  1. Wilson is a very good ph who would provide the best power option against LHP off the bench we've had in forever. However, he might swing and miss at more pitches than any hitter I've seen in a long time. With that in mind though, I still like this signing a lot.
  2. I don't like Craig Wilson, but I like this type of thinking. He's also someone who can catch if necessary, which might give Ozzie some more flexibility.
  3. QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ May 27, 2007 -> 11:30 PM) Can somebody give me the lowdown on Prinz? What's his story, what does he throw and what can we expect from him? He's from the south suburbs. Righty reliever who throws from the side. If used properly, could be solid. I have no idea how hard he throws now though.
  4. I think it will definitely be Prinz, and it sounds like Gonzalez as well. No need for too many lefties in the bullpen.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 27, 2007 -> 10:47 PM) Do we STRETCH!!! him out? or keep him in relief? Relief....I can't fathom how he'll ever be able to get thru 3 innings with the amount of pitches he throws. I'd rather he focus on trying to throw 98 mph again.
  6. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 27, 2007 -> 10:46 PM) Certainly, and considering the people we have up to make big money or become free agents in the next couple of years, things aren't getting any better in that regard. I wasn't worried about the 2008 and 2009 seasons going into the offseason. I think everyone on here knows that the window with the Konerko, Buehrle, Crede, Garland core was closing after 2007. Our division is just too loaded for the next few years to think we won't have to rebuild and not be a WS contender for a few years.
  7. QUOTE(BearSox @ May 27, 2007 -> 10:28 PM) I disagree with no. 2. The home run to Pena was a high fly ball that carried. It wasn't hit that well at all. Take away that, and Mack giving up that triple, Vazquez has a very good day. Vazquez has to play the conditions though. If the wind is blowing out that much, then he needs to keep the ball down. He was throwing everything up in the zone today though, and the 6th inning comeback started because of walking Greg Norton to leadoff the inning.
  8. Not acquiring more major league talent this offseason is really coming back to hurt us. We're having to dig deep into our minor league system now, and those guys are never ready to contribute right away.
  9. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 27, 2007 -> 10:13 PM) You can tell Mack is injured just watching him run. If MacDougal has this problem, why is Ozzie throwing him out there every damn game? Its at least 2 and 0 on every hitter. Yeah, if they were saying this week that MacDougal's been battling an injury, then Ozzie is an even bigger idiot than I give him credit for.
  10. QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ May 27, 2007 -> 10:06 PM) And I hate the way the Sox have been playing more than anyone on this board. But a little perspective is in order. And for the record, our Sox also have a lot of talent on the team as well. They just need a little tweaking and for the talent they have to play up to their capabilities. The Cubs went out and spent a fortune...yes, they spent too much, but they acquired some very talented players this offseason. They've lost so many close games this year, and it's unlikely they'll continue to have such bad luck in one run games. I'm sure their pitching won't stay this good all year, but that team is going to have an amazing offense when the wind is blowing out. I don't know if people have been watching, but the Brewers suck. They seem to lose 4 or 5 games every week now.
  11. QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ May 27, 2007 -> 09:53 PM) I'm sure you'll be happy at Wrigley for the rest of the season. I hate the Cubs more than anyone on this site. However, they have a lot of talent on that team.
  12. QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ May 27, 2007 -> 09:48 PM) My post did not require your "fixing." This team does not suck. Quality players like Dye and Konerko have not been doing their jobs. This team does need a tweaking by KW, and although they have been playing poorly at times during the first two months, they do not suck. If they sucked, theyd be playing well under .500. If you can't stand the heat of a pennant race, go over to Wrigley. Ha...the Cubs chances of making the playoffs are much greater than the Sox's chances are. Their division might be the worst I've ever seen. The teams in the NL Central simply get their ass-kicked by teams outside their division.

I'd have to guess that Prinz, Vasquez, and Gonzalez will be on a flight to Minnesota tonight. The talent level continues to decrease.
  14. Well.....then why in the hell do you leave him out there so long? This has all the makings of a player going on the DL due to sucking.
  15. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 27, 2007 -> 09:36 PM) Ozzie leaning towards bringing up Gonzalez Super...that's going to really help out a lot.
  16. QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ May 27, 2007 -> 09:29 PM) Fixed it for you.
  17. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 27, 2007 -> 09:25 PM) Do you leave in Masset? Yeah, why the hell not? He hasn't pitched in a week....and a 4 run deficit vs Tampa is different than if you're facing a great bullpen, etc. It was another poorly managed game....but that's no shocker.
  18. And this is why you don't conceed by putting Sisco in the game.
  19. QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ May 27, 2007 -> 09:21 PM) Let's just see what they replace him with. I don't think it's possible to acquire a "bench guy" as good as Pablo (maybe Chone Figgins) and since we've been playing without a major league LF all season I suggest Kenny get one in here real quick. Either that, or a top flight SS/2B who can become the starting 2B. Have you seen Chone's numbers this year? He might be the most overrated player in baseball. Anyways, I agree with you....KW has to acquire a LF.
  20. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 27, 2007 -> 09:19 PM) This team had 2 times where we had a man on 2nd and no outs and he never leaves 2nd because of strikeouts and overswinging. And then we keep trotting out guys who have sucked for 3 or 4 weeks in a row and keep prayin g that they will snap out of it. thats our philosophy, hope they get better but do nothing to make it happen. You mean what KW's philosophy was this offseason with our offense?
  21. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 27, 2007 -> 09:15 PM) If Sisco doesnt go down soon then we are giving up this season. 5.5 out tonight if the Indians win. We are going to lose tomorrow, because thats what we do when we face Johan. So we are really setting ourselves up for a suckfest in this season. When the top 2 guys are fighting it out, and you play the Tampa bay devil rays, you are supposed to gain ground, not lose it. And then we face Halladay and Burnett next weekend. We had such a good 3rd inning against Kazmir too....it's too bad Vazquez is incapable of actually holding a lead.
  22. QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ May 27, 2007 -> 09:12 PM) Pablo was one of the better players the Sox had. The guy could fly, was a quality hitter and could play at many positions. He always gave everything he had, and got hurt giving it that extra effort trying to help the Sox win. He will truly be missed. Even before today, the Sox were playing one quality player short all season. KW better get busy gettting a major league talent in here quick. Ozuna was a solid utility player. We'll miss his hustle and versatility. However, he's someone that can be replaced if KW is smart and Ozzie doesn't get his way.
  23. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ May 27, 2007 -> 09:12 PM) I look forward to seeing Jerry Owens get a shot (I assume he's on his way). Who can come up for Crisco? Wouldn't mind seeing Russel get a chance. Owens is just what this team needs. A lefty slap hitter who stinks on defense and can't hit LHP.
  24. DJ with a load of s*** about Ozzie not being afraid to make changes. How about we plunk Dukes here?
  25. Can we please send this loser down to the minors? Man, this team is really not very good.
