  1. With all our infielders/2b, I really hope they see Acuna as a cf first. Maybe in winter ball he only starts playing there instead of alternating.
  2. If no money was ever going to be included, you can probably scratch the Reds and Pirates from that list. I actually agree that the two players we got and paying no money is better than declining the option and paying 2 million. I just wish we had included money and gotten something better. I really hope we don't sign over the hill guys and then block our younger and out of option players from playing time and decent evaluations.
  3. There are now about a half a dozen players who are out of options. Would they keep Acuna and cut/waive someone else to try and justify the trade? At some point in the future we might have that to look at as well though fringe guys are fringe for a reason.
  4. With luxury tax, Robert costs Mets 46 million for ONE year. Wish we could take fliers like that ! Also why we got little in return. Guess better than paying 2 million and a release but not by much.
  5. A hero of my childhood. RIP
  6. If I remember correctly, FanGraphs subtracts risk from their ratings. So a High school pitcher is almost automatically high or very high risk so if a 60FV max they subtract 10-15 due to the risk. So Schultz and Smith probably had their risk go up after tough years and get dinged relative to guys who performed well.
  7. Could you get Ewing from the Mets with an eye more to 27-28?
  8. Free agent after two years. Does that mean they agreed to no qualifying offer? Wish they could have had a option year or two though don't know how that figures into posting fee or 15% if exercised?
  9. We have the second priority in waiver claims so hopefully we didn't give up much more than a bag of balls.
  10. Welcome back! I smiled too.
  11. Some of you with more knowledge of the exact rules may be able to help me here. I have been digging on the rules applying to returning players who were rule 5 selections. First they go through waivers- any other team can claim and rule 5 stipulations remain. 2) no waiver claim, offered back to original team for 50k. 3) Here is where I am not positive, If the original team takes them back........I think they go on the 40 man roster. Anyone know for sure? I do understand if the original team doesn't take them back, they can be put in drafting team's minor league system. Not sure if the original team can take them back, DFA them (all teams already passed for MLB roster but could claim to 40 man roster and assign to minors) if original team wants to keep them but remove from 40 man. If the draftee looks decent, I could see original team taking them back and keeping on 40. If they have not performed well (ex pitcher with only A ball experience ) maybe the original team doesn't want to put on 40 so refuses the return/works trade etc and they remain with drafting club.
  12. Perhaps of note, in the minor league phase of the rule 5 draft, no players from the White Sox were chosen. This may be a sign of how the rest of the league values the depth of our system.
  13. And that was at A/A
  14. And that was at A/A+
  15. I just read that Fairbanks is one of the player representatives for the upcoming labor talks. JR is on the owners negotiating group. Would that be enough to kill any chance of him joining the White Sox?
  16. Taylor was out in 2023 recovering from TJ. 2024 he pitched 19 innings. 2025 he combined for 63.3 innings. How many innings would he advance to in 2025? If you say 100-120 and he averages 5 innings he makes 20-24 starts so he would be shut down late July or Aug? Of his 36 MLB appearances, only 5 were consecutive games. (On a positive note, he gave up no runs on the second night.) If you manage his appearances, I think you could get him to 100 innings unless he is proving to valuable as late inning guy in which case that is a good result as well. Is there a disconnect between his desire to start and the team thinking he will breakdown if his appearances are longer? I don't know.
  17. I count roster at 34 before Kay so 35. Take two players in rule 5?
  18. Good call on Garcia. Now a Pirate.
  19. What is Querro's value? A recent top 100 prospect who generated 1.2 bwar when called up. 22yo switch-hitter at premium position. Yeah he is slow, so are almost all catchers. The fact he didn't bomb when called up I would think adds to his value so I would be holding out for a similar young player with some success in the outfield or if getting prospects a top 100 plus more?
  20. Had to go D. 100 losses would normally be a F but they did improve.
  21. Will be the highlight of some careers.
  22. I am not watching the game. How bad does rain/field look? Radar looks ok
  23. Double play gets Barons out of the eight. 3 outs to go. Nishida is one of several guys with no power who get on base at a high rate .400. I think there is room for one guy like that but move them up and see what happens. He is also pure hustle/gamer/every cliche you can come up with.
