  1. Carlos Quentin is now hitting .500/.667/1.500/2.167 with the bases loaded this season.
  2. The Sox are hitting .303/.336/.616/.952 w/ 8 HR with the bases loaded this season.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 07:58 PM) Has anyone figured out yet why Alexei is still hitting so low in our batting order? Speed/competence at the bottom of the order as opposed to a black hole 6-9?
  4. Nick Swisher strikes out on more pitches off the plate than any player I've ever seen. It seems like half his K's this year have been on pitches 2-5 inches off the corner.
  5. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 07:54 PM) Why the heck did they trade for him then? They bought into the hype?
  6. Great play right there by OC, he had not time to f*** around.
  7. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 07:50 PM) For all the Konerko apologists could you imagine if Manny or A-rod were putting up Konerko numbers this year? They would be roasted. A-Rod would be killed on his way out to third.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 07:46 PM) Just pull him from this game, as it's obvious he's not feeling good at the plate. Just terrible managing by Ozzie in putting PK right after Thome. He's made a hot Jim Thome effectively useless at the plate.
  9. So does Konerko making contact in back to back ABs buy him another game at 1B?
  10. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...rtnerId=rss_hou What in the f*** is Ed Wade doing?

  12. Just saw on ESPNEWS that Buster Olney is reporting that the Sawx and Marlins are in serious discussions about a Manny Ramirez deal.

  14. According to Cowley Oz has made his decision and he's sticking with Konerko in the lineup. He doesn't say for how long.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 03:37 PM) His ERA isn't bad, but he's sporting a 1.35 WHIP this season, so you have to wonder if he's been being bailed out by a couple other people in that pen. He's also inherited 5 runners this year and allowed 3 of them to score. Looks like he's been used mostly in low leverage, blowout situations and that's where he's allowing all his baserunners. He's been quite good in the high leverage situations he has pitched in even if they only make up 30% of his appearances.
  16. QUOTE (Balance @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 03:34 PM) There is only one Pudge, and it ain't Rodriguez. (In my humble opinion) Fred Haney? He was the first to hold the nickname.

  18. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 02:43 PM) I would love Roberts-Sherrill, but I don't like it. Sherrill is kind of icky. I don't think people realize he's 31 years old. He's also overvalued by the Orioles since he's been used primarily as a closer this year.
  19. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 02:02 PM) He can't pinch hit? Not sure I understand that. Well, I guess if he can't hit, then he can't pinch hit.
  20. QUOTE (beck72 @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 01:54 PM) Paulie is going to get every chance in the world to snap out of his funk. The sox probably can't make the playoffs w/o Paulie carrying his weight offensively [as guys like Dye, AJ, Quentin, and Alexei will probably see their numbers drop]. Unless these guys keep up their hitting, and Joe, Swisher, and Thome get hot, the sox will need PK's bat. They certainly need a less intense PK, w/o all the bat throwing, and yelling at himself. I don't think PK will sit for long if at all. I could see him getting an extra day off at least 1, 2 times a week though, if he's still struggling. Seriously? Thome has been right up there with CQ and JD for the past 2 months.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 12:31 AM) OZ is of the opinion Swish's offensive production hasn't been much better than Paulie's ... walks be damned. At least comment on Ozzie's comments. I think they make perfect sense. 1.) At least Swisher is capable of playing a competent 1B, unlike Konerko who has seemingly forgotten how to play the position. 2.) Though you're actually replacing Konerko in the lineup with Anderson/Wise -- making the Swisher/Konerko comparison kind of silly -- Swisher has about a 100 point lead in OPS over Konerko this season. That's fairly substantial. You can't just look at AVG, otherwise by your logic Nick Swisher (.228) has been just about as valuable as Adam Dunn (.238) this season and that's not the case at all. 3.) Swisher can run a little, he's not fast or anything but he can move when he has to unlike Konerko. 4.) You'd be replacing Konerko with the likes of Anderson/Wise which in 189 ABs this season the 2 have produced a .249/.278/.444/.722 like w/ 5 SB and VASTLY improved defense in CF.
  22. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 29, 2008 -> 05:32 PM) I'm 99.9% sure Anderson has an option as well, but there is no way the Angels will exercise that thing. $14M, yeah not a chance.
  23. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 29, 2008 -> 04:14 PM) Oh, I guess I misunderstood this... Well when you're displacing Youkilis for Paul Konerko it's one thing but when it's Teixeira it's another. I don't totally understand their apparent desire to acquire Teixeira but when you're acquiring a player as talented as him it can't really be a bad thing I guess. When you're trying to replace the production of Manny Ramirez, moving Youkilis to LF for Paul Konerko is not a viable option in my mind, Mark Teixeira is a pretty good alternative however.
