  1. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 5, 2007 -> 04:23 AM) You go ahead and keep dreaming about how awesome it would be to develop someone else's problem minor leaguer, I'll take the established guy still contributing and moving him at a better market price. Isn't this KW's philosophy?
  2. People still don't want to trade Boone Logan? I never thought that I'd feel the season is over by the start of May.
  3. Here's the sad part: we face righties for the next week or so, and we have no one at all to add to this lineup to make it more dangerous. Hell, Jacque Jones would be our most dangerous hitter right now.
  4. We might be the slowest, most unathletic team in history.
  5. QUOTE(Linnwood @ May 5, 2007 -> 04:18 AM) really enjoy the Angles broadcasters talking about how the Halos are a smallball team vs. the Sox who do nothing but hit home runs.... It's very true though.
  6. We do such a good job at protecting the plate. I hope Walker's family is packing up their stuff. If KW and Ozzie don't fire him, I hope they all lose their job.
  7. Another fantastic AB by Iguchi. Fascinating that he has only 3 swings this year that resulted in an RBI.
  8. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 5, 2007 -> 04:10 AM) ...and his major league stint was comparable to Anderson's. If you are a GM of an opposing team, would you trade an effective pitcher who is signed to a fair deal over the next 2.5 years for only a Brian Anderson with wrist problems and crappier clubhouse attitude? I didn't think so either. I would, but that's to free up money for either Johan Santana, ARod, or a trade for Miguel Cabrera.
  9. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 5, 2007 -> 04:07 AM) Its funny they are worried about Hall being about to throw down to second with his arm. What does it matter. AJ has a non-injured arm and cant throw anyone out and our pitchers dont hold people on. As long as he can deliver the ball back to the pitcher bring him on. At least he can hit lefties, and hopefully allow AJ to rest. It seems that Molina is here only to be an emergency catcher.
  10. Ha, their catcher is stealing off of our lefty pitcher. This isn't even fun to watch.
  11. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ May 5, 2007 -> 04:03 AM) Milledge's AAA park is a terrible hitting park (is it Newark?). I remember reading an article about minor league park effects, and adjusted for that his numbers were significantly better. Milledge is a much prospect than anyone in the Sox organization. And if he pans out, you're getting a very charismatic, marketable player. We're going to need an attraction after Pods leaves and takes all the fat, teenage girls with him.
  12. Ozzie continues to show impeccable timing in regards to pulling his starters.
  13. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ May 5, 2007 -> 03:55 AM) Really? I would trade Danks. It's not like he's Liriano or Verlander. He has a Buehrlesque fastball. He's doing OK as a 22 year-old 5th starter in the AL, but I don't see any reason why he should be untouchable. Wow
  14. QUOTE(Capn12 @ May 5, 2007 -> 03:57 AM) Can I profess to all of you just how bad this team really is right now? If Thome can't return and be healthy the rest of the way, the BP prediction looks very possible. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 5, 2007 -> 03:58 AM) so what can we expect from him if he does regain his form? Ah who cares, let's just move him for a single minor leaguer because he costs money. Make it two minor leaguers, and it's the Garcia debacle all over again. Haha, even DJ is saying Contreras is still on the mound to try and get a win. Nothing like adding 20 pitches to the pitch count for no reason.
  15. Escobar goes 7-1 with no command and not a good splitter.
  16. I can't tell you how proud KW should be of this team. Quite the collection of talent. If we were only in the NL, we'd be fine due to not needing a DH.
  17. Please, please, please release Cintron. I'd rather see Andy Gonzalez.
  18. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 5, 2007 -> 03:51 AM) Nasty pitch. 6 IP, 6 H, 2 BB's, 6 K's 1 ER Only one of those hits was extra bases, and that was Grinderstad's f***up. I'll take that line all the time. Am I the only one who remembers how unhittable Contreras was until June last season? We all do, but that's why we're concerned with his decline in stuff. Hopefully he's found the release point on his forkball.
  19. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ May 5, 2007 -> 03:47 AM) Well, LaRussa had a DUI in March and his player died and the team is controlled by a brewery....interesting soap opera this season has become for the Cardinals. Think their fans are happy with Jocketty copying KW this offseason? No, I don't think they are happy. They shouldn't be.....that team is brutal. I wish we would have signed Preston Wilson though.
  20. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 5, 2007 -> 03:47 AM) Well considering you're 5 feet from the ledge because of Chris Young, I'll chalk him up too. Reed put up better numbers than Milledge in the minor leagues as well. Anderson has had better minor league seasons than Milledge too. No, I'm not ready to state Chris Young is a superstar. However, people that see him a lot more than you and I do think he projects to be a damn good major league player. Like I said earlier though, getting rid of Contreras in a deal is more about freeing up payroll than who we really get back.
  21. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 5, 2007 -> 03:46 AM) Fathom, what's the extent of Milledge's injury? Wrist problem, I believe.
  22. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 5, 2007 -> 03:44 AM) Do you actually think Ozzie managed the 2006 and is managing the 2007 team like the 2005 team? My biggest complaint about Ozzie last year was that he didn't adjust to the 2006 personnel. Rather, he acted like we had 2005's team still. The 2006 roster had a lot more power than the 2005 team did, yet Ozzie still tried to play smallball and give away outs. Also, our pitching was obviously tired last year, but Ozzie never, ever took out the starting pitchers sooner rather than later.
  23. On the possible bright side for me, Rowand, aboz, etc., I think there could be an issue looming which has Ozzie making an idiot out of himself written all over it. MLB is going to ban alcohol from the clubhouse...I can't wait to hear what Ozzie thinks about that.
  24. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 5, 2007 -> 03:41 AM) ....because you can get more for him. Is it a good trade for the Yankees to move A-Rod for Alex Gordon? In the long run Alex Gordon could be a good player and A-Rod could opt out of his contract, but the Yankees could get more for A-Rod. Gavin Floyd supposedly had a high ceiling as well. This organization has done a fine job of developing OF who put up better numbers than Milledge. I really don't know how much value Contreras will have with 2 yrs left on his deal at a significant amount when you add in his declining stuff. I assume you're referring to Ordonez and Lee when it comes to developing outfielders. We have no one close to their power potential in the minors right now.
