  1. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 12:15 AM) Freddy looks like he's got nothing tonite so far. Who comes in if he starts getting shellacked?? He'll have to give up 10 runs to not pitch 6 innings.
  2. Absolutely awful focus out of the box by Garcia again. We're lucky it's not 3-0 already.
  3. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 08:02 PM) What's the logic behind that one? A psychologist would have a field day with some of the defense mechanisms I've seen by people on this board lately. My personal favorite is that the Sox have nothing to lose.
  4. That's about as dumb as the people who think the Sox are better off not making the playoffs instead of winning the Wild Card.
  5. QUOTE(VAfan @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 05:53 PM) The Sox have nothing to lose. And if they play like it, I think this Sox team is still destined to do something really great - win in the postseason. Because this team plays its best baseball when no one, absolutely no one, thinks they have any chance. The Sox have everything to lose the last two weeks of this season. The next 3 years of this organization could be shaped with what happens in the next 14 games.
  6. This series is a good time for two of our so-called starts, Garcia and Pods, to step up their games. It's obvious what Garcia has to do. On the other hand, Pods is finally facing a team with a poor throwing catcher. Pods has got to get his confidence back on the bases!
  7. It's too bad we're not in the NBA, as the NY Knicks would sure love to take Duque's contract off of our hands.
  8. Rangers will want Contreras, and not Duque. El Duque has absolutely no trade value this offseason. I would do Contreras, Marte, and Sweeney for Blalock and another player. That would significantly upgrade our offense, and we'd be getting maximum value out of Contreras.
  9. With the intensity and momentum the Indians are bringing into the Cell, I don't care what he has to do, Garcia has to come out of the gate with focus and concentration. The last thing we can afford is the Indians to put up a 3 spot in the first inning.
  10. Dusty's letting Zambrano throw over 120 pitches into the 9th inning for absolutely no reason.
  11. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 08:41 PM) Oh come on, it's football day...you mean you weren't sitting there with a bag of chips flipping back and forth between the Sox game and the Patriots/Panthers game? I polished off like 2/3 of that damn bag. And sometime around inning 7 I stopped flipping channels, except during breaks (no ad dollars for those Twins broadcasters) I don't like to eat during Sox games. I was flipping during the early part of the game with the Bears game, but I realized the Bears game was over, and our game would be close.
  12. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 08:38 PM) When Marte throws strikes between 93 to 95 mph...he is virtually unhittable. He threw strikes, with the fastball, 93 to 95. Marte's big problem had been his slider, and the lack of control he had on it. In order to throw it for a strike, he had to hang it. He stuck with fastballs today, and he seemed to have a less violent delivery.
  13. QUOTE(rangercal @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 08:38 PM) took you a while. let's just say you guys aren't quick to come around when we win. Yet, if we were to have lost you guys would have made 3-4 negative threads by now. I'll speak for myself, and say that after sitting in the same spot on my couch for the whole game, I needed to stand up, breathe, and get something to eat.
  14. I'm not a fan of Ozzie at all. However, I give him credit for sticking with his gut this wknd and letting Marte gain his confidence and become a difference maker again for this team. That's the epitome of the "win or die trying" attitude! Also, it seems as if Jenks has become our closer. I don't have a problem with that at all. Our hitting still sucks, but at this time of the season, all that matters is the W or L.
  15. QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 08:24 PM) If it works, Ozzie is still going to get burned here for taking the chance. No, people will say he showed balls by taking the chance. We're not that big of assholes that a guy will get two outs, and still bash the choice. A lot of us disagree with it and would have done something else, but we're still satisfied with the results.
  16. Haha, seen that before. Looks like it will be Jenks here! GREAT JOB MARTE! Nice to see someone with balls on this team. P.S. I still disagree w/the move. However, I'm a Sox fan first, and then an Ozzie hater. I'll always cheer for the Sox, no matter what move he makes.
  17. Jones typically kills us in these situations.
  18. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 08:22 PM) hard to believe Damaso has gone from expendable to essential just like that Well said
  19. It's Marte. I disagree with this call BIG TIME!
  20. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 08:20 PM) On second thought, I agree with that. Either stay with Contreras, or go to Jenks. No middle-man BS in Marte. Contreras is done. He was shaking guys hands in the dugout.
  21. Who's better....Jenks or Marte? It's Jenks, put him in! BTW, there's going to be quite a meltdown if we lose this game.
