  1. Tigers with another pathetic effort tonight against the Indians. How can that much offensive talent suck so bad?
  2. Lots of runners left on base by both teams so far.
  3. 2 pitches, 2 outs to end the inning.
  4. Contreras got clocked as high as 97 mph.
  5. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 12:31 AM) Well, we didn't put anything on the board, but if nothing else, that was a 30 pitch first inning for Brown. I love it when our hitters use a little bit of patience. This guy has a real solid sinker, so the more patience our hitters have, the better chance they have at getting a cookie. Rowand had some pitches up in the zone to hammer, but he was late.
  6. Good play by Pablo. Nice to see Contreras escape that inning without his best stuff.
  7. A little surprised that Everett keeps getting put in the lineup. Can't complain about the rest of the lineup though. Wood is a sinker baller, so we need to avoid the double plays tonight.
  8. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 04:54 PM) Do you realize that Neal Cotts has given up all of his runs this year on the first pitch? What?
  9. If you bring back PK, you almost have to trade Contreras for money purposes. I'd like to see KW concentrate on signing PK, Garland, and AJP to multi-year deals.
  10. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 04:39 PM) and not all those teams know that he is garbage against left handed batters. He was terrific against lefties last season. In the world of relievers, it's common for guys to have statistical anomalies once in a while. Look at Viz this year vs lefties compared to last year. Marte will have a lot of value on the trade block.
  11. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 04:19 PM) Fathom, I would give you a 5 post under/over... And I'd bet the under Have I not been better under the new rules though?
  12. Trading Marte straight up likely won't get you a big impact player. However, adding Marte in a deal with someone like Contreras can definitely help sweeten the deal. There are a ton of teams that are really hurting for a lefty reliever.
  13. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 04:14 PM) By their rules you are a "dark cloud" IMO, it's f***ing stupid to ban anyone for something like that. You can only praise the team and it's sickening. However, they do make the rules and by their rules, you won't be posting again until October. So you're saying it's a good thing I don't post over there?
  14. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 04:11 PM) I get very nervous with Viz and Marte in the bullpen. I would love to package one or both of them to get another hitter. Baj would fit in nicely. Of the three pitchers you mention, Vizcaino has the best chance of being on the club next season.
  15. If we trade a starter, it's much more likely to be Contreras than Duque. Contreras will never have more value than he'll have this offseason, and especially with one year left on his deal, I can see him being used to bring us some offense. I have no clue how possible it is, but a package of Contreras/Marte/Sweeney for someone like Hank Blalock would be perfect. Duque has very little trade value now days.
  16. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 03:12 PM) He immortalized himself as a Sox trivia answer with the 504' blast. And, yeah, you'd think 5.3 million would have got us a little more. At least he's dedicated himself to baseball and made the effort we put into developing him worth it (unlike Henson). Also, is it Borchard's fault that KW refused to trade him?
  17. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 03:08 PM) Watching Chad Hutchison and Drew Henson, and what they've done today, he's probably glad he didn't. I agree with that, especially as I was never very impressed with his QB skills at Stanford. I was just pointing out that to make a reference to him stealing money wasn't necessarily right in this case.
  18. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 03:04 PM) See ya later Joe...we hardly knew ye. When I hear his name, a certain song comes to mind....it goes something like this... "Come on, take the money and run. Oooh, ooh, ooh, Come on, take the money and run." Wow, tough crowd. I give Borchard credit for toughing it out. He could have easily left baseball for the NFL and likely more money.
  19. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 02:59 PM) I'd put my money on them or the Pittsburgh Pirates. They are DESPERATE for a power hitting corner outfielder besides Bay, and would probably take a chance on Borch. And no please don't mention Vinny "I'm not going to say it" Castilla in any possible National deal. I'm not anticipating getting anything for Borchard. He'll become a FA.
  20. Borchard is still a fun player to watch at the plate. You never know when he'll just crush one. He might as well start packing his bags for the Washington Nationals.
  21. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 02:40 PM) Borchard really said nothing wrong. I am actaully rooting for Borch, hopfully he can come out and at least hold his own up here, and increase his value. A package of Marte, Borch and one of the SP's could bring alot back to this club....... How could we trade him though? Would we have to keep him on our 40 man?
  22. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 02:37 PM) According to manager Ozzie Guillen, he and his coaching staff had a three-hour meeting with general manager Ken Williams to discuss the plans for rookie pitcher Brandon McCarthy after the right-hander had his second straight impressive outing Monday at Boston. The plan is to use McCarthy out of the bullpen. "This kid is not Roger Clemens, c'mon," Guillen said. "He's just had a couple of great games when we need it." ... That's fine Ozzie...but Duque isn't the same pitcher he was when he had postseason success. And if Ozzie foolishly has any desire of starting Duque in the postseason, he needs to rest his arm as much as possible right now. I'm not real sure why Ozzie seems intent on getting every last pitch out of Duque's arm in every start.
  23. Here's my lineup prediction: Pods, Ozuna, Rowand, PK, AJP, Dye, Gload, Uribe, Harris
  24. I wouldn't be surprised if PK was trying too hard during the early part of the season for two reasons: 1) free agency = $$$$$ 2) to prove that he could carry this offense without Ordonez, Lee, and Thomas. I don't think we have a clue how much money PK has made himself with this 2nd half, but I would guess he's raised his price by about 2 mil per season. As long as he continues to help the Sox, I say good for him.
  25. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 03:38 AM) If Ozzie puts El Duque in the playoff rotation over Jose I will kick him in the groin
