  1. I don't think we should put Hermanson on the DL until the end of August. Then, we can promote 2 or 3 relievers with the September call-ups. Maybe it's just me, but I don't like the idea of just shutting down players like Pods and Hermanson while the division has still not been clinched. There's no better way to have a prolonged slump than to blow leads late in a game. If you DL Hermanson, you alter the entire bullpen.
  2. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 05:18 AM) Again, it makes too much sense for it not to happen. Therefore it won't happen. The problem right now is that everyone's just repeating the same story from two weeks ago. I watched the CLTV segment, and no one had any new information. Rather, for some reason, everyone thinks just cause Griffey Jr. cleared waivers, it's a given he'll get traded for the Sox. There hasn't been one ounce of information that suggests the Reds want to trade KG Jr.
  3. It seems like the decision to DL Pods has been looming for a while. Why not play Harris in LF in the minors then?
  4. QUOTE(spiderman @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 04:39 AM) I think he'll go platoon because neither is going to hit .400 (or even .250 probably), meaning he'll try to get them favorable matchups. Then you have to play the guy who can play defense better. Sadly, that's Timo in this case.
  5. We're playing the Twins and Yankees, and we're considering putting a well below average player at a position he's never played before? There has got to be a better option!
  6. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 03:48 AM) Bring up Anderson and make this the lineup. Iguchi Rowand Everett Konerko Pierzysnki Dye Crede Anderson Uribe Looks a helluva lot better to me than having a mental midget like Willie Harris in the lineup. I was going to post the same thing. The last thing we need on this team is another just terrible hitter like Willie Harris.
  7. QUOTE(spiderman @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 03:48 AM) Harris may get called up, and will get some starts in LF, but I don't think he'd become a regular out there while Pods' is injured - I think Guillen would basically platoon and work in Timo Perez, Harris, and Pablo out there. That's going to make me sleep better at night :headshake
  8. QUOTE(WhiteSoxAaron! @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 03:41 AM) f*** yes, we can cuss. I love this f***ing place f*** wsi, ok had to say that. hahahahahahahahahaha You could at least say earmuffs!
  9. QUOTE(spiderman @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 03:40 AM) My point being that I'm not sure it was breaking news either time - both stations just like to give the impression that their reporters are getting the story first, even if, like in this case, there really isn't a story. Offman seemed to be the first one who said it. Even Gammons today credited a Chicago radio station as saying that Griffey had cleared waivers.
  10. QUOTE(WhiteSoxAaron! @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 03:38 AM) You can cuss on hear? f*** yes
  11. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 03:36 AM) I believe so Pretty sure that's been confirmed positive.
  12. QUOTE(WhiteSoxAaron! @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 03:35 AM) ok..... I dont care u seem cool to me... Everyone one is much cooler hear than on wsi. Best thing about here compared to WSI: SWEARING!
  13. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 03:32 AM) This is a focking dumb move. Wee Wee Willie cant hit. And dont give us last years stats. Last year means nothing this year. If he batted 400 last year and then 170 this year, he still sucks this year. Wee Willie cant steal either. I understand the entire chemistry thing, but come on. Let Anderson give us a shot in the arm. Lets see what the kid will do. Just when you thought they made enough dumb decisions, Timo at DH, Timo at 1st, Timo leading off. They decide to bring up "Its my time now" FOCKING STUPID I just don't get our mentality right now. Ozzie sure seems concerned about not bringing in any new blood. In reality, I think the thing our team really could use is a boost from someone new.
  14. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 03:33 AM) Guys almost everyone in the media reported that Vizquel was headed to the Sox this november. Bruce was not the only one. I'm not sure why everyone hates him. Find me the last time he was right on any trade? Considering it's his profession, he sure doesn't have a very good grasp of the baseball industry. He should be known as Captain Obvious.
  15. QUOTE(spiderman @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 03:32 AM) Let's just hope that Kenny Williams can find a way to upgrade the team further before August 31st whether it be Griffey Jr. (beware of all the rumors that keep coming up - if something happens, great!, otherwise, carry on, there's nothing to see here) or some other upgrade. Yep, and I really hope KW doesn't think Willie Harris is a logical option to replace Pods in LF!
  16. QUOTE(WhiteSoxAaron! @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 03:31 AM) Fathom you seem cool Wow, you must be a newbie. Complimenting me probably won't get you very well-liked on this board. I'm sorry, I'm on the record as saying I won't be in gamethreads during the playoffs.
  17. QUOTE(WhiteSoxAaron! @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 03:30 AM) but we can still get him right? Yes
  18. QUOTE(WhiteSoxAaron! @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 03:28 AM) when will we find out who will get him who else wants him? and what is the chance of us gettting him? should I get my hopes up? Until you hear something that suggests the Reds want to trade him, carry on with your regular life.
  19. QUOTE(Tadahito Iguchi @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 03:26 AM) I'm not understanding why they didn't put a claim on Griffey. You can't risk the Reds telling you to take him, and getting stuck with his whole contract.
  20. QUOTE(WhiteSoxAaron! @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 03:24 AM) Ya well is there any news on this? I am new hear so tel me how this place is, I hated whitesoxinteractive everyone said you guys are better? anyways is there any news on this trade? In reality, not a damn thing besides Griffey Jr. cleared waivers.
  21. Until I hear anything that suggests the Reds ownership seriously wants to move Griffey Jr., I'm not getting my hopes up regarding this trade.
  22. QUOTE(GBlum27 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 03:18 AM) GRIFFEY CLEARED WAIVERS THANKS BRUCE YOU ARE SO INSIGHTFUL I know some people defend Levine on this site, but he's one of the worst "inside" guys in baseball. I can't remember the last time he was on top of a trade rumor.
  23. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 03:06 AM) Taking Rowand out of a GG position and sticking in a 35 year old injury plagued veteran who's bat would do wonders for our team, is recipe for disaster. Especially when that 35 year old veteran is your best hitter and owed a buttload of money over the next 25 years. Trust me, I agree with you. However, I don't think there's a chance in hell KG Jr. would play LF. Even Ozzie was considering playing Rowand in LF before the season.
  24. QUOTE(bigred3535 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 03:05 AM) I'm surprised this has not been posted: On Sportscenter before the Cards game they said Griffey had passed through waivers and the Sox and Reds were still working on a deal, although Griffey had not been approached about waiving his no-trade clause yet. Was this what Gammons said? If so, it didn't seem like he had any inside information regarding a deal.
