  1. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 29, 2005 -> 06:27 PM) Rowand got a raw deal on that last pitch, I think that was a BB. ?? Looked to be right down the plate to me. Rowand obviously wasn't looking for the curve.
  2. Back to taking strikes, and swinging at balls.
  3. Park will definitely walk some batters if we stop swinging at every low pitch he throws. His control was what got him in trouble in the first at the Cell a few weeks ago.
  4. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 29, 2005 -> 06:23 PM) DEAD IS ALIVE! Dye has a lot more flexibility in his swing. Earlier this year, he was standing straight up when he would swing, and had no chance at the low, outside pitch.
  5. AJP has gone from red hot to god awful over the course of a week. He's back to swinging at anything within a foot of the plate.
  6. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 29, 2005 -> 06:19 PM) That's a good question, I would have liked to keep him there too. The offense was producing better with Aaron there, I guess he wanted to move Carl back up to the 3 spot though. This isn't directed at you, but that thinking by Ozzie is so stupid. Everett's done nothing to justify being moved up in the order. Everett's been the rally killer for 2 months now.
  7. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 29, 2005 -> 06:18 PM) Garland = groundball master Garland looked very good that inning. He needs to keep getting grounders from this power hitting team. Also, I hope today is the last time this season we see Everett in the 3rd hole.
  8. Any recent updates on if the game will be played or not?
  9. Willie should not be playing SS when either Buehrle or Garland are on the mound. Any offensive advantage he might have over Uribe right now would be diminished by their defensive ability. With those sinker ballers on the mound, we need our best left side of the infield possible.
  10. QUOTE(black jack @ May 28, 2005 -> 09:21 PM) it's not raining anymore and hasn't been for about an hour and half. not sure why they're not playing yet. They just showed footage at the game, and it was coming down quite hard.
  11. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 28, 2005 -> 09:14 PM) Twins leading the Blue Jays 4-1 in the 5th inning. We better win today. Twins are now getting the same type of consistent starting pitching that we've got all year. With their consistent bullpen and their ability to hold leads, they're a better team this year than previous seasons.
  12. I guess I'm the only one hoping for a rain out today. With the way each team is swinging the bats, I wouldn't mind only having a 2-game series with the Rangers.
  13. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 28, 2005 -> 09:08 PM) On the other hand...is anyone else thinking about a double-header with Garland and Buehrle as our pitchers, and imagining us giving up like 2 hits in 18 innings? With the Rangers offense, I'm more worried that our hitting would get like 2 hits in 18 innings!
  14. We're going with our usual lineup today. No benchers are playing. Should be good enough for a solid one or two runs.
  15. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 28, 2005 -> 06:34 PM) Even if you take Sweeney's huge contract out of the equation, he can only play 1st base and he's horrible there. We have Konerko and Frank coming back to play 1B and DH. Where in the hell would Sweeney play? Not gonna happen. Sweeney has a no-trade clause in his contract. I can't see him agreeing to go play for another team in KC's division. The Dodgers and Angels have long been rumored as the most likely place that he would get traded to.
  16. There's not a chance that we're going to trade for someone with a big contract. No matter what KW says to the media, I'm fairly confident that our budget is pretty much stretched out right now.
  17. QUOTE(Tannerfan @ May 28, 2005 -> 06:08 PM) Having said that; the worse thing a team can do is panic. Look at the Yankees. They have a horrible start, Steinbrenner goes crazy, but Torre remains calm. They made a couple of minor changes (Womack to left, Matsui to center, and put a rookie Cano at 2nd base.) But for the most part they held tight got through the bad start and are now tearing up the league. Are we as good as them? No. But this is our time to hold on and hope that things will turn around. Making panic moves will not improve things. We need to work Frank into the lineup as soon as possible, and hope for the best. Personally, I thought it was the changes the Yankees made that helped spark their run.
  18. Preston Wilson strikes out a ton, is often injured, and makes a fortune. He might be one of the worst players we could possibly trade for. Only maybe Mike Piazza would be a worse possibility for our team.
  19. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ May 28, 2005 -> 03:29 AM) we need a guy who gets walks, reaches base, aka frank thomas, and thats it, if dye isnt hitting lately or everett then we trade them for preston wilson who is well rounded and can play all outfield and fits into our small ball system, and its just as easy to hit in the cell just as it is with coors Preston Wilson fits the smallball style? Wow
  20. no matter what happens this AB, just remember: OMIT TIMO!
  21. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 28, 2005 -> 02:24 AM) My point is you've got so down on this team when they lose 2 or 3 in a row, they're in a stretch where they're playing very good teams while in a hitting slump and still a bit over .500 during this stretch. We don't have to blow this team up after every mini losing streak. Like I said I bet Jon and Mark win these next two then all will be right with the world. Even if we won the next two games, by a score of 3-1 and 2-0....I'd still say we have serious issues with this team.
  22. We're the Dodgers of a few years ago. The problem with that is we play in a hitter's park. Once it gets warm out, it's going to be tough to continue to beat teams 3-2 at the Cell.
  23. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 28, 2005 -> 02:17 AM) Ahh, a few weeks ago you were asking us if we really though this team was a superior team cause they lost 3 in a row, then they started winning again. Last week same crap, sox start winning again. So of course a 2 game winning streak brings out the same junk, they've been the best team in baseball since mid april and they still are, hitting slump or not. I said I didn't think we were a superior team, and the main reason I said that was because I didn't think we would consistently be able to win 3-2 games, etc. over the course of the season. Hell, I even said I didn't think we were a superior team when some of our guys were still hitting. Our recent pathetic hitting performances have done nothing to make me think otherwise. Until we stop have 3 or 4 easy out batters in our lineup, we're not going to be a good offensive teams. It's sad to think of the days when Royce Clayton and his .250 avg was considered mediocre.
  24. QUOTE(Brian @ May 28, 2005 -> 02:14 AM) Carl's swing looks awful. Big long hacks and his head just goes flying. A MLB hitter should never, ever miss as many fastball as Everett has lately.
