  1. I didn't know we won the first two games, and we're playing our sweep lineup? Looks like it might indeed be the sweep lineup.
  2. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 05:03 PM) Well, we are guarenteed a loss today. Since, El-Duque will give up two runs early and the offense today is going to suck. Look at the s*** line-up: Timo Uribe Everett Konerko Rowand Dye Blum Widger Crede That's f***ing ridiculous. Crede shouldn't be playing against Clement, plain and simple. Also, if you want to play Widger one game, and AJP another game, have Widger face the guy who sucks vs righties, and have AJP play against the guy who dominates righties.
  3. QUOTE('94WorldChamps @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 04:58 PM) Screw Griffey. Just another bopper who will get owned in the playoffs, Eric Chavez-style. His contract and injury history as well as what it'll take to get him don't quite blow my mind, either. We need OBP. Lots of it. Whether Rickey Henderson, Ray Durham, Mother Goose, I don't care. Yeah, since Ray Durham has been so healthy? Also, Mother Goose just hasn't been the same since the steroid testing.
  4. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 04:43 PM) So it looks like we won't get him. At this point, I hope KW is exploring other options than just Griffey Jr. It definitely doesn't seem like Reds ownership is going to change their mind anytime soon.
  5. QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 04:15 PM) I noticed this tidbit in the article: Didn't the Mariners ask for Grady Sizemore in exchange for Guardado? I also think the DRays wanted David Wright for Baez.
  6. QUOTE(wsox08 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 04:15 PM) I would say we need someone but everytime we lose two or three in a row everyone says we need someone... We are just playing flat.. When we win a few in a row everyone is satisfied in the team.... I don't think any of us were satisifed with the offense, even after winning two in NY.
  7. QUOTE(daa84 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) how about anderson in left, ozuna at third leading off? anderson is an upgrade over crede on O, and will be better than anyone else we throw out there on D. give crede some rest, and maybe shift ozuna to SS or 2b here and there to give the others a day off. Ozuna can't play 3b, end of story. There's no need to stress the leadoff position so much. If the guy is a below average hitter like Timo, then we're just putting our 2-3-4 hitters at a disadvantage. Lets just go with our 9 best possible hitters to fill the lineup, and see how that goes.
  8. I find it highly unlikely Young gets called up this season. There's two other outfielders guaranteed in Borchard and Anderson that would get called up over him, and possibly a third in J. Owens.
  9. Good thing the Sox don't have David Wright on their team. KW could have mixed his name up with Danny Wright, and just let a team pick him up without any compensation.
  10. QUOTE('94WorldChamps @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) It's not the same, though. The headcase is guaranteed to fail, while the asshole not only might succeed, but may overachieve. I hate the guy, but Carlos Zambrano begs to differ.
  11. We shouldn't stress the leadoff hitting spot too much. Like everyone says, that leadoff hitter is only guaranteed to lead off once a game (or more if Crede and Uribe are batting in front of them!). There's no problem just moving up Iguchi in the order, and put Rowand in the 2nd spot.
  12. If Pods goes on the DL, that's when KW has to shine. There's not a doubt in my mind that KW knows Timo shouldn't be an everyday player. If we don't feel like there's a player we can call up in the minors to help our team, then he needs to go acquire a hitter.
  13. Well, I just mentioned the possibility of Owens getting called up to someone who has seen him play many games this season, and his response was "might as well call up Willie, because they're the same player". According to this person, Anderson should definitely be called up if Pods goes to the DL.
  14. Timo might be the worst player in MLB history to bat leadoff and 5th in the same week.
  15. Thank you Tampa! Indians lose. Overall, it was a beneficial day for the Sox.
  16. QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 03:08 AM) Hard to do something when on the bench. This is more about filling in, as this stretch of the season is basically garbage time, and I don't want to see Pablo in LF anymore after his weakass effort tonight. What have any of the possible replacements 'done' to deserve a start? He's had more than enough opportunities to earn the right to start. You do realize he's like 4 for his last 30?
  17. QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 03:04 AM) I don't want to rush Owens I'd like Timo to fill in, but it doesn't solve the lead off issue, but it isn't really an issue when you've got nothing to play for until October. This would be a Huge advantage for us to have a rested Pods in the playoffs with fresh legs, of course, all under the assumption that it's not a long DL stint, get him off the DL before Sep 1st, but you might not need to play him until after the 1st week or two of September, and tell him not to go SB crazy Timo hasn't done a single thing to deserve to start for two weeks.
  18. Nothing like facing the Twins and Yankees with Timo or Ozuna in LF.
  19. QUOTE(quickman @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 02:45 AM) t-bay winning 7-1 we are winning the division despite the lousy play. I don't give a s***, as long as we make it.
  20. Surprised we didn't ph for Crede that inning. Blum sure has been a disaster so far.
  21. AJP is stuck on automatic with the grounder to first base.
  22. QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 02:27 AM) We have th cable package, but as long as the Cardinals are on, I can't get the remote from the mother. I was spoiled having the dish at home. At my new place, I missed being able to turn on Indians or Twins games whenever I wanted. I'm very happy with my purchase.
  23. QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 02:26 AM) Isn't it kind of hard to watch a baseball game on your computer? The games are full screen, right? It's actually very good. I highly recommend it to anyone that loves to watch baseball at all times.
  24. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 02:25 AM) Viz should be our secret weapon vs. ManRam and Ortiz in the playoffs Yeah, not like Manny didn't hit one to Australia against him.
  25. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 02:22 AM) 7-1 Mercy. That was a bomb. I decided to cave in and purchase mlbtv.com for a month. It was the first pitch I saw in that game. That's one of the longest homers I've ever seen.
