White Sox vs. A's, 5/23/2007 (L)
Ozzie really has to move Iguchi back down to the 8 or 9 spot in the order. With Thome back, we can't afford a non-existent #2 hitter.

Gaudin's only allowed 5 homers in the last 120 innings or so he's pitched.

Another liner at an infielder....Oakland has a ton of those this series.

Man, Garland is Scutaro's b****.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 24, 2007 -> 01:05 AM) The bats will wake up. remember, NOBODY has been hitting this guy. Besides Cleveland....but their offense is awesome. Nice catch by Iguchi!!

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 24, 2007 -> 01:04 AM) So much for the offense being fixed. Johan on Monday should be funny. I'm not excited about facing Shields and Kazmir this weekend. I believe we'll get Santana on Monday, and we'll also see Burnett in Toronto (his stuff has been filthy lately).

Seems like Oakland has 12 defenders out there right now.

That ball was destroyed foul by Johnson.

QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ May 24, 2007 -> 12:51 AM) when did Chad Gaudin become Catfish Hunter? We're having better at-bats so far tonight than we did against him in April. Hopefully we can score some runs against him, but I don't like Garland's chances of keeping the A's to below 3 runs.

Well, that's just f***ing stupid. Two bad base running plays so far in 4 plays....not a good percentage.

QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ May 24, 2007 -> 12:39 AM) nice arm on cintron. hurts to watch him throw. I was thinking we might need a cut-off man on any throws from him.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ May 24, 2007 -> 12:33 AM) What started off looking good turned out like s***. Great job offense! Iguchi at least made a hard out for once. Ozzie needs to be more aggressive today, as Gaudin is basically impossible to homer against. Erstad misreading that fly ball might have cost us a run. Scutaro is now 8-11 vs Garland. Garland better start pitching inside.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ May 24, 2007 -> 12:31 AM) Can someone buy Hawk a new pair of glasses? That wasn't even REMOTELY close. Close enough for the greatest base runner ever to not tag.

Could have been worse....defensive positioning hurt Garland more than anything else that inning. QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ May 24, 2007 -> 12:26 AM) that was terrible terrible alignment Very similar to that Kendall AB a few years ago where we gave him basically the entire right side of the infield. With Konerko holding on the runner with Crosby up, there's no excuse for that positioning.

White Sox vs. A's, 5/23/2007 (L)
What in the hell is going on with our positioning? If you're going to keep pitching players away, then why are you shading up the middle?
-
White Sox vs. A's, 5/23/2007 (L)
Great pitch by Garland on the 3-2 pitch. Crosby is a dangerous hitter against Garland in the past.

Holy cow, has anyone seen the OPS for Chone Figgins this year?
-
White Sox vs. A's, 5/23/2007 (L)
Not off to a good start. With a runner on first base, that's too dramatic of a shift. I wonder how long before Hawk blames Sisco for this.

QUOTE(BlackBetsy @ May 23, 2007 -> 05:11 PM) Let me also add that Jermaine Dye has been as good or better than Magglio Ordonez from 2005 to the present at less than 1/2 the salary. Dye - .286 / .345 (ish) / .556 with 85 HR, 231 RBI and 195 R ($16 million salary) Ordonez - .306 / .366 (ish) / .493 with 42 HR, 190 RBI and 157 R ($39 million salary) Sure, Maggs was hurt much of '05...but that's part of the issue. He is more injury prone now. Not to mention that Dye plays plus D in RF. I'll trade the 20 points of OBP (artificially depressed by Jermaine's cold start) for 60 points of slugging, even if the Cell is more hitter friendly, for $23 million less. Face facts, Jermaine Dye is one of the best free agent signings the Sox have EVER made. (Probably best signings - (1) Carlton Fisk; (2) Jermaine Dye; (3) Tom Seaver) I think this is a great post besides for one statement you make. Dye's first two years with this organization are as memorable as anyone has ever had.

Need as many lefties in our lineup tonight as possible. If Uribe is able to play tonight, then put Cintron at 2nd base. Gaudin made our righty hitters look silly last time.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 23, 2007 -> 03:29 AM) Rich Hill throwing BP David Aardsma and Rich Hill both with some interesting stretches over the last two seasons. Both started off also, and then at the end of 2006 and beginning of 2007, they were the best at their position. Now, both seem to have lost velocity and command.
