QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:53 AM) It was after AJ, before Iguchi. KW tried to get some guys at the deadline. He found out nobody is inclined to help the team with the best record unless they want to pay a ridiculous price. You know, I always wondered why whenever a GM doesn't make a trade, they always say it's because other teams were asking for the world. I'm not saying it's not true, but it's a very convenient excuse a lot of the time. I bet everyone thought the asking price for Matt Lawton was supposed to be a lot more than Jody Gerut.

QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:52 AM) How are the Indians doing, did they get rained out? I know that is a big topic around here. still delayed

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:51 AM) I hate to say it, but our 2 best pitchers getting bombed by Boston doesn't exude confidence in me come playoff time. All I'm asking for is the Sox to make the playoffs. You get there, and you never know what can happen. I know 99 pct of this board thinks it's a given we get there. I must be in that one percent that doesn't have the same confidence.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:50 AM) Ozzie fails to remove Garland prior to this inning, so as if one cue, he surrenders another run. I suppose now we'll score 4 runs and fall short the one given up this inning. I dislike Ozzie's managing, everyone knows that. However, am I the only one who is just dumbfounded by his managing the last month or so?

QUOTE(quickman @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:50 AM) Thats it we won't get him. He loves griffey said he was the best player in the nineties. To me this means KW and Ozzie privately said we won't get him so start talking up the team we have. If he thinks Everett or Dye is better than Griffey than he is an idiot. Exactly. I don't know why all the optimism that we'll get Griffey Jr. now. The Reds owner turned down the deal two weeks ago. It's not like much has changed.

Haha, why the hell did Garland start this inning? Even DJ is criticizing Ozzie now. Especially considering our lead in the division, Ozzie really needs to have better decision making on when to pull his starters. What could possibly have been accomplished by letting Garland start that inning?
-
QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:46 AM) You are right, he takes pitches ... the strikes. He swings at all the balls. At least Patterson can be dangerous when he hits the ball good. When Ozuna gets all of it...it's a 4 hopper to the 2nd baseman
-
Good grief, pull Garland. Absolutely no reason to pile up the pitches on him tonight.
-
QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:43 AM) Ozzie can only do with what he has in his stable. In regards to that.. Timo needs to be turned to glue and get a Bat with some pop in there. Ozzie and KW are responsible for what's in our stable right now. Just look at what guys like Francoeur have done for the Braves this year. Why not allow Brian Anderson the chance to contribute to the MLB team. We desperately need some right handed power off of the bench.
-
QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:43 AM) Let me introduce you to Corey Patterson. Can we trade Ozuna for Patterson?
-
Some bullets we're hitting this inning. Bad luck, that's all.
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:41 AM) Hawk is silent again tonight on his "where would he play" BS regarding Griffey. He actually started popping that off in a game Timo was batting fifth as a DH. He's also become very silent with his Crede for Gold Glove campaign.
-
Ok, I'm ready to get bashed for being negative, but am I the only one who feels like we're just trying to survive the rest of the season with our lead? In a way, we're playing not to lose? I just get the sense that Ozzie is praying we can just coast the rest of the way without it becoming a race.
-
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:38 AM) Joe Crede is batting .100 in the month of August. Yes .100. Dye is batting a lovely .211. I think he has gone critical again. Pods is batting .190 As a team we are batting .231 in the month of August. Our OBP is now .298. I wonder why we have been having problems scoring runs. Yet we don't need offensive help according to Hawk! The scary thing about our offensive struggles is that Iguchi and PK, as well as AJP, have been terrific the last month or so.

Am I the only one who thinks the Yankees will win the Wild Card over the Angels?
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:36 AM) Ozzie likes Suchi. Is that Timo's nickname or something?
-
QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:36 AM) The Angels can score runs and have decent pitching.. not to mention a great bullpen. We need to hit or like D.J. says... Bye, bye If we hit like we have the last few weeks, we're not winning a series.
-
Whoever doesn't understand Adkins role on this team doesn't understand baseball.
-
QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:32 AM) So is Blum. Its a no win situation.. rather have Credes glove in there. Yep, 3b is just a massive hole for the Sox.
-
2 for last 29! We haven't exactly been facing Cy Young either during that stretch.
-
I was thinking today at work the following: We've been really struggling at maintaining our early leads lately. Quite a few times, we've jumped ahead to a quick 3 or 4 run lead, only for the opposition to make the game close during the middle innings. I'm not sure what the reason is, but we need to just put the team away when we get off to the fast start.
-
QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:26 AM) Diamond backs I believe. While they had two great starters, I wouldn't say their offense sucked. They did have a guy with almost 60 homers in their lineup that season.
-
Good job keeping this game within reach there by Garland.
-
QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:25 AM) Only 1 top 10 pitching staff (team) has won the World series in last 15 years. Who would that be?

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 12:24 AM) Alright this is getting scary It got scary a long time ago.
