QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 1, 2006 -> 08:27 PM) Cmon fathom. Post something that I can argue with. won't be an official game thread until you do No way jphat, I'm saving those comments for the regular season. I know, this is weird. I can't start b****ing about Ozzie, and you can't start saying every out was tough luck.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Mar 1, 2006 -> 05:38 PM) It would be fitting if Frank wasn't there and didn't contribute at all. You know, like the entire postseason and most of the regular season. Hell of a post

I miss Timo's presence in the lineup already. OMIT THOME!

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 1, 2006 -> 05:42 AM) At least we got a W on senior night. Great news for ISU with Stinson saying he's coming back. -
Who are you picking to win it all?

I'd love to see anyone but UCONN, Duke, or Illinois. My dream Final Four would be LSU, WVU, Washington, and Tennessee. -

QUOTE(illinilaw08 @ Mar 1, 2006 -> 03:49 AM) Agreed it should have been an intentional foul. I also think Pruitt got fouled. Both plays were potential turning points in the game. This game's officiating has been very inconsistent IMO. I never saw the replay on the Pruitt play. That was one of those hard to call plays where you have to focus on the ball in the shooter's hands. The intentional foul should have been clear as day. -

How in the f*** wasn't that an intentional foul called on Dee? The funny thing is that Illini fans are freaking out about the refs, and that non-intentional foul was a turning point in this game. -
Kelvim Escobar deserves a playoff share from the Sox, just like Brad Lidge, Dmitri Young, and the umpiring crews.

I hadn't seen the actual video of what KW said until tonight on SportsCenter. Holy cow was KW angry during his tirade. That definitely wasn't the reaction of someone responding only to Frank's latest interview. That seemed like about 5 years of built-up hatred towards Thomas.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 11:47 PM) Frank said what half the Sox fans in Chicago have been thinking for a long time. Good for him We have? I thought it was more what half the Sox fans in Chicago have been thinking regarding Frank for a long time. I've read plenty of comments from Frank over the last 10 years which made me think he was making idiotic comments.

Thomas takes high road in response to Williams
fathom replied to greasywheels121's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Both of these guys are at fault. Frank started it, but KW couldn't keep his mouth quiet. The one thing this whole saga does it make me appreciate that we brought in a class-act in Jim Thome. BTW, I don't know if this train of thought has been brought up, but I know we're supposed to appreciate Frank for all the years he played for the Sox. On the other hand, I felt like Frank disrespected those same Sox fans who helped pay his huge salaries when he said he wouldn't have attended the parade or thrown out the first pitch of Game 1. -
Thomas takes high road in response to Williams

I was critical of Frank, but I'm proud of the way he responded to this today. Everyone just needs to move on, and both the White Sox and Frank Thomas are better off now that he's out of the organization. -
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 04:27 AM) Do you honestly feel he would've ridden on the bench as a non-active, if he didn't give a s*** about the team during the playoffs? He didn't have to be here. He was there by choice. That's exactly the point I was trying to make before. I don't think he would have been here if he didn't care. However, I also thought he cared more than saying he wouldn't have wanted to participate in the events. My hope is that Thome hits 35 homers this year, and makes KW, the general manager, look good.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 04:26 AM) Disagree completely. I do believe that, to some degree, FT really does feel betrayed. I think he's wrong, and it will go away, but it's not unexpected, and not some sign that he was disingenuous. Here's the thing I don't get....I didn't hear a single rumor that said Frank was going to be brought back to the club. Frank's acting like he thought it was a sure thing he would be brought back. My opinion is that Frank's acted like a jilted ex-boyfriend who's trying to make the Sox look bad by saying they made him promises, etc.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 04:23 AM) You know he's just angry. Nothing more than that; I can't see him really meaning all that. Do you honestly feel he was just putting on a "politically correct" act at the end of his White Sox tenure? I was watching the WS DVD the other night, and they have footage of him saying stuff on the field right after the World Series was over. Do you honestly believe that the first thing on his mind was to say the perfect thing? I don't think so. It's too hard to tell. He seemed so excited at the time. Now, when you hear comments about how he wouldn't have attended the parade/throw out first pitch, you really wonder how he really feels. Not for once did I expect Frank to leave quietly, but I wish it didn't become a big issue like this.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 04:21 AM) Define unsuccessful. What are you expecting in '06? Make the playoffs. That's all I'm asking for. We've put a lot of our resources into this season, and have given up some important pieces for the future. I don't care if they get swept in the first round of the playoffs.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 04:17 AM) Ahh, Frank is unprofessional. Kenny, a team executive, can call the best Sox player ever a selfish idiot, and it's completely justified. Gotcha. Also, I find there to be a huge difference between complaining about a person's actions (like what KW said) and Frank's comments about how he wouldn't have thrown out the first pitch/attend the parade. After all the comments that Frank made about how important getting the ring was, it sure seems like a bunch of bulls*** now.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 04:17 AM) Ahh, Frank is unprofessional. Kenny, a team executive, can call the best Sox player ever a selfish idiot, and it's completely justified. Gotcha. I've had about 3 posts today where I said KW was completely unprofessional with his comments today. I'm embarrassed with all of this s***, and I think it's a pathetic way to start the season for the defending champions. All I know is that KW and Ozzie can do no wrong with many of us right now, but if they have an unsuccessful season this year, they better get ready to have to defend any stop comments they make with the media.
-
QUOTE(The Critic @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 03:58 AM) Frank lost me when he said that he wouldn't have taken part in the parade or the first-pitch ceremony if he knew he wasn't being brought back. Right there he showed it was more about "me" than "we". Exactly, that was the statement which made me think was a totally asshole. It's almost amazing that a professional would say such a selfish statement like that.

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 02:46 AM) Roberto Alomar and Miguel Olivo left on awful terms. Don't you remember Alomar pretty much calling KW a liar. Olivo cried when he was traded.
-
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 02:40 AM) I truly believe things would be different had they sat Frank down and told them what their plans were. You'd think with all the money these guys make, they'd be able to afford phones so they could call each other?
-
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 02:36 AM) Never even implied that. The question was could there possibly be any truth, even a little, to what Frank is saying. And props to Konerko for taking a few less million to stay with the Sox. But let's be honest, it's not like he made some monumental sacrafice. And if the Sox hadn't went 5 years, something they didn't want to do, we would be talking about Konerko and how he makes the Angels the team to beat. This stuff happens with every organization. Did people really expect a pleasant "break-up" with Thomas? The guy has rarely said the right thing in the media. It's funny how a few years ago, there were arguments about who's the bigger asshole, Frank or Sammy Sosa. One guy was a steroid using ass, and the other is a non-steroid using ass. The sooner this nonsense blows over, the better it will be for the Sox.
-
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 02:30 AM) But is Frank lying, though? We know what happened with Maggs last year. Ventura didn't leave on the best of terms. Ozzie even admitted he was pissed off at the way he left. Again, Frank should keep quiet. But is there any truth to what he's saying? Yep, our organization is so s***ty that Paul Konerko turned down more money and a better location in order to stay with the Sox.
-
QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Feb 27, 2006 -> 02:08 AM) i agree. I think Kenny has done a fine job as a GM however he needs to shut up. Frank didn't say anything that was that bad to be honest. It was nowhere close to what Magglio said last year. Frank came across as one thing in particular....an IDIOT! And that's exactly what KW said he was acting like.
-
Kenny did more to win us a World Series than Frank ever did. Frank's whiny attitude and b****ing won't be missed. I won't shed a tear if he doesn't hit another homer in his career.
