I used to really like DaVanon, but he sucked last season. 2 homers in nearly 225 ABs was well below his totals from the previous seasons (makes you scratch your head in today's baseball world). Honestly, I'd rather have Borchard as the 4th OF than DaVanon, even though both would be significant upgrades over Timo. The thing is, it doesn't matter who the hell I want as the 4th outfielder, Ozzie isn't a big Borchard fan, and we all know what happens to people Ozzie doesn't like.....THEY GONE!

- No doubt in my mind Willie's gone - We need a 4th outfielder who can hit righty

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 03:25 PM) He was awesome in August and September when he gave up on his team. I think his OPS was all the way up to .700 for those two months. We don't need high priced drama. I like Juan. I must be watching different games than others, because I think Tejada would be a huge upgrade over Uribe. If you put Tejada on our team instead of Uribe, the offense would be improved to the point where you could trade Garland and still feel like you have enough to compete for the championship. Also, I'm not too worried about Tejada's attitude. A lot of s*** went down with the Orioles, and I'm sure if he was in a competitive situation, he'd be busting his ass for 162 games.

QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 03:20 PM) i dont see tejada diving to stands catching a ball in the world series. Ill stick with juan Urbie If you had the choice between either Tejada or Uribe, I'd gladly say adios to Uribe. Tejada's one of the best players in baseball.

QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 02:38 PM) Its okay. he was nothing special. If we are going to trade Marte we should go after someone with more success than Marte. I think Rincon is that guy. He's still out there and every time we've hit against him- we struggled. I like his stuff. Bring him aboard KW. I'm sure A.J. will give you solid insight on this 'keed'. A.J. and Ricardo Rincon? I think you're mistaking Ricardo for Juan Rincon, who's on the Twins.

Am I the only one that thinks the Cubs could try and get Tejada? They have a lot of money to spend, an opening at SS, and some top prospects they could trade.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 01:20 AM) So in other words...if we play Crede until he falls into a slump, bench him, play Machowiak until he falls into a slump, revert back to Crede...we can manufacture ourselves a .330, 40 home run guy @ 3rd base? In all honesty, they're two of the streakiest hitters I've seen.
-
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 01:07 AM) I thought Mackowiak was actually clutch? If he is, then there's really no argument for having Timo over him. I've seen him get quite a few clutch hits. He's very streaky, and will go through stretches where a 10 yr old girl can throw a pitch past him. However, he's a great addition to this team, and he's a real good guy.
-
I really hope the Cubs don't try to get him.

I'm so sick of everyone b****ing about not having 2 lefty relievers in the pen. Do people not forget that we have the best lefty closer in the history of the playoffs?
-
The more I think about, the harder it's going to be to replace the best lead off hitter we have on our roster.
-
I think we need a back-up outfielder with some power, possibly from the right side of the plate.
-
Please......that would be great news if we OMIT TIMO!
-
I couldn't be happier to get one of my favorite players in baseball for a reliever who didn't trust his stuff, who Ozzie didn't have confidence in, and who the fans would boo off the field the first time he walks his only batter next season. GREAT JOB KW!

QUOTE(qwerty @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 06:22 AM) Blue jays have quickly turned into one of the worst orginizations evAr. Nothing else really to say other than they are imbeciles. They brought in Burnett, Ryan, and Overbay. Did they overpay? Yes, but that's still 3 very talented players that will make them better than they were last season.
-
Shea wasn't included in the deal. Also, don't forget that the Brewers potentially have a big time prospect in Ryan Braun, their first round pick from last year. I'm not sure if he'll remain at 3rd base, but he can definitely hit.
-
I don't get this trade at all. Lorreta is a damn good hitter.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 07:15 AM) Frank says he's healed right now. While I'm not saying that it's not true, I highly doubt a free agent would go around telling teams that he's still hurting.
-
Well, the information I was told was from the previous regime, so that's promising to see for Upton. They might as well let him and Delmon learn at the MLB level.

QUOTE(sircaffey @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 07:39 PM) Wasn't Cotts dominating in the pen before the decided to try and start him? Then after he failed in the rotation, he sucked in the pen. I seem to remember that being the case. Cotts is too valuable in the pen to screw with. If Jon is traded, El Duque and BMac round out the rotation anyways. I'd rather have Cotts start than Duque. Cotts has a much better chance to not be mediocre, which is basically what Duque will be as a starting pitcher.
-
There are serious doubts within the Tampa organization about whether or not Upton will ever be good enough defensively to play SS.
-
Borchard's likely not going to be on the team.
-
QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 05:44 PM) Cotts. Most definitely. I think it's worth the shot. Seriously, what's there to lose? If it doesn't work out, he can still be a strong lefty reliever out of the pen. Considering that he holds the opposition to a low batting average, it's just a matter of him being able to limit his pitch count and have control on a consistent basis.
-
As long as Ozzie is the manager and Uribe's on the team, Timo will be on the roster.
-
I'll take Willis, and realize that not only do you have a lefty with great stuff, but you also have a charismatic superstar who will sell tickets. McCarthy is way too much of an unknown right now.
