  1. Ugh...no reason to have MacDougal pitching back-to-back games right now.
  2. Uribe continues his impeccable defensive season. With Ichiro running, you have to make sure you get the out at 2nd.
  3. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 01:58 AM) Does anyone else hate Uribe's bat toss every time he hits a can of corn to the OF? He's our best hitter right now...the ball's just not jumping in the cold weather tonight. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 01:59 AM) Gene LaMont did. Not only was he fired, he suffered the ultimate humiliation and was replaced by Bevington. The only way Ozzie gets fired is if his mouth gets him fired.
  4. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 01:57 AM) Realistically is a manager going to get fired if his team wins say 90 games in a season? If we didn't win the WS last year, and with all the crap off the field with Ozzie this season, there'd be a huge uproar in the media about how this team played like a bunch of dogs over the last two months.
  5. Scott Boras is probably begging Crede to sit out the rest of the season. He's on the verge of going from a .300 hitter to a .275 hitter if he keeps struggling the rest of the year.
  6. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 01:55 AM) What, exactly will booing accomplish? Kenny is already pissed with this team's performance. Hawk is finally starting to question Guillen and the players realize the position they put them in. Why stop with booing? Let's throw trash on the field and run after Neal Cotts after he gives up yet another 9th inning run. Let's show those Cub fans who means business! All I said was that I'm surprised there's not more booing. Chicago fans seem to boo quite frequently, and everyone knows how frustrated our fans are right now. In a way, I'm proud of our fans for staying classy.
  7. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 01:53 AM) You act like we're under .500 or something. We're well under .500 since the ASB, and the intensity level has been pathetic down the stretch. I have no problem with this team not making the playoffs...not once in the last 3 months did they give me any reason to think they're better than the Tigers and Twins. However, what's not acceptable is how these guys have just turned off the engine since this month started. If Ozzie didn't win the WS last year, there'd be a lot of people saying he deserves to be fired.
  8. Ah yes...Hawk saying our pitching is finally coming around now. We're going to have to hear that line all offseason.
  9. The worst thing about our inability to score without hitting a homer just increases the odds of Juan Pierre being our CF next year.
  10. I'm shocked at the lack of booing going on tonight by the crowd. I'll be content if we don't see PK, Crede, Thome, and Iguchi play another game for the rest of the season. Those guys don't seem interested in playing....so don't.
  11. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 01:46 AM) I thought he was saying "If we don't win, blame me." Uhh.....is Ozzie waiting for this team to fail? Why wouldn't he making changes NOW if he obviously sees it's not working? These players just have flat out sucked during the 2nd half of the season. It's amazing how bad we've been with the talent that we have.
  12. Nice pull approach PK....I guess sometimes you get a hit, sometimes you don't.
  13. I forgot my line that I've been using a lot lately: another early inning offensive explosion. Why don't we experiment with Iguchi in the 7 or 8 spot the rest of the season? Yay...good job Thome.
  14. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 01:33 AM) Instead of playing the young guys, I would rather see Ozzie have some fun and make the lineup drawing names out of his hat. It couldn't be worse than his typical vs. LHP lineup with Pablo/Gooch/Dye/Thome/Konerko/AJ/Crede/Uribe/Mack or Anderson Of course Mack goes down against LHP. Why not see what Fields can do in left? Do we really have to wait until we are mathematically eliminated? Anyone else just infuriated when Ozzie says "don't blame anyone else...blame me"?
  15. These guys are having some quality ABs tonight. Can we get eliminated soon, and play our young guys?
  16. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 12:47 AM) I agree wholeheartedly with the first sentence. How confident are you about the second? I would love for him to get moved, but do you think Ozzie/KW agree? Yes, I think we'll see a new SS here next year. We've already heard names like Lugo mentioned with the Sox.
  17. Two things: - Crede's approach at the plate is just laughable right now. - Does anyone know what Thome is hitting against lefties since the ASB?
  18. QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 22, 2006 -> 12:37 AM) He is. One play does not determine whether a player is the best at anything, a whole career does. His defense this year has been nowhere near as good and crisp as it was in the past. Uribe has 4 home games left in his Sox career.
  19. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 08:56 PM) Its funny how you dont hear too much about the Red Sawks failing to make the playoffs. Because they had ridiculous injury problems this year. I know we had some guys banged up this year, but compared to almost every other team in baseball, we had great luck with injuries. If I was to think of the top 20 reasons for why we didn't make the playoffs this year, the only injury issue I would even bring up is how Contreras' injury completely stopped his momentum as an "ace".
  20. We pushed our starting pitchers too hard at the beginning of the year, instead of letting them ease into the season. Part of the reason why we acquired Vazquez, or at least we were told, was to let McCarthy fill-in for some of our starters if they experienced this fatigue. How many times this year did Ozzie leave a starter out for the 7th or 8th inning, especially when we were losing, when he could have gone to the bullpen and maybe saved 20 pitches on our starter's arm?
  21. What a disappointing end to a terrific season for Crede.
  22. Great game by Crede tonight...let him get his 30th homer, and then shut his ass down for the year.
  23. No one else I'd rather have up in a non-clutch situation than Thome.
  24. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 02:55 AM) they say you win if you are strong up the middle....hmmmm he was one of the first pieces in the building process that ultimately led to his wearing a WS ring with the rest of the 2005 guys! book it! Weren't the Phillies better w/o Rowand in CF this year?
  25. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 02:54 AM) go back and read VASOXFANs allstar post....you laughed at his wisdom....! where's this thread? FWIW, I was one of the main proponents on this site for upgrading our offense, even though everyone kept saying it was the pitching that needed upgrading.
