QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 02:51 AM) Why make all these moves? Thome is going to be out maybe 15 games more or less. It's not the end of the world and no need to shuffle an entire roster. Settle down folks! You honestly believe Thome will be fine after two weeks?

QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 02:26 AM) *Waiting for the first Rowand post* Should have acquired him when his value was low. He'll be back here, but not until he's a FA.
-
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 02:17 AM) Sweeney hasn't dominated anything since HS. Why should we expect him to do it at teh major league level, besides your generally insane projections. Especially given how well our prospects do in their first few years in the majors.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 02:14 AM) The pitching of this current team is no where near as good as the '05 team. It's not even close. And the AL Central and whole AL is so much better as well.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 02:11 AM) Yes because this team is so comparable to '05. If the Sox could find someone to put up 23 HR and 84 RBI to fill the DH role like Everett did in '05 I would feel a whole lot better. I think we have more blown saves already this year than we did throughout 2005.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 02:09 AM) Well, the plan is for Sweeney to dominate, never go to AAA again, and say goodbuy to Pods. Anderson stays down, and when Thome comes back, Logan would then go down. Sweeney reminds me so much of Sean Burroughs. I don't see any possibility that he can dominate at this level.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 02:05 AM) Milwaukee needs bullpen help, right? Of course, if Jenkins were to be acquired, that would sadly mean the end of the Scott Podsednik era. There's no way they'd trade him right now, especially with so many righty pitchers in their division. If they really wanted to trade him, he would have been gone over the offseason. I don't know who they'd want out of our bullpen right now that would be realistically available. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 02:07 AM) That's why it'll never happen. We'll just have to put up with Podsednik's light hitting sucktitude for another few months, until he's inevitably released. Are you kidding me? Pods will have the injury excuse for the rest of the season. I'm sure we'll all get sick of the injury talk over the next month or so if this offense goes into a massive funk.
-
Now I really wish we never traded Gload.
-
First time I've heard Sox and hit in the same sentence today.
-
QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 01:53 AM) Ozzie said he won't get a whole lot of playing time. I'll be pissed if I see Cintron playing ahead of Sweeney. Yep, since our bench has been an absolute disaster so far this year.
-
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 01:49 AM) Geoff Jenkins. They're playing too well. I had thought of that. I honestly think we might bring back Timo.
-
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 01:50 AM) f*** Jacque Jones. If we're trading for a Cubs outfielder it better be Matt Murton; someone who actually hits lefthanders. I know the concern with Thome out would be a bat capable of handling righties, but I absolutely HATE the idea of Jones. I'd rather take my chances with Mackowiak. We are taking a chance with Mackowiak....but we still need one more bat with Pods out also.
-
QUOTE(Capn12 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 01:48 AM) This team is in disarray without JT in the middle. Say what you want, but there is no killer instinct at the plate, and NO ONE to bring up that can contribute much at the major league level. Kinda disheartening right now. We need to start hitting well, or we might return from this upcoming road trip 5 games or so out of the lead.
-
Wow, that pitch wasn't even close. Nothing more pathetic than a game decided on the first batter. We're screwed!
-
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 01:44 AM) I suppose, but if sacrificing one year means we're better in 2008-2012, I'll gladly make that exchange. I don't know why you think he's failed so much. My only issue with KW is resigning Podsednik. That roster spot can be used for so many better things. But even that's not a collosal mistake -- he'll be gone next year (or should be), and it's a mistake that's only costing us $3 million bucks. The only spot KW upgraded this team was at back-up catcher, but Ozzie ruined that. He didn't significantly improve our starting spot, relief core, or offense. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 01:44 AM) Cintron is SO LOCKED in right now... Do you have any faith in Ozzie handling this DH debacle the right way?
-
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 01:42 AM) Where do we find this competent DH? Is it really worth giving up too much for one when you consider Thome will be here next season? Even one which isn't highly regarded, we're going to pay more then necessary. Find a guy who will be a FA after this year or can play in LF. I know some might hate him, but Jacque Jones is someone who could really help this team.
-
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 01:38 AM) But you can't sacrifice 2008-2012 either, though. Even with a healthy Thome, the odds are stacked against this team. And that really has nothing to do with this team, per se -- it's just, there are three other very good teams in this division. I know it's a defeatist attitude to say something like this, but chances are we don't win the division. Then we might as well hope to struggle enough to be far out of competition by the trade deadline so we can get a return on Buehrle and Dye. There's no excuse to have the odds stacked against this team. KW failed this offseason in regards to 2007.
-
With Thome out for a while, can we just switch to the NL for the next few months? There's no way we can get by with someone like Cintron or Anderson as the DH.
-
What does Egbert throw? I hope all these low ERAs are a sign of us having some good pitching as opposed to just weak hitting leagues. I've been told that the hitting in the International League is about the worst the league's ever seen. Some fantastic defense plays that inning. Can we get the tying run up to the dish?
-
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 01:31 AM) Heck yes. Even if Thome isn't going to be 100 percent until July, I don't like the idea of making any trades. How do we know if this team would be in contention even if he were healthy? If they're bad, they're bad. It'll be because other players haven't turned themselves around, and/or the pitching collapsed. You'd be doing this team a disservice though to not field a competent DH. With Thome and Pods not coming back until June, you can't let this team fall too far behind. Considering this is likely our last year to compete for the championship for the next few years, you can't sit on your hands and do nothing.
-
It's going to be a very, very long road trip.
-
I hate games that are decided after the first batter of the game.
-
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 01:19 AM) I'm still under the belief Williams should avoid any upgrades out of the organization. Don't make any drastic decisions. It's much too early to know anything; including how this time will react if Thome is out for an extended period of time. You just are afraid we'll trade a pitching prospect. BTW, Thome won't be close to 100 pct until at least the ASB.
-
Oh boy, I love this offense. KW has his work cut out for him, as we're going to need an upgrade.
-
Iguchi has really looked bad in some recent ABs.
