  1. Cowley: Dayan Viciedo's first major-league at-bat? Ripped a hard single to left.
  2. I really wouldn't care if any AL Central team won the World Series. I was cheering for Cleveland in '07, if the Sox aren't good enough to make the playoffs I'm not going cheer against the Twins, Tigers or Indians even if they are the main competition during the regular season. Am I suppose to despise them? Because I don't. Sure I don't want any of them to win the division but once they do I'm not going to prey they get pummeled by the Red Sox or Yankees, two teams that are FAR more unlikeable.
  3. He signed a 3 year deal in 2006 that runs through the 2009 season.
  4. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Feb 25, 2009 -> 04:39 PM) Barring Richard that was a complete and utter crapfest Thronton threw well, apparently.
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 25, 2009 -> 03:50 PM) So, I can only see the box score. How the hell did Wassermann put up a line of 1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K ??? Tyle Flowers is struggling behind the plate.
  6. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Feb 25, 2009 -> 03:38 PM) Who? And who is Kruger? They're non-roster invitees. Torres is a 26 year old speedy middle infielder who spent time in the Baltimore organization the last 2 years and 5 years with the Indians before that. He's just minor league fodder. Josh Kroeger is former 4th round pick of the Diamondbacks, he was their #7 prospect in 2005. He's still only 26 years old and has put up some very impressive numbers at AAA in year's past, I know there's some people on here who really like him, he definitely has some nice tools. He'll play at Charlotte this season.
  7. QUOTE (daa84 @ Feb 25, 2009 -> 03:30 PM) Kruger in Left, Restovich at Right, and someone i didnt catch, but didnt recognize is in at SS Wasserman on the bump Eider Torres
  8. A thirdbaseman with a little speed? Who knew that was even possible?
  9. QUOTE (shipps @ Feb 25, 2009 -> 02:48 PM) For those listening today....What are the chances I will be turning the sound down to listen to the radio broadcast this year? Well we've been lied to maybe 8 times thus far so if that sort of thing bothers you then you're probably better off sitting in silence. Other than the misinformation I'd say DJ and Farmer sound very comfortable together but Hawk and Stoney could be epic.
  10. I wonder if DJ believes everyone on the Sox had a great year defensively last season? They were easily one of the worst defensive teams in the game.
  11. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Feb 25, 2009 -> 02:42 PM) Just noticed Lexi had a SB earlier which is nice to see. He only had 13 last year but for someone with his speed who we're expecting to get on a bunch, I'd really like to see him around the 20-25 range this season Only if he improves upon that SB%. If he's going swipe 25 and get caught 16 times I'd rather he just didn't steal bases at all. His 13/22 last season
  12. The Indians/Giants game is currently being broadcast on the MLB Network if anyone wants to watch some baseball. Juan just grounded out to second.
  13. Will Jerry Owens hit a ball to within 10 feet of the warning track this season?
  14. So is Josh going to be super speedy this year after his offseason knee surgery?
  15. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 24, 2009 -> 05:45 PM) It's great that both Andy and the band are going to the new show. I always found Andy hilarious, even in his solo work (I'm one of the few). The band is great, and they'd be really missed if they didn't go to the new show. And it's a shame that Joel isn't going to LA. Conan said on his final show that he won't be changing to appease the earlier crowds, so let's hope he keeps that promise. Also, it was weird that they kept referring to them as Mr. Richter and Mr. O'Brien. Andy Richter Controls the Universe . . . Awesome. Especially the episode with Conan. Andy Barker P.I. . . . Wretched.
  16. QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Feb 24, 2009 -> 04:50 PM) So no more Joel?? He will definitely be missed. They showed a montage of his finest moments on Tuesday, you forget just how hilarious that guy is. You know you've got something special when just opening your mouth is hysterical.
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 24, 2009 -> 04:49 PM) "The Final Countdown" - Europe I would also use a Segway to get to the batter's box. You better have a knife in your mouth.
  18. Did anyone see the video of Colon performing drills on Comcast? I was shocked by the sight of him because he didn't look too bad. He just kinda looked like a fat guy, not rotund, not anywhere near as out of shape as Sabathia, just fat. It almost looked like he's slimmed down from year's past or maybe I'm just seeing things, though my thoughts were confirmed by a few others in the room. There have been no pictures of him yet aside from the mugshot that was released which could have just been a bad picture.
  19. QUOTE (MO2005 @ Feb 24, 2009 -> 03:08 PM) Great Move for the Twins. Not so great move for the Sox. I mean if he stays healthy, which I doubt, but if so I am going to dread the late inning situations against him. When healthy he is a potential gold glover/all star. Patient hitter at the plate and doesn't strike out much. We have a guy in Fields who strikes out a ton and plays ok defensively. Twins upgrade..sox downgrade..this offseason sucks! He's below average. Sure he doesn't strike out 100 times a season but he still K's 2.5 times more often than he walks and sees a below average number of pitches per plate appearance. How much more valuable is an infield popout compared to a strikeout? And I still don't see how the Sox are downgrading when they haven't had a regular 3B since 2006. Here I go again going after Joe, the season really needs to start so we can get some real baseball talk going.
  20. Well Conan did announce on his show that Max and the band will come with him to California, I suppose things could change but as of now there's no reason to believe Max won't be on the Tonight Show.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 24, 2009 -> 02:17 PM) If the White Sox eat nothing, unless its a team based in NY, I don't see Dye getting traded unless its the September 1 deadline. If the Sox get a decent offer from say the Reds I'm sure they'd be willing to eat $2M+ to make him more palatable. There's really no reason not to especially if you're receiving league minimum players in return.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 24, 2009 -> 02:09 PM) It would be $5 million + $1 million buyout. Considering Abreu could only get $5 million for a full season, I really doubt teams would be willing to pay Dye that for half a season or less, unless its the Yankees. Even Boston is cutting back. I read John Henry has lost $60 % of his net worth the past several months. It would be $4M + $1M buyout. Hence the $5M
  23. Jermaine Dye will only cost a team ~$5M at the deadline, if the Sox are out of it, Dye is having a good year and there's a team out there in need of a right handed power bat (preferably as a DH) I'm sure they'd be willing to take a flier on Jermaine.
