Sox vs. Mariners Gamethread 09/17/2007
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 03:48 AM) Next year they better not flip those cards, scary things will be glaring back at them. This made me laugh.

Went to White Hen, and got back just in time to hear Hawk screaming about the homer. Very impressive by Richar....well done!

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 03:37 AM) His replacment then will either be a 40+ year old SS who used to play for Cleveland or a Pixie who plays SS for the Cardinals. Or a juicer from the Orioles

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 03:35 AM) You all realize that our fat shortstop will be back putting up a sub 300 OBP, sub 240 BA, and with worse defense due to the face that 5 million dollar options buy a s***load of doublemeat on the footlong subs he will be packing away like they are White Castles. I don't think he'll be back, especially after KW's comments the other day about OBP.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 03:30 AM) Bautista dominating us is one of many embarassing moments of this year. Batista has been pitching well at least. Getting shut down by Weaver was the worst offensive game of the season since Durbin dominated us way back when. This is probably the low point for the Sox organization in a long time with what's going on with the team and what is going on 8 miles north.

Well.....check out the quote by Ozzie about not using young kids. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 03:26 AM) If you want to see what we are getting for next year, find who is on the 60 day DL or find out who is injured for the year right now. Lightning in the bottle is our method. Something cheap, that has some upside. But at least they'll have good at-bats. Appearantly getting hits and driving in runners is no longer important.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 03:24 AM) Oh I am convinced that next year will have the talent. I am absolutely convinced that this ownership will not pay the slot or more to the point overpay for a stud. We will pass and sign some turd that has one tool and they will pass it off as finding a nuggett of gold in the strawpatch. We'll take Jordan Danks

This is embarassing...maybe we can fight for the #1 pick the rest of the way.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 03:23 AM) Starters is a generous word. Pods and Grinderstad can only start for this team, On other teams, they are pinch runners and 4th OFs. We over use role players. Exactly the point I was trying to make....we better pray for a spending spree this offseason.

Let's see how long Ozzie leaves Contreras out there tonight.

So, I just realized we're only missing one starter due to injury right now, and all our starting pitchers are healthy.....YIKES!

Terrific scoop by Erstad.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 03:17 AM) There actually are people very impressed by him. I don't see it yet. Jerry Owens has 7 RBI in over 200 AB. That's hard to do. Between Owens, Pods, and Richar, there's some astounding RBI totals. The RBI total between our leadoff hitters and the opposition must be mind-boggling. Pods sure took his time with that twirl.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 03:16 AM) I was at his first game, he looked good solid contact. Then he was probably given some advice. He just seems to have no strength behind his swing. He looks more like Otis Nixon than anything else right now. Between him and Owens, there's no way you can actually think you can compete for the AL Central last with those mediocre players as full-time starters.

Holy cow, Richar is trying his best to keep me unimpressed. Looks like a weak, slap hitter right now.

Another grind out. BTW, do yourself a favor and watch Joba Chamberlain pitch sometime. He reminds me of Jenks when he first came up.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 02:55 AM) Did you see that Matt Stairs led off for Toronto the other day. That's great...I don't know why more teams don't try that.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 02:52 AM) But KW's 15 deep pitching depth can only come up with a replacement who is actually worse. We lead the world in AAAA players, it seems. If KW wants OBP players so much, can we try Thome at leadoff? He's certainly not hitting like a #4 hitter anymore, so why not try something new?

Sox vs. Mariners Gamethread 09/17/2007
Wow....quite pathetic to see a shallow fly ball to CF be almost a no-throw situation. I wonder if Dye will come out and say again how this team lacks intensity on a lot of nights.

Anyone else just see Adam Dunn's cheap homer?

Sox vs. Mariners Gamethread 09/17/2007
Interesting stat about Contreras allowing the most unearned runs in the AL this year. When you combine that with his 6.24 ERA coming into the game.....you have yourself someone who shouldn't be in the rotation.

2008 White Sox
QUOTE(GreenSox @ Aug 18, 2007 -> 02:25 AM) He swings at everything, just like Uribe and his OBP shows it. He hits a few more HRs, but faces NL pitching. He's marginally better than Uribe....but not that much. Certainly nothing to do a dance over and say we've improved. Plus, to get Green we'll have to give something up. When I see these Garland for Green (plus the obligatory A ball pitcher) suggestions I want to laugh: essentially trading Garland for a minor upgrade over Uribe. I absolutely agree with you....Garland should bring back something better than him and a C prospect. The Padres won't trade him though, so people should stop discussing it.

Official Hate for the Milwaukee Brewers Thread
Brewers got the tying run to the plate, but Braun flew out deep and then Jenkins hit a rocket right at Griffey Jr.
