That should be it for Duque. I don't get the point of letting Duque face someone who took such a great swing against him last time. Where's Cotts??? -

I always get a little annoyed when I see Marte warming up instead of Cotts. Poor Neal! Keep it going Duque. -

Yep, Duque's starting. I don't like the move...but who cares what I say. I just trust Cotts getting thru an inning scoreless more than I do with Duque. -

Duque's starting the 8th, isn't he? I don't like the Duque vs Reed match-up, and Reed's been flirting with a double in his at-bats tonight. -

QUOTE(BFirebird @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 03:58 AM) agreed...with politte and jenks backing him I'd go with Cotts in the 8th...and hopefully Jenks in the 9th. I don't want Hermanson going three straight games. -

QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 03:58 AM) Great job be El Duque so far, ever since he came off the DL hes been nothing but money. Hes been doing better now than he has the whole season. He's thrown the ball much better than his results would dictate....basically the complete opposite to how it was before the injury. -

Haha...wasn't that the typical play where Crede dives in front of Uribe for no reason? -

Yes...that was me saying I didn't think Anderson had a chance against Felix. I've never been so happy to be completely wrong. -

I've been more impressed with Anderson's swings tonight than I have in a long time with our other center fielder. -

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 03:52 AM) I thought it was on a curveball that he hung in the zone, but I'm not 100% sure on that. No, it was a fastball. -

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 03:50 AM) That's the 2nd breakin ball he's hit for a homer tonight. Very, very good signs. I thought first homer was on a low fastball. -

The bench is definitely pumped up. This is a huge inning coming up for Duque. -

QUOTE(That funky motion @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 03:47 AM) He does act like Freddy. That same walk to the dugout, the way he catches the ball and the look on his face. So he's always going to look unhappy? -

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 03:46 AM) You bother playing because you hope it is a night when he throws a few fastballs down the middle and you get lucky and hit a couple of them like BA and Torrealba. Otherwise they have no chance. I agree. All I know is we're going to have to find a way to win a game or two against these types of pitchers that we're not supposed to have a chance against. At least the Indians have to face Santana next weekend. I'm sick of them facing guys with ERAs over 6.50. -

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 03:44 AM) Neither one of those pitches were right down the middle. They were low and away. He could sit there and throw to that corner all night and they have no choice. He has to swing at that curve because it looks like a fastball going to paint the corner again, unless he is just guessing curveball and hoping and thats when you get K'ed looking like AJ. First one was right down the plate. Even DJ said that he had a great pitch to hit. If his stuff is that amazing, why did we even bother playing tonight? Just kidding jphat...he's an excellent looking pitcher. I just hate the approach that since a pitcher is great, we have no chance to win. -

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 03:42 AM) AJ had no chance to hit that last pitch. You ahve to take the chance that maybe it'll get called a ball because swinging at it will do no good. THis guy is incredible. Swinging at it gives you the chance to foul it off. The pitch was clearly a strike, so 95 pct of the time, you're going to get the called 3rd. The AJP AB was not nearly as bad as the PK AB. -

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 03:41 AM) Konerko took 2 fastball strikes, the first one right down broadway, then swings at a hook in the dirt. It was a clueless terrible AB. Bingo -

Very solid start by Duque tonight. It's a shame that Terrible-alba has scored those two runs. 93 pitches for Felix, so a patient inning could make this his last inning. -

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 03:37 AM) Dude. He was throwing 98 on the corners and dropping a sick curve. DO you know how baseball works? Have you played? Do you know how hard it is to hit a 97 mph fastball low and away right on the corner that will be called a strike? It's next to impossible. Dude...I guarantee you I've played as much baseball as just about anyone on here, and faced more 90 mph plus fastballs than anyone. My problem with PK's at bat was this: what was he looking for? I'm not upset that the guys aren't getting hits against him. Rather, just a lot of guys seem like once they get two strikes, they're just waiting to be aced. At least with Johan, we go down swinging.
