  1. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:23 AM) Haven't you heard? Good pitching will always defeat good hitting--except when it applies to games such as tonight. Then the excuses turn to how great of a hitting lineup Boston has. No one can admit they're not concerned how Garland and Buehlre have pitched these last two games. I'm just happy we found a way to win two games in NY where we hit like s***.
  2. QUOTE(quickman @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:22 AM) or if DYE or Everett go down. It could happen easily. We screwed up, we needed to make a better trade. I hate all that bulls*** about chemistry. What crap. Build the team to win the damn world series, and if everyone did there damn job the chemistry would be fine. We had great chemistry in 2000, and we literally fell apart at the end. same will happen this year if we don't get help. The 2 most replaceable guys on our offense are Timo and Ozuna. The problem is, those are two of Ozzie's favorites that can do no wrong. We need to make some upgrades, but it's harder to do when there's no one you feel you can "replace".
  3. QUOTE(GBlum27 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:21 AM) 2 on for the AL's leading RBI man! Isn't it time for Hawk to say the White Sox offense is superior to the Red Sox?
  4. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:19 AM) Okay now I'm really scared for our World Series lives. Two best guys going to the bump and they both lose. Our offense isn't giving us anything tonight. Just horrible. You know my answer to this question by now.
  5. QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:19 AM) Memo to White Sox pitching: Please make these good hitting teams move their feet in the batters box. There is no sin to backing them off the plate. Ortiz goes up there like he's in one of quickman's lounge chairs at the beach. That's exactly why I'm scared of the Red Sox in the playoffs. We've shown no ability to get these hitters off-balanced. The scary thing is that Damon has been pretty non-existent against the Sox.
  6. QUOTE(GBlum27 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:18 AM) Uribe with an E...this is just gonna be an ugly ugly night I wish Ozzie would just pull Garland now and save his arm about 40 pitches.
  7. Our infield defense continues to be absolutely awful. When did it all start to go wrong for them?
  8. Crap. Dye is Dead again. How many guys has he left in scoring position this week?
  9. Rowand's swing is just perfect for the knuckle ball.
  10. QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:12 AM) They still need a pain in the ass hitter, that is not Bellhorn. Or, get someone who is feared, that would be Griffey. I don't see it happening but I hope I'm wrong. The thing I wonder about is if Ozzie and KW have the balls to shake this team up. With Everett swinging well, it might be hard for KW to make a move. However, with Pods struggling with injuries, and Dye showing signs of being in a massive slump like he was to start the season, it wouldn't be a bad thing to add another OF/DH. Timo is not the answer to the back-up position!
  11. Since Thomas got injured, our bench is just awful. We have no power on the bench at all, something that could be important if the Sox make the playoffs.
  12. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:10 AM) I think he's better than Blum. Defensively, Blum is superior.
  13. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:06 AM) Crede IS bad luck vs. Boston. I wouldn't mind sitting him tomorrow, and if we play them in the playoffs for that matter. If Crede is playing vs Clement instead of Blum tomorrow, I'll be very disappointed. One of the reasons I thought we got Blum was for games against tough righties.
  14. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:06 AM) Hawk mentioned earlier that there was talk Boston may release Bellhorn. He can play all the infield positions, and while striking out often he does draw a lot of walks and can hit it over the wall. KW needs to do something. This team is going to have a very difficult time in the playoffs. The first round is either going to be against Boston or a West Coast team in all likelyhood. Strange things have happened against Oakland and Boston this year. And the Sox have had a recent history of struggling in Anaheim. Pass! He's terrible on defense, and his numbers weren't the same after steroid testing. Bellhorn needs to be on a team where they appreciate walks. No chance in hell that happens with the Sox.
  15. Crede sure seems like the rally starter for Boston. Ozzie sure must have a tough time decided who to play at 3b, with both Crede and Blum tearing the cover off of the ball.
  16. QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:02 AM) I hope Contreras pitches well tomarrow cause then this whole series we would have to duke it out withem in a slugfest. We cant win this way against the Red Sox. Isn't Duque going tomorrow? Did I miss something?
  17. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:01 AM) Petagine is no scrub... He's way better than say a Ross Gload. You have to respect a team that calls up a player tearing up the minors to give him a chance to help the MLB club.
  18. QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:01 AM) Where is nitetrain? This has everything to do with the Red Sox having great patient hitters. They haven't missed one mistake yet. Garland hasn't been making horrible pitches, and Buehrle wasn't horrible last nite with a few exceptions but they are getting cuffed around. Oh, and ... this is why you have Adkins, to eat innings if necessary. The way it is going tonite, if he comes in he'll get his ass handed to him as well. This is absolutely why you have Adkins on your team. I do disagree about saying Garland hasn't been making bad pitches. He's looked like s*** tonight, and everything is up in the zone.
  19. Haha, good pitch Garland. Nothing like hitting their worst hitter to load the bases.
  20. QUOTE(GBlum27 @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 11:58 PM) Good job Jon, just like a true ace...get rocked when you don't have your good stuff. Long night folks Become Tampa Bay fans!
  21. Pathetic! 2 out of 3 starts where Garland had nothing on the mound. I'm not worried yet, but he's probably going through a tired period right now.
  22. BTW, if anyone's watching the Indians game, how bad is the rain?
  23. How many two strike hits can we allow this series? I know these pitches have been close, but Garland is just laying it right in for some damn good hitters.
  24. If Manny gets a hit here, Hawk is going to go nuts. It might be high comedy.
  25. QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 11:53 PM) Just awful that Buerhle and Garland pitch bad, back-to-back, against the Red Sox. This Red Sox hitting will do it to you.
