QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 11:59 PM) or leadoff hits........ That's ok. Make them earn it.
-
No leadoff walks!

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 11:53 PM) I'd much rather have him hit a slump in August than in October Of course. I just relate it to what an expert on the A's said before the season. Dye will go through stretches where he's just amazing at the plate, crushing the ball all over the field. However, he'll also have extended stretches of time where he looks like a big stiff at the plate who's never seen live pitching before. Basically, the guy said he's a streaky hitter!
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 11:51 PM) Dye has to adjust to that slow curve, he's having problems staying back on it. He was crushing that slow stuff a month ago. He's getting too far out in front, and even when he makes good contact, he has nothing behind his swing.

QUOTE(rcpweiner @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 11:50 PM) Who the f*** cares about the damn D-Rays / Indians game? (Raises hand) I do. Every game they lose, it lowers our magic number.

QUOTE(Stocking @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 11:49 PM) i believe those 5 runs are all unearned too Doubt it

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 11:48 PM) 5-3 Tampa Bay on a single by (Anything you) Cantu (I Cantu better) Excellent. If Tampa gets 15 runs, that might be enough tonight for them to win.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 11:48 PM) I can immediately think of one at Oakland earlier this year where we actually had a guy out at home but the ump called him safe. Yep, me too. Podsednik made a great throw. Cost us 2 very big runs in that game.
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 11:47 PM) Now 1 out, same situation. Mr. Double Play (Cantu) is facing W'Brook, who throws a ton of grounders. I'll hope for the best in that AB.

Here's a question I was thinking about today: How many times have one of the Sox outfielders thrown someone out at home this year? There's nothing that really comes to mind. Help?
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 11:39 PM) Note to self...whenever those 2 agree on something...immediately disagree. I wouldn't worry about us agreeing too often
-
Wow, that's a great play by Mueller there.
-
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 11:36 PM) WHoops. BTW, we're not meant to agree on things. I think the one time we did all season, was on Tuesday where we wanted Cliff to walk Sheffield to get to ARod. Well, we got Sheffield out, and then ARod hit a bomb off of Cliff in the bottom of the 9th!
-
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 11:36 PM) WHoops. I was going to delete it right away, but figured I might as well leave it up and open myself to even more criticism.
-
Not likely our chances here. Haha, way to go Everett! Keep these 2 out hits going.
-
Time for a big knock by Everett. I think he's 3-20 in his career against Wells.
-
Is Uribe tripling off of Mariano Rivera the single most shocking individual play of this season for the Sox? One of the worst everyday hitters in baseball against the toughest pitcher in baseball.
-
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 11:28 PM) You better get used to it. THey are probably going to win 90-93 games. Hopefully that will be enough to get the wild card. Maybe it's just me, but I'm not rooting for the Indians like a lot of other people on this board. I'd be happy if they lost the rest of their games this season. BTW, I heard that the A's were down 12.5 to the Angels this year, and came back to catch them in 60 games....is that correct?

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 11:27 PM) I think Iguchi will do well today. He seems to do well against guys that don't have a lot of bite. Wells' curve is a big lollipop, but I think Tad can stay with it and go the other way with it. Iguchi looked to be thrown off by the slide-step of Wells. The one pitch Iguchi has trouble consistently putting into play is the high fastball. Wells seemed to have a good gameplan against Iguchi, and then had him off-balanced with 2 strikes.
-
Another s***ty team bending over for the Indians....they're up 3-0 in the first inning, and still are up.
-
Great job getting the Sox right back into the dugout by Buehrle.
-
Nice to see that outside corner get called there.
-
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 11:23 PM) Anyone think that Iguchi should've sat today because of his inability to hit a curve? No
-
This ump seems to have a small zone, which will be interesting tonight because these are two of the best pitchers in baseball at hitting the corners.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 11:20 PM) It was the last couple of days without our ace on the mound. Boston's offense is better, but not THAT much better. Though I would agree that 2 runs won't be enough. Boston handles Burly pretty well. Of course, stranger things have happened than the Red Sox scoring less than 2 runs. However, with the way they've been hitting at home, I don't think it's irrational to say they'll score more than 2 runs.
