QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 07:52 PM) Boonito! Just surrender the lead, already. Every victory between now and the inevitable fire sale will only provide false hope. Today and tomorrow are the final two games I'll really care about if we lose.

Reason #5,005 why Ozzie is a bad manager....Izturis hits almost 100 points better against righties than lefties this year, and he was already 2-2 against righties today. Well done Ozzie, well done!

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 07:48 PM) even Hawk sounded astounded that we brought in buk I'd rather see MacDougal, as sad as that sounds. Hell, let Logan start the inning.

QUOTE(Jim Spencer @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 07:46 PM) Should of left Andy in to bat Bringing in Mackowiak made it impossible for Pods to steal and get in scoring position. That was a situation where having an injured, usless player like Dye still on the roster hurts your flexibility.

QUOTE(briguy27 @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 06:54 PM) AJ hates the world What happened?
-
Iguchi continues his reign as the worst defensive 2b in baseball.
-
QUOTE(briguy27 @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 06:47 PM) 100% agreed. It's freaking 88 mph straight as an arrow fastball- hit the f***in' thing Hill does this to almost every team he faces....he's just very deceptive somehow. I remember getting ridiculed over the offseason when I said he's equal, if not higher, to McCarthy in terms of trade value.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 06:45 PM) Is Fields just an aberration? It's weird seeing a youngster come up and hit well. He actually has tools, which is a lot more than you can say about a lot of the prospects we usually call up.
-
It really amazes me that Greg Walker has a job still. We're now firing our scouting director, but the guy who's overseeing the worst hitting team in baseball is still employed. Did you know that Sammy Sosa has more homers than anyone on this team?
-
QUOTE(rafacosta @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 06:15 PM) Oh ok, because he tried to stretch a single into a double he is now a headcase??? Let the guy play...at least he is hustling.. No, it's because he makes a lot of mental mistakes on the field, and Grace, someone who's seen him play a hell of a lot more than any of us have, made it sound like a big issue with him. Don't get me wrong, Terrero's one of my favorite guys on this team to watch right now.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 06:09 PM) I know what you're asking yourself: Why did Terrero force the issue right there? Well I can tell you. The guy has played in 28 games this year, has gotten on base around 37% of the time, has hit 5 HR and even stolen a base but he has still yet to hit a double. He just want himself a double. There's a reason Terrero is known as a guy with a million dollar skill set and a 10 cent brain. Even Mark Grace was going off on that two weeks ago.

QUOTE(TheOcho @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 06:09 PM) And I'm guessing they are last in the league with throwing guys out. Oh yeah, and it's not even close.
-
The Sox have to lead the league in guys thrown out on the bases.
-
Very nice job by Thome to make contact against a tough strikeout pitcher in that situation.
-
QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 05:37 PM) that pitch to Soriano was about 6 inches outside How far was Soriano's homer?
-
This is such an embarrassment. That's like the 6th leadoff homer we've allowed this year.
-
QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 05:31 PM) Lets hope it's not Jacque Jones. In all honesty, I'll be fine if it is him, as long as we don't give up anyone of significance.
-
QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 05:22 PM) I agree. If the Sox do trade Garland, it better be something along the lines of Cano, Cabrera and that Kennedy kid from the Yankees for Garland and Iguchi. You don't trade Garland for a package of "prospects" (suspects). That's just not realistic at all. Cano and Cabrera are their two main offensive young guys, and Kennedy is a big time pitching prospect. You would be hard pressed to even get one of those guys for Garland, and you definitely wouldn't get Cano.
-
I think the Mariners could be a player for Contreras.
-
At this point, you have to DL Dye. Only the Sox could have a situation where they don't DL someone because the other person is more injured.
-
QUOTE(29thandPoplar @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 04:24 PM) Either Erstad or Dye will be going on the DL. They are apparantly waiting for review of Erstad's MRI per the radio. Both will be on the DL by the middle of next week. It's too bad we didn't try to trade Dye two weeks ago. He has zero value now.
-
QUOTE(chisox2334 @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 02:51 PM) today we might not lose a game... yes for rain What's the chances of a rain out?
-
QUOTE(GreenSox @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 02:53 PM) Absolutely - he's got the "stuff" he's just wild. Jones is a declining free swinger who plays poor D. Even for the Cubs, he was just a filler-player. Mac was supposed to be our set-up man. Both are disappointments but Mac has more value. And to throw in a serious arm in addition? noooooo. Hell, I'd prefer Murton. Interesting note...2 years ago, Cubs were very close to trading Murton for MacDougal. That's a trade I would do, as I know the Cubs are interested in getting another righty reliever (even though they have 4 good ones right now).
-
QUOTE(spataro51 @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 02:47 PM) Good point FATHOM.....Lets not hope that when he does you don't get someone that will through everything they have at him to get him just to sign. But the article does give me a sigh of a little relief that if this is article is true at least there is some talking at least going on instead of nothing at all. LOCK HIM UP! I'll make the prediction that if Zambrano stays with the Cubs, the Mets will offer Buehrle in the 17 to 18 million range for 5 years.
-
That's the most promising article I've heard yet about Buehrle. However, you have to worry that once he gets to test the market, other teams will blow us out of the water.
