  1. QUOTE(greg775 @ May 24, 2007 -> 02:41 AM) It's easy to blame Ozzie. He didn't have the bat in his hands feebly with bags loaded and only one out. It's not like the other players you mention are great hitters either. It scares me to think that I believe the 7th and 8th inning were some of the worst managing I've ever seen by Ozzie from a strategic standpoint.
  2. More suckiness from Iguchi.
  3. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 24, 2007 -> 02:34 AM) Too bad we don't have a hitter off the bench who does very well against lefties... oh, right, hey Toby Hall, how you doin'? But what would we do if AJ got hurt in the 9th inning?
  4. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 24, 2007 -> 02:33 AM) We just got managerial-owned that inning. You have two guys on the bench with 10 times the amount of power that Ozuna has. Then, you let Erstad, who is brutal against LHP, face a guy who is very tough on lefty hitters. These last two innings couldn't have been managed worse if Ozzie tried.
  5. Ozzie's playing the percentages right into the A's hands. What a pathetic piece of managing here.
  6. Why Timo when you need an extra base hit? Why not Toby Hall or Terrero?
  7. We should ph with Eduardo Perez here!
  8. We better see a PH here.
  9. Sinker ball pitcher vs ground ball hitter....please avoid the DP Mackowiak!
  10. That was literally the same exact hit as the game-winner against KRod.
  11. Jenks rarely throws his fastball past people anymore. I'd guess that 80 pct of his strike outs come via an offspeed pitch. Whenever Jenks can get 2 strikes on a hitter without using his hook, he has a great chance at getting that hitter out.
  12. QUOTE(Reddy @ May 24, 2007 -> 02:16 AM) i wouldnt say its corpseball quite yet... if this continues then yes but i agree with fathom that i think tonight is just a bad matchup Only problem is that 3 of our next 4 games are bad match-ups. Time for this offense to start beating good pitchers.
  13. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 24, 2007 -> 02:12 AM) Corpseball is back in full affect. We score like we are just insane for 4 days, then poof on a hot night at the Cell the home runs swings come back and a pitcher 2 hits us. This type of pitcher is just a bad match-up for us. He never gives up the long ball, which is obviously the biggest strength of this offense. Guys like Uribe are typically worthless against a pitcher like this, and sadly, Iguchi has become that way also.
  14. Give credit to Gaudin....he's putting his fastball wherever he wants it right now. As Rock says, at least this is another series win. It's going to be tougher than many think to win the Tampa series.
  15. 0 for last 17. With Mackowiak swinging better, I wouldn't mind seeing him get a game in the 2nd spot this wknd.
  16. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 24, 2007 -> 02:04 AM) Well we are going to tip our caps when we face Shields, Kazmir and Santana 3 out of the next 4 games. Shields is a fastball/slider pitcher....won't be fun.
  17. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 24, 2007 -> 12:39 AM) So true. Just wait until the Sox get shut down by Johan again. We'll have the "we can't hit LHP" and "we can't hit good starters" crowds out with their pitchforks. It's true though.....we look terrible against good lefty starters. I wonder if Toby will make us look any better against Santana, C.C., etc.
  18. It's too bad that Sisco's suckiness makes have to pitch Thornton tonight. Man, Swisher without the hair swings look a stud against us.
  19. QUOTE(greg775 @ May 24, 2007 -> 01:59 AM) The bullpen would have been just as bad. 107 pitches isn't that many. He was throwing stressful pitches from literally the 3rd batter of the game. Doesn't really matter though...our offense looks lifeless tonight. Anyone with a brain could see that Garland was battling tonight, and we should have considered ourselves lucky as hell if he only allowed 2 runs.
  20. Tigers win, as they're getting big contributions from some no-name relievers.
  21. The guy was getting liners hit against him all night, labored through 107 pitches....and you bring him back out when you have an off day the next day?
  22. Well done Ozzie, you f***ing idiot.
  23. QUOTE(Reddy @ May 24, 2007 -> 01:54 AM) yep 1 run on 3 hits... i mean it's not as bad as getting shut down by a guy with a 10 ERA but still... we should be able to manage 2 or 3 hits off this guy at the very least... Fixed I can't believe Garland is still out there. Nothing like trying to get your pitcher a win, I guess.
  24. The best chance to score 2 runs is for Erstad to grind his way on base, Iguchi to do what he does best and make an out, and then have Thome bomb a low sinker.
  25. Gaudin's good enough without our hitters swinging at everything from their heads to their feet.
