Rather Crede K than hit into DP.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 5, 2007 -> 02:26 AM) What the f*** is going on with Josh Fields? Another weak night at the plate -- 1-for-5. I know it's early, but he needs to get going, ASAP. We should have either traded him or Crede last offseason.
-
QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ May 5, 2007 -> 02:25 AM) Has he even touched 95 this year? I don't think he's touched that since he returned from the DL. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ May 5, 2007 -> 02:26 AM) we've got big, big problems. played like s*** in spring training --- and it hasn't stopped yet. We've played like s*** for 100 games now....this is what happens when you do nothing to improve your team.
-
I don't think Contreras has thrown more than 5 good forkballs all season.
-
Ha, Sweeney can't go back to the minors soon enough. Another amazing Sox prospect. f*** this team.
-
QUOTE(Capn12 @ May 5, 2007 -> 02:19 AM) No chance throwing him out. Same s***, different day so far for this Sox team... At what point do people start getting on Ozzie for how flat this team is?
-
My gosh, Contreras is washed up. He has nothing left.
-
Contreras has absolutely no forkball left. He's going to get destroyed tonight if he can't induce double plays.
-
Gio gives up 4 in the first inning....he'll fit in great!
-
Cubs not spending money is such a myth. Their payroll has been high for quite a few years now.

QUOTE(joeynach @ May 4, 2007 -> 07:54 PM) Can someone just tell me the last time we had back to back hits (or walks). No seriously can someone really tell me I cant remember. Probably the inning vs the Angels on Saturday night where we ended up getting the bases loaded and still didn't score.
-
QUOTE(joeynach @ May 4, 2007 -> 07:50 PM) So u are in favor of giving MB before any other pitcher potentially available a 5 Year 75 Mil deal? Well then we are lucky you are not the GM. Whats wrong with MB on a 3 year deal at 11-12 per year with an option. It's never going to happen, so why even mention it?

I'm actually more optimistic now than before the season

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 4, 2007 -> 06:18 PM) 5 games back already...... Danks has already gotten you excited....it would be great if someone like Sweeney can look like he'll be a part of our future for the next 5 years as well. -

QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ May 4, 2007 -> 03:48 PM) I feel great about our starting pitching and our bullpen, and once the hitters come around (THEY WILL), this will be at least an 86 win team, probably even more than that, which puts us right in the thick of things. Our hitting will definitely improve, but our pitching is likely going to start to decline as well. We've faced basically all of the worst hitting teams in the AL so far this season. For our sake, we better hope our offense improves more than our pitching declines. -
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 4, 2007 -> 04:52 PM) It's the position players right now where we need some depth. Right now, it seems like almost all of our position prospects are hitting a wall simultaneously. This is the potential disaster. We don't have nearly enough money to bring in a FA or resign a guy to play LF, CF, RF, 3rd base, 2nd base, SS, C, and DH before the start of the 09 season. Think about that...as far as I can tell, the only position player we have locked up beyond the end of 08 is Konerko. We need to get contributions from quite a few of Fields, Anderson, Sweeney, Owens, and maybe Cunningham, and we need them ASAP. And if we deal someone, we need to find pieces to fill in some of those holes. Otherwise, the only way we stay competitive is if we spend Yankee dollars to hold our lineup together as they age. Our inability to produce offensive talent from our minors over the past 3 years is really coming back to haunt us. It's pathetic that we couldn't even call up someone to be a DH at the major league level and expect them to hit .200. I guess it's not surprising when you see how bad the hitting is at Charlotte.

I'm a big fan of this article, as I was constantly stating during the offseason that we should have given it one last shot this year, and then went into full rebuilding mode after this season.
-
Should have traded Haeger this offseason when he had value.
-
Indians are real good this year. I'm not sure who I think will win the AL Central, them or the Tigers.

Anyone else currently regreting letting Ross Gload go?
fathom replied to Chisoxrd5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 3, 2007 -> 10:44 PM) The White Sox had a suitable Gload replacement with Eduardo Perez, but they just had to have 4 borderline 3rd/4th OF's on the team. We have our winner! It's amazing that once Toby Hall got hurt, we didn't add Perez to the roster. It's as if KW and Ozzie thought being dominated by tough lefty pitchers wouldn't happen again this season with the same exact lineup we had last year vs them. -
I'll be thrilled if Gio can be our Rich Hill.
-
QUOTE(Texsox @ May 3, 2007 -> 05:18 PM) Where have I heard a statement like that before? Oh yeah, with Konerko. It's all speculation, but I think Dye will stay in Chicago as long as he's getting playing time. Texas does seem like the logical next choice. Personally, I think Konerko would have been long gone if not for the magic of 2005.
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 3, 2007 -> 04:27 PM) The White Sox have been a below .500 team now for over 100 games. Maybe they just aren't that good. I'm just so grateful we capitalized on our golden chance during 2005. I mean that as sincerely as possible.
-
QUOTE(Texsox @ May 3, 2007 -> 05:15 PM) Whose choice, Dye or the teams? Dye will be playing in Texas next year. If he was coming back to the Sox, they would have wrapped up an extension last offseason.
-
If the A's would give up Harden for Dye and Gio, I'll drive Dye and Gio and thank Jermaine for two historic seasons with the Sox. Dye's going to be gone after this year anyways, and I'll take the chances of Harden staying healthy over Gio doing anything in the majors.

It was surreal earlier in the game seeing Willie Harris single up the middle vs Garcia, and Rowand fielded it.
