Thome DH, PK 1B, Dye RF, AJ C, Quentin LF, Ozuna 3B, Uribe 2B Terrible lineup...with all the guys we have slumping, I can't believe we're benching Crede. It will be nice if Richar can return, as we're way too righty dominant in the lineup.

White Sox Loser
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 09:49 PM) A few more observations from last night: Carlos hit 2 dingers. One on a breaking ball to left and one on a fastball to right. Its said when he gets going his power is going to be to right center, so its a good sign he hit one hard there. The baltimore announcers are pretty good, but the fans are not, they consistently threw HR balls back onto the field. Give it to a kid guys. Gavin Floyd it starting to like to attack hitters. He is starting to realize his fastball can give him a strike right away on batters, this is a good thing. One other observation....Juan Uribe might be the greatest defensive SS in history when it comes to plays he has to charge (like the World Series ender). Cabrera is a very respected defensive player, and he looks like a Little Leaguer on those plays compared to Uribe.

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 09:22 PM) Luis Rivas is still in the league??? He's awful, and he's been a disaster against the Cubs so far this year. I saw him in Durham a few years ago, and the talk around that club was he was a major juicer during his days with the Twins.

Rays sign Longoria to 9 year deal...
QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 09:17 PM) Overcompensation for how he really feels about himself? No, he knows he has a world of talent. This deal was done for him to get more money in his pocket the next few years. I think it's a brilliant move by Tampa.

Rays sign Longoria to 9 year deal...
QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 09:13 PM) A deal like this makes me think the kid might doubt himself a little bit. My brother's been around Longoria for the past year or so, and one thing he doesn't lack is confidence.

I'm sure I'll take heat for this, but is Carlos Marmol the best set-up reliever in baseball? He reminds me so much of K-Rod when he first broke in.

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 07:02 PM) Marissa Miller, the super model, threw out the first pitch. I thought she was gonna bounce it up there but she winged it from the mound on a fly. I was kind of impressed. Can she play for the Pirates? 3 gift runs for the Cubs, as the Pirates are making defense seem impossible.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 04:48 PM) If we saw Marte in a close game in the ALCS and lived, we'll live through that. Even with the results. How about in Game 3 of the World Series? He made Ensberg his b****.

Ramirez to get some chances at 2nd base
Can we just trade for Willie Harris?

2008 White Sox Catch-All Thread
Uribe, from what I've seen from Cabrera, was better defensively at SS than OC is.

White Sox Loser
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 03:03 AM) How about the guys that were waiting to see him against someone other than the Tigers? Hmmm? SP has been solid, first real blip for the pen. Its going to happen, move on. I'm pretty happy, as Floyd looked better than he ever has, and Quentin continues to be a pleasure to watch. Maybe it's because I don't expect this team to win 100 games, but seeing individual performances like this makes it a pretty positive night.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 03:01 AM) Great job by Floyd. Yep, I've debated typing this after the game, but here it goes: I would rather the Sox lose tonight, given that Floyd was great, instead of winning 10-8 and Floyd going 3 innings and allowing 5 runs.

White Sox Loser
QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 03:43 AM) I guess we will see how this holds up the rest of the season when people aren't looking at scouting reports from last year. You may be right, but as a general rule, I never like hearing a guy's velocity is going down. And then it's said the guy is just becoming more of a pitcher or something to that effect (which to me is usually a euphemism for "he's losing his stuff"). This approach is not working out very well for Justin Verlander. Jenks had the same fastball last year that he has this year. He should throw that change-up more.

I really want to see Quentin continue to prove he can be an everyday corner outfielder. It's fun to watch players develop into big league hitters.
