I predict Manny is on the Cubs by Sunday afternoon.

Wagner Rumor from Phillies Post Game
QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 02:00 AM) they need starters, bad. McCarthy in Philadelphia would have no chance.

Wagner Rumor from Phillies Post Game
I don't buy this at all. Phillies are in the race for the WC, and they've been telling their fans they won't trade Wagner. I'm calling BS.

Outstanding inning by Duque. Can Ozzie resist the temptation to put him back out there?

QUOTE(Tadahito15 @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 01:55 AM) My heart jumps on every pitch by El Duque. It seems like he has been hanging a lot of pitches since the 5th. Tell me about it. He's no Vizcaino, but he's making the right pitch when he has to.

Who throws harder: Iguchi underhand or Willie overhand? A third option is Jim Parque.

QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 01:50 AM) Dodgers designated RHP Scott Erickson for assignment. And just when he had finally lifted his strikeout total (15) above his number of homers allowed (12). Erickson had a 6.02 ERA in 55 1/3 IP over eight starts and 11 relief appearances. There shouldn't be much demand for his services Tough life he has now, taking his millions and going home to Lisa Guerrero.

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 01:50 AM) Hard to say, but a couple more runs sure couldn't hurt I'd really like to see Ozzie go to our bullpen sooner than later in this game.

Who here thinks 4 will be enough to win this game?

Wagner Rumor from Phillies Post Game
QUOTE(Frank the Tank 35 @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 01:42 AM) What're the chances the Sox could sign him to an extension if we got him? He wants to retire early.

Can our baserunning be any worse lately? No reason for AJP to try and stretch that there.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 01:41 AM) I heard Ford's in one hell of a slump. Doesn't mean he won't still hit 3 infield singles per game against the Sox. Michael Ryan is a good offensive player they could stick in the OF.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 01:40 AM) So, any chance at all that the Twins sell with the Hunter injury? The one position the Twins can manage an injury is their outfield. They'll just put Ford in CF.

Great job by Duque there. I wouldn't be against going to the pen now, but I'm sure he'll be back out there. I'd like to see Cotts get the chance to give us 2 good innings.

Duque's flirting with trouble by throwing all these meatball fastballs to the Orioles. Ozzie might want to get someone up in the pen.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 01:02 AM) Note: Please stop throwing Sosa 90 mph fastballs. Ha, I guess 92 mph fastballs are better

Has anyone else noticed a big lack in focus by Uribe in the field lately? His throws have been awful, and not a lot of velocity on them. Of course, he's better than Ozuna in the field (what a dumb argument that was).

QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 12:53 AM) would be an absolute huge advantage for the rest of the series, absolutely huge. They've had to use a lot of relievers lately, with Ponson getting hurt early and an extra innings game during this week. I'm not so sure I wouldn't be facing Bedard right now instead of their bullpen.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 12:52 AM) Uribe, you suck. Just a terrible AB there. His swing was so long. I can't believe that Hawk was happy with someone fouling off a 3-0 pitch over the 1b dugout. Hopefully, Duque can get us back in the dugout against this tough Orioles top of the order.

Just got home, and this is the first inning I've seen. It's sad to hear that Hunter got injured. At least he's from the hood, so he'll know how to toughen his way out of this tough spot.

Shingo Clears Waivers
Two things about Shingo: - Part of his struggles is control, the other is that hitters know what to expect from him. Last year, hitters were chasing all of his pitches, even if they weren't close to the zone. This year, he's not a novelty. - Japanese pitchers have a history of breaking down fast late in their career. When they're in the early stages of their professional career, they throw an insane amount of pitches. 200 pitches a game is not uncommon for them.

White Sox Trade Thread
QUOTE(whitesoxfan13 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 12:59 AM) Crap, I wonder if this means the deal with us fell through. Am I the only one rooting for the Sox not to acquire AJB? There's not a chance in hell he resigns here, and we'd have to give up some important pieces for him.
