QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:56 AM) Mac just goes back and makes another good pitch...WOOT Mrs. McCarthy....shouldn't you be at the game?
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:55 AM) Damn, talk about ballsy. I love that pitch sequence right there. Talk about throwing changeups and totally has Mench tied up. Too bad Widgemeister drops it. Battle through it Mac Are you more nervous or excited tonight?
-
Good job by McCarthy. This team is definitely jumpy right now.
-
Unbelievable...simply unbelievable. Is there any chance we get Mench out now?
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:53 AM) That was a wicked hook Bmac just threw to Soriano. That ball just dropped to the ground and Soriano weekly grounded out. I flinched a little when it was hit, worried it would eat up Blum at 3b. Then, I realized it was Ozuna at 3b, and got even more nervous. That should have been strike 3 on Mench.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:52 AM) Except you needed 3 feet each side to be successful. My bad - had to do it. PERSONAL ATTACK! BTW, I think there should be a penalty flag icon we can post with these new rules.
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:51 AM) Probably was, but than again, so was Bmac's pitch to Texiera that was called strike 3. Of course I'm bias, I'm a fan of pitching and tend to think everything semi near the plate is a strike, lol. I guess its the pitcher in me Oh ya, when you're facing a hitting team like the Rangers, you want as big of a zone as possible.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:50 AM) I still point to the law of averages. There is no way this club will continue to fail with runners in scoring position like it has the past 3 weeks. They are solid hitters (no this isn't a great offensive team, but its certainly capable of being a good one) and sometime soon the club is going to start hitting better than average with runners in scoring position. It will all even itself out, imo and I really think were gonna see this offense go on a decent tear at somepoint during the remainder of the season. Compared to the last few weeks, the last 2 and a half games have been offensive tears. All I know is the Dye is the key to this offense. He's the connecting force between the top and bottom of the order.

QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 05:26 PM) Well, his job isn't to be a Sox ass-kisser (thats Hawk's department). He's just a very skeptical Sox fan. He's like fathom, only funnier. (Just messing with ya fathom) Funny thing is that I really enjoy Bernstein and Boers. I think Bernstein is even more critical of the Sox than I am though.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:48 AM) Shows what I know, stays outside and made a perfect pitch. And a very nice outside zone also. That ball looked to be off the plate by a few inches.
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:48 AM) He's definately trying to go to right field here. If I were the Rangers I'd try to bust him in on a fastball here. He's so in between at the plate right now. His entire upper body is flying open, but his hands are dragging trying to hit the ball to RF. I guess we can't get too upset with RISP and Iguchi, as he hit the homer off of Seattle. However, it's been a real struggle for him lately.
-
Uribe seems to be distracting the runners at 2nd base.
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:46 AM) Good point on the control aspect. But I gotta admit, I'm so comfortable when Guchi is up with runners on. He's just such a smart hitter. I don't know what the stats say though. I'm pretty sure in the last few months, he's in the low 100s with RISP.
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:45 AM) I'm guessing Pods is taking, but if he ever wanted to let one rip this would be the time. He took a good swing on the 2-1.
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:44 AM) He does Do you consider bunting Pods right here even though it means you have 2 outs for Guchi? I know its not the smart thing to do, but I like the odds of a single scoring two and I think Guchi is about as clutch of a hitter as the club has. Come on Pods He's struggling with his control. The last thing you do is give up an out by bunting. Also, it's not like Iguchi has been getting hits with RISP lately.
-
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:44 AM) Promptly 2 straight walks, I love how that kinda thing works. With that in mind, Pods has done a terrible job driving the ball to the gaps this year.
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:43 AM) They got one for you, maybe Juan will shock us and get one too I know, it figures it would be Uribe. My post dealt more with drawing walks on a full count. I would never, ever throw a Sox player a 2-2 fastball or even a 3-2 fastball.
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:38 AM) It also helps that Widger is behind the plate, imo. I should add, Sox are going to put up a few runs this inning. This is gonna be a Sox whooping tonight and I think the double hitter and getting to see so many pitches in one day is really going to help this club. JD with a bomb as I'm typing this Enjoy this game. Something was I going to type last night was that as bad as it seems right now with the Sox, at least every game means something. Who knows, maybe we'll be 20 games out at this time next season, and trading away some of our favorite players.
-
QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:38 AM) Not to make the obvious understatement but the White Sox need this game BADLY. Biggest game of the year so far. Yes it is. When you have a 7 game lead and a DH that day, if you don't lose any ground, you should be content.
-
One thing I've noticed is that we're doing a terrible job of drawing walks. We get to a 3-2 count, and we swing at a ton of pitches out of the zone.
-
QUOTE(the southside tiger @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:36 AM) Dont even joke. Ozzie would do something like that. I know, he already has. It was just a joke to try and lighten the mood around here. It's scary when I'm not even close to being the most pessimistic poster today. Way to go JD!
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:36 AM) I'm assuming that was Widge behind the plate? Yes
-
QUOTE(the southside tiger @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:34 AM) Why do both mlb.com and espn.com say Marte is pitching? Do these guys compete to be the s***tiest websites out there? Ozzie brought in Marte after one batter because he didn't want McCarthy to get the loss.
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:34 AM) Now thats what I'm freaking talking about. He threw a few nasty changeups Yes he did look much better. There's no room to relax though against the Rangers. I was very happy with what I saw though.
-
Someone needs to teach McCarthy how to catch the ball! Why can't any of our infielders catch now?
