  1. QUOTE(quickman @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 01:38 AM) I agree you need to get the runner in, and that was better than his usual strikeout, but how about gettting a hit. Lets try that next time. we will need 9 runs this game. Wouldnt that go against the rules of Ozzieball? You know, the Ozzieball which prevents you from ever scoring 5 runs in an inning.
  2. QUOTE(quickman @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 01:33 AM) Nice joe real nice. Get a life Actually, in that situation, it was very important for Crede to get that runner home. With the pitcher up next, it would have likely put Pods in a situation where he had to get a 2 out hit. I don't like Crede at all, but at least he got the runner in. Now, if we can just get Garcia to stop throwing 3-1 fastballs to lefties with a righty up next, we'll be fine.
  3. I said it in chat before it happened, so I'll repeat it here: Garcia in Colorado is a recipe for 3 run homers.
  4. Hawk, will you please stop saying that the count got a pitcher when they give up a homer? It sounds ridiculous.
  5. Konerko just owns Kennedy. He's now 8-12 against him this season.
  6. Kennedy typically has control issues, so we need to be more patient with him than we have been . He had 30 walks in 56.2 innings coming into tonight.
  7. Remember, Timo likely has faced B. Kim before. Also, with Kim usually being tougher on righties than lefties....I just think Ozzie will have a hard time benching his boyfriend.
  8. I'd be willing to bet Timo is starting in RF tomorrow night.

The thing is, nearly all of our games are close this year. Thus, Ozzie can't find mop-up innings to give to Shingo.
  10. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 05:25 AM) More like THE (only) HIT (he's gotten all season)! We called it at the time. Timo's hit on Monday = season long pass on the major league roster. The fact we don't have a legit back-up at 1b, the easiest position to play, is pathetic. It played a huge role in the loss on Wednesday, and today's game.
  11. I think it's funny that the Indians beat us with smallball today. A stolen base and a bunt were two "smallball" plays that lead to runs for them. On the other hand, Ozzie played for the homer the entire game. We also have to teach our players to not swing if Pods is trying to steal a base early in the count.
  12. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 03:54 AM) there is no one else to play 1st besides Timo Don't you think that's a problem? That we have a very capable defensive player in the minors who can hit better than half of our offensive roster (Gload), but we keep him in the minors so that Ozzie's boyfriend Timo can stay on the roster? Our last two losses could have been avoided if we had Gload on the roster right now. I don't care if Gload can't throw from the outfield. He needs to be with the major league roster immediately.
  13. How many games do we f*** ourselves over by not having a back-up 1b do we have to have before we call up Gload?
  14. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 12:32 AM) Trust me, you do not have to convince me about Neifi. See my earlier post where I said I would take Neifi over Uribe on our team right now. Uribe is a joke with his pitch selection. I do not even know why major league pitchers bother throwing a strike to him (or Cruddy). Just throw it low and out of the zone, and they will bend over swinging at everything There's no comparision between Neifi and Uribe now. Neifi has made himself into one of the tougher outs in baseball this year. He goes with the pitch in crucial situations, resulting in some very clutch hits for the Cubs.
  15. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 12:31 AM) He has said a 100 times that he hates the Cubs and he started this thread purely to discuss baseball objectively. Good lord, did you miss the part where I said I had only read the last 2 pages?
  16. QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 12:21 AM) You guys are hilarious. I don't know how many times I have to keep saying I'm not a cubs fan. For the record, I just started reading the thread like 2 pages ago. If you're not a Cubs fan, I apologize for making a statement which made it look like that's what I thought.
  17. QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 12:02 AM) I'm still not sure how you guys are totally discounting a team who has suddenly compiled the 4th best record in the NL without their two frontline pitchers and their starting shortstop I hate the Cubs more than anyone, but who the f*** cares about what people on soxtalk think about them? I could care less about their injuries, especially Wood and Noballs Garciaparra. They're better off with Neifi at SS anyways.
  18. QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 11:58 PM) Doesn't change the fact that they took 3/4 from one of the better NL teams on the road, even WITH replacements. If the Sox went 6/7 on any west coast road trip against ANYONE, some of you guys would been printing WS tickets right after the trip. Just like how I'm sure Cubs fans will start printing out their WS tickets also.
  19. QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 11:52 PM) Is this the same Mariotti who said that the Sox weren't beating anyone over .500? What? I was just pointing out that they won a series against the Padres when the Padres were nowhere close to 100 percent. Because the baseball world makes it seem like the Cubs are the only team with any injuries, I find it funny that they've been in a ton of games lately where the starting pitcher they were supposed to face didn't pitch that game, and they faced weaker replacements.
  20. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 11:47 PM) Cubs just won the series 3-1 against the Padres. In case some of you here did not know Yep, and beat the great pitches of Tim Stauffer, D. May, and Woody Williams. Padres are also a team that is battling a lot of health problems with the flu. It was a pathetic hitting performance by the Padres this weekend though.
  21. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 11:18 PM) this was most definitely a team loss. Yep.....but our bullpen is just in shambles right now. Who do we have that we can count on out there? Politte? Ozzie seems hesitant to use him anyways.
  22. QUOTE(hi8is @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 11:15 PM) its ozzies fault, its martes falut, its credes fault, its hermansons fault, its widgers fault, its rowands fault... whhhhaaaaa If you lose a game, is it not the fault of a player or manager?
  23. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 11:11 PM) Thanks a lot Damaso, you cost us this game. At least Marte made Hafner beat him. Hermanson basically handed 2 runs to the Indians.
  24. See what happens when you bunt in a tight game Ozzie? You make the defense make a play. No excuse to not be bunting in the 8th inning earlier.
  25. We need bullpen help fast. Hermanson has now allowed runs in 3 of his last 4 appearances, and doesn't look sharp at all. You can't have a bullpen where only one or two guys are reliable to retire a single batter.
