Red Sox Interested in Buehrle?
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 06:30 PM) I think the price starts at Bucholtz and one of Ellsbury/Lowrie plus Willy Mo Pena. That is just my take. You know that package is probably twice as much as what we'll get. Now you're getting everyone's hopes up.

Laumann new scouting director
Nothing like hiring within the organization when everyone in the organization, in terms of scouting, has failed.

White Sox vs. Cubs, 6/24/07 (L)
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 06:27 PM) Ugh. Gonzalez. Never again. I just want to know why in the world is he hitting 2nd? When's the last time Ozzie tried a hit-and-run?

White Sox vs. Cubs, 6/24/07 (L)
Sweeney's in the minor league lineup today, which makes me think there really is a lot of truth to the Jones trade rumor. I'm worried it might have been for MacDougal, as neither player has been seen this series.

I'm sure glad we put Gonzalez in the 2nd hole and then don't try to do anything with Pods on base. That Ozzie sure knows his personnel.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 06:15 PM) With two auto-outs in the lineup (Gonzalez, Uribe) I expect nothing from Pods. He is sandwiched in between two of the worst hitters and I don't think he'll see any pitches to hit. Why does it matter who's surrounding one of the least powerful hitters in baseball? He'll get good pitches to hit due to teams not wanting to walk him.

Contreras is throwing about 6 mph harder when he goes over the top. Also, Frank Thomas hit # 499.

Red Sox Interested in Buehrle?
QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 06:08 PM) Umm. Are we talking about the Alex Rodriguez that signed with Texas and is represented by Scott Boras here? Perhaps Ichiro would not, but Boras goes for the market, not the team. Umm. Are we talking about the Alex Rodriguez that signed with Texas and is represented by Scott Boras here? Perhaps Ichiro would not, but Boras goes for the market, not the team. And if we are so f***ed for the immediate future, then why sign Buerhle for five years? I don't think we will sign Buehrle....and no way ARod would make the same mistake of signing with a bad team again.

Red Sox Interested in Buehrle?
QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 05:31 PM) I know that everyone here has a mancrush on Mark, but I can no longer support signing him. This offense is absolutely, positively horrendous, and at this point, there is nothing in the farm that would help us turn it around. We need to be putting that 80 million into Ichiro or Arod, or some other position player right now, and hope that Gavin or Gio or Egbert can step up. If we commit another 16 million to a pitcher next year, we will again see the worst offense in baseball. There's no way in hell that Ichiro or ARod will sign with a bottom 5 team in the majors. We have so many holes to fix anyways, it would be dumb to put that much money into one player.

Dye Not heading to the DL on Sunday
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 04:29 PM) Conteras, Vazquez, Iguchi, Buehrle, Uribe, possibly AJ if the Sox can land Saltamachia. Thome only if you are offered something great. I still think Thome should be one of the main guys we're looking to trade. We're likely not going to be a contender during the rest of his contract, and we could get some very valuable players for him.

The Greg Walker Lynch mob thread
QUOTE(29thandPoplar @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 04:31 PM) You may very well be right. However it all depends how you look at it. Maybe it proves the players are incapable and not very bright. True, but as you know, it's a lot easier to replace one coach than 9 players, etc.

The Greg Walker Lynch mob thread
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 04:26 PM) If you listen to him on the Score he states this ALL THE TIME. Now if you can tell me where he teaches this lift and pull approach I would love to know. I have not heard it once and I have never seen it in print. The only place I ever see it is on this message board from posters such as yourself and SSI71. I think it is a made believe thing that this message board has taken and run with. It is nonsense. This just proves even more than that the needs to go, as he's not getting through to these guys. I guarantee we have the fewest opposite field homers in all of baseball this season.

Ozzie extension rumor
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 11:26 AM) Just like its not Greg Walker's fault that Dye can't hit this season, or the reason whey Konerko has struggled, or why Uribe swings at everything. Pods was interviewed after the game yesterday and he mentioned intensity and effort not being there. If Jerry Manuel were still managing the White Sox, this quote would have been a thread starter and exibit A as to why he is a terrible manager. Ozzie hasn't done that well managing the team IMO. The other day he made 5000 pitching changes in the 9th inning of a 1 run game and wound up with ARod vs. Bukvich with the bases loaded and Jenks wasn't even used. It isn't his fault the team is so bad, but then again it wasn't because of him the team won the World Series, although he was happy to accept all the credit.

2007 MLB Catch-All Thread
Heavy rumors out there that a former Major League closer passed away yesterday. The name should be released later today.

Compensation picks
Considering how awful our draft picks have been, I'd rather take the upper-echelon prospects.

Ozzie extension rumor
QUOTE(gosox41 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 02:26 AM) Exactly. Is it Ozzie's fault that when Erstand and Pods go down we get Terrero and Owens. Is it Ozzie's fault none of the relievers can get anyone out? Is he misuing them or are they just not very good. I'll go with not very good. Bob I am puzzled as to why Masset is still on the roster.

Jacque Jones to Floridaaaaa
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 01:31 AM) Yeah pretty much and the $5M he's due next season would be nothing but a burden. And KW/Ozzie's inability to handle losing is what makes me worried that they're going to try and upgrade this year's team.

Dye Not heading to the DL on Sunday
It won't be Sweeney that's called up....watch J. Jones be our starting RF on Monday.

White Sox Loser
http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines Some very strong comments by Pods. It's a good thing Ozzie likes him.

White Sox Loser
Might we be seeing Anderson getting called up for Dye? He didn't start in either game of the double header today.

Can KW get some sort of trades going?
QUOTE(29thandPoplar @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 11:45 PM) I read what was said on that site after reading the post here. It quoted Ken Rosenthal. Do you believe any of what he says? That site is just a collection of media rumors anyways. Rosenthal is the guy who said he talked to Phillies sources who said the Sox could've gotten more for Garcia. Did you believe that? Well that's good, so you're not pissed off about that then. I did not see Konerko say that, can you help a fellow fan out? 100% correct. It was on Comcast SportsNite I believe on Thursday night.

Can KW get some sort of trades going?
QUOTE(29thandPoplar @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 11:40 PM) Interesting. Where and when did he say that? Ah crap, I'm sorry. It was Konerko that said that.

Can KW get some sort of trades going?
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 10:29 PM) Paulie said he can't, so KW went back to his room. I hope the Jacques Jones to the Sox talk is garbage. I'm sick of the Sox picking up guys who can't play on horrible teams. You know what absolutely pissed me off? I heard PK say before this Sox series that this very well could be the last series that really matters for this team. Well, if that's the case, then why in the hell are you telling KW that this team can still make a run?
