  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 04:36 PM) Beckham, Floyd, Pierre, Omar is a pretty easy four-some to retire on paper. Hope Juan can stay hot and Omar continue to hit as well as he has of late. Omar is hitting .297/.372/.432/.805 in 45 June PA and Pierre is at .273/.365/.309/.674 in 66 PA. Real hard to complain about those numbers.
  2. Viciedo will start at 3B on Saturday according to Gonzales.
  3. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 01:14 PM) He's not a very good fielder (unless there are defensive metrics that prove me wrong) and has an OPS barely above .700 and an OBP barely above .300. So yes, it does matter he sucks. Try the polar opposite.

Jonah Hex is getting awful reviews. Hardly surprising, it looked terrible based on the trailers.
  6. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jun 17, 2010 -> 10:21 PM) That makes it even more impressive.....the Pirates were due for a win and we prevented it from happening. Why can't people be happy that we are finally a playoff contending team? We were 6 games out on May 26th.
  7. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 17, 2010 -> 09:19 PM) Aren't the Sox rushing him? He's had an awful ST/April, decent May and hot June. He hit .304/.355/.588/.943 w/ 7 HR in 102 May ABs, that's a little better than "decent".
  8. Well our other DH options are pretty awful.
  9. Nix DFA'd. I assume he'll be placed on waivers, if he clears waivers he'll have the choice to either go to the minors or seek employment elsewhere via free agency.
  10. Flowers 0-4 but . . . 0 K's!
  11. These Braves are looking pretty f***ing good.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 17, 2010 -> 08:45 PM) Only run was a HR to Jeff Baker, I believe Yep and unfortunately for Rhodes it cost them the game. He's also stranded 18 of 20 inherited runners, neither of the 2 he allowed really cost the Reds.
  13. Wow, not a good AB for Church. Good work big man.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 17, 2010 -> 08:38 PM) Has anyone checked out Arthur Rhodes' stats this season? I remember him starting in the majors while I was playing Little League. His ERA+ is 1327
  15. Juan is just awesome in the field. Hate him at the plate, love him in the field.
  16. Bobby's stuff has been so much sharper in the month of June. He looks great out there.
  17. Speaking of RISP splits . . . Alex Rios had really been struggling with runners in scoring position this season but has turned it on of late (these things tend to even out) and when I checked his numbers today I was surprised to see just how affective he's been given his early struggles: RISP: .302/.397/.491/.887 63 PA 2 out, RISP: .400/.464/.680/1.144 28 PA Men on: .294/.384/.553/.937 99 PA Close&Late: .333/.405/.606/1.011 37 PA
  18. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 17, 2010 -> 04:38 PM) I hope we're calling up Hudson with the intention of pitching him out of the rotation. It would make sense if he's just Peavy insurance. I don't think he gets officially added to the 25 man roster unless Peavy is unable to go on Saturday. If Peavy gets the all clear then Hudson heads back to Charlotte like nothing ever happened.
  19. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 17, 2010 -> 02:42 PM) If Peavy wasn't going on DL why would they call him up today and loser a roster spot ? Unless a reliever is going down but I doubt this is the case. You can have him travel with the big club for a day until we know for sure if Peavy will be able to go this weekend. If Peavy clears all his tests/drills today and is a go for Fri/Sat then Hudson goes back to Charlotte and no official move is ever made. If Peavy can't go then you place him on the DL retroactive to the 12th, send down Lillibridge or cut ties with Williams (most likely scenario if Peavy isn't DL'd) and give Hudson a start in Washington.
  20. QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Jun 17, 2010 -> 12:57 PM) So how do we keep Detroit and Minny from playing the NL teams? It's pretty silly that this run is changing KW's strategy, as they haven't made up significant ground. We've made up 1 game in the standings since June 1st. We were a game and a half closer to first on May 26th than we are today.
  21. QUOTE (G&T @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 07:13 PM) Yankees have 5 (right?), Giants have 1, Mets have 1...who else in the last 25 years? The Giants have 3 and the Rangers have 1.
  22. Peavy's MRI came back clean and the ailment is now being described as an "achy shoulder". His next start -- which was supposed to be tomorrow -- WILL be pushed back to either Friday or Saturday in Washington.
  23. The Pirates are just bumbling idiots on defense.
