  1. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 01:53 AM) Better now than in the playoffs. You know what I'm going to say. You have to make the playoffs before you can start planning for it. Right now, the Sox just have to win games. Everything else will play out.
  2. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 01:53 AM) If we lose today the only chance we have of taking one this series is tomorrow because I don't expect anything good on Wednesday. I said a lot earlier in the day that this was a very big game tonight, because the one thing we can't have is to get swept by the Twins. Tonight was our best chance to win.
  3. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 01:50 AM) The Fundamentals have been dearly missing from this team lately And you want to know one of the main reasons for that? The more subs you have in the game, the more it seems the team fundamentals decreases.
  4. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 01:51 AM) Yeah, a stupid move but like I said, their getting to Lohse and they better get ahead next time. Lohse won't be out there much longer. We'll get to their very good bullpen sooner than later.
  5. QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 01:50 AM) Yup, ball was hit WAY too hard to send Crede, especially with our #3 and best clutch hitter up next. Ford had plenty of time to set himself and make a relatively easy throw. Dye should have been able to just as easily throw the runner out at home also earlier, but that would require a Sox outfielder to actually throw a runner out at home.
  6. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 01:49 AM) There was 2 outs, he tried, it didn't work. At least their getting to f***ing Lohse. True, but with Everett up next, who has had a lot of success vs Lohse, we risked the chance to get the tying run up to the plate.
  7. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 01:49 AM) Breaks just aren't going our way tonight. How so?
  8. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 01:48 AM) Um, I think if they lose their last 40 games, they won't make the playoffs. Thanks captain obvious
  9. f***ing Cora! Why would you send him there? Ford has a fantastic arm, and that was a shot to the outfield. The chances of Crede scoring there were very below average.
  10. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 01:44 AM) Timo probably thinks there was no outs there I'm still waiting for his ill-advised bunt in a big situation.
  11. Why can't Timo just leave? By far, my most hated Sox player ever.
  12. Good swing by Crede there actually. I'm not going to be a happy camper if Timo hits into a DP here.
  13. Haha, you have got to love Hawk using the best record reasoning as to why the Sox recent struggles don't matter.
  14. We just don't get a lot of hits at home, do we? Every game lately at the Cell, it seems like we're getting between 5 to 7 hits.
  15. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 01:33 AM) That's fine if your a team like the Padres, where you have little chance of doing anything anyway, but not when your a team who's been as good as we have for most of the season. Maybe it's cause I don't think, in reality, that this has to be "the" year. Our talent level, on offense, is still not up to par with Boston and the Yankees. If this team can't go far in the playoffs, no one on here should really say they're surprised. Unless we can have playoff series like the Yankees one we just had, I'm not expecting miracles. Remember, our record against likely playoff teams this year is awful.
  16. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 01:33 AM) Wow fathom, where has this thinking been. I agree 100%, we get there, its a whole new ballgame. Personally, while I don't condone it, I just think this team has put themselves on cruise control. They will get it back by early to mid September. I've been saying this all along. I don't care if we lose our last 40 games, I just want to make the playoffs.
  17. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 01:31 AM) Well Cy Lohse has a 2 hitter going. And it's the worst I've seen Lohse look against the Sox in a long time.
  18. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 01:30 AM) Maybe its time to sit Uribe who hasnt been good. Fock that he starts day in and day out. Gooch who is good, bench his ass every couple of days. We are saving his bat for the postseason. What other major league team would bat Timo leadoff? Name one. We've completely put it in to cruise control. It seems like we're already making decision now in order to set things up for the postseason. We still have 13 games left against this Twins team, and quite a few other games against some very good teams.
  19. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 01:29 AM) If we back into the playoffs, we'll be out by the 1st round......Guaranteed!! It's better than not making it at all. You get to the playoffs, and anything in the world can happen.
  20. What cracks me up is when some posters get mad at guys like me, CyGarland, etc. who follow the scores of the Indians or Twins game.
  21. This is the Joel Pineiro game all over again.
  22. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 01:27 AM) Nothing like backing into the playoffs. Just hoping Cleveland keeps losing. Personally, I don't care what we do, as long as we make it. Not for one second have I thought we were 10 games better than any other team in the majors. It would take a total collapse not to make it, and if we don't make the playoffs, we don't deserve to make it.
  23. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 01:24 AM) :fyou Stewart!! That wasn't a very difficult catch. Even that has-been Griffey Jr. could have caught that.
  24. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 01:23 AM) Gooch is not hurt. Ozzie just is letting yesterdays reserves play today. They got cheated out of their game. Yep, Ozzie is clueless. Nothing like the first game of the Twins series to set the tone.
  25. What a terrible television angle!!! I thought that was gone for sure.
