Halladay has control of his curve now. It's too bad we couldn't capitalize on all the hangers in the 1st inning.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 11:45 PM) Dear God, is Juan trying his damndest to throw spiff away? As someone who played SS during his baseball career, it definitely becomes a confidence issue after a while. You start to aim the ball over to first, and that results in the throws having a lot less velocity on it.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 11:43 PM) Yeah I know. I was just responding to the question as to why he was in the LINEUP. That is why I previously asked about Anderson and Mack starting in the same game I don't see why we don't try it.

QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 11:40 PM) Then, you'll complain about Sandy to no end. It's not the manager, it's the players. Your blame is, for the most part, misdirected. I will absolutely blame the manager when he continues to play a corner outfielder in CF. Seriously, how many times does Mackowiak have to mess up out there before they realize he shouldn't be out there?

QUOTE(iguchi=dank @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 11:40 PM) I understand ozzie wants macks bat in games. But put him in for gooch/pods/crede if he plays a crapload of games in a row.. I mean.... Its Obvious and its been obvious he can't handle CF and todays game might be the highlight of the year for this where the 2nd batter in the game makes ozzie pay. Now, since this is the most glaring play so far this year, early so its easy to see, Will HE LEARN......I think he keeps doing it until one more screwup. Most glaring play? He's had other just as bad, if not worse.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 11:40 PM) I know I'm a bit behind in relation to the game, but Garland pitching 6 CONSECUTIVE OUTSIDE PITCHES to Glaus was atrocious. Pierzynski deserves most of the blame for that. He was comfortable on the corner -- since it was obvious that was their intended target -- and Pierzynski called a changeup DESPITE the fact Glaus has yet to catch up to his fastball. It's embarrassing. Great, great observation by you. I thought he kept playing with fire by pitching it outside, and I was hoping he'd throw his sinker.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 11:38 PM) I have no idea why umpires like Bucknor, Angel Hernandez, and Bruce Froemming still have jobs in the league. As soon as I saw C.B. behind the plate, I knew it wouldn't be pretty.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 11:35 PM) Of cfourse not. Ozzie has double standards, some people get treated completely harsh and ran over, while others get away with everything. He should be fired and I've been calling for it for some time now (ever since the Tracey incident which I thought was complete and utter garbage; than again after the Garland incident and for the fact that he did absolutely nothing to try and get the tema fired back up when they were in a major funk, ie base running; afterall, Hawk kept saying he wouldn't just sit around, but thats all Ozzie's done this year). My only wish is that if we tank the rest of the year, Ozzie will quit. Then, Sandy can retire, and he'll become manager.

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 11:35 PM) I'm beginning to really believe that. This $hit is becoming BEYOND frustrating now. This is not a playoff team, and by the end of the month we will probably be out of the race. I know this sounds VERY harsh, but it's EXTREMELY hard to be confident about this team right now, especially with Oz in the driver seat..................I sincerely hope I'm wrong, but at this point i doubt it, We have an absolutely scary schedule coming up. If we keep playing as badly as we have against good teams, we'll be out of the race in 2 weeks.

Play Ozzie for a week
NEVER, EVER PLAY MACKOWIAK IN CF AGAIN. If you want to get him playing time, bench Mr. Podsednik.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 11:33 PM) Think Ozzie will beach at Mack for not playing defense well enough in CF, just to see how ironic things can get? Why can't we bench a manager for lack of effort?

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 11:32 PM) Face it people, we aren't a good team. Good teams don't have piece of spiff pitching staffs. Thats the bottom line. Oh and our defense is blowing things big time and considering we have a kick butt defense, we also have a manager thats absolutely horrible because he's done his best to at times ruin our defense. Yep...unless we get absolutely hot and start playing well, we're not going anywhere. People have to stop thinking our pitchers are going to revert to how they were last season. It's been over a 100 games already....this is how they are.

3-0 deficit in the first inning against Halladay. Pick up up tomorrow Javy.

Official Game Thread 8/4 - Sox vs Jays 6:05
We suck...and so does our manager. Hey Jon....you might want to use your sinker, instead of your AWFUL changeup, on a homer hitter. Is it me, or does Garland give up almost every homer on his change?

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 11:24 PM) Its not Mack's fault anymore. Its now Ozzie and KW's fault for not recognizing a huge problem that occurs almost every game Mack is in CF. Yeah, I don't even know how the biggest Ozzie supporters can still stick up for this decision.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 11:23 PM) When will Ozzie learn? I don't know, but it's embarrassing. He must be watching a different team on the field than we are.

Would have been nice to get some runs that inning, as Halladay was hanging almost every curve he threw. At least we got that pitch count up though. BTW, Pods keeps getting robbed by the 1B.

Thome and Konerko are playing, and Mackowiak is in CF. At least Ozzie learns.....right?

And that's a White Sox loser
Quickly reviewing our schedule and that of Boston/NY....if the Sox don't play at least .500 baseball over the next two weeks, we're going to find ourselves about 5 games out of the WC race. Boston has a 9 game stretch against the worst teams in the AL coming up, and the Yanks have 7 games against the Orioles, and 3 vs the Sox. Basically, it's now or never for this team to live up to their paper championship predictions.

Questions on Freddys Fast ball
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 10:21 PM) He got his fastball back in 2004 though. He was consistently hitting 94-97 on the gun, he just had absolutely no control of it at all and was very ineffective. He went from the high 90s to 93 consistently. That shouldn't be happening to someone his age.

Questions on Freddys Fast ball
QUOTE(shoota @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 09:57 PM) Billy Koch. He lost his fastball in less than half a year. He had it in October with the A's and didn't have it the next March with the Sox. I wonder how that happened?

Questions on Freddys Fast ball
QUOTE(Jake @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 08:32 PM) I think it's at least in part personal choice. He's spoken to the media about the decision, and in clutch situations I've seen him in the low to mid 90's. I believe someone with Garcia's winning past would be wise enough to quit the BS if he really thought that. He's hurting himself and his team with his velocity this season.

what is your ideal offseason for the sox
QUOTE(champ @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 07:42 PM) We have young, and CHEAP corner outfielders waiting...why not? Why not? Both Fields and Sweeney have some question marks about how much offense they'll produce in the majors.
