WOOT! THREE WAY TIE FOR LAST PLACE IN MLB!
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 12, 2007 -> 09:39 PM) If we don't establish it and drill it into people's heads, they're going to ask why we don't draft someone like Felix Hernandez. I still see the occasional "let's trade the top pick instead" post. Ok, that's fair. So for those who don't know you CAN NOT trade draft picks and you CAN NOT draft non-residents of the USA/Canadia/US Territories. High School players have to graduate and not attend any classes at college in order to be eligible, students at 4 year colleges must be either seniors or graduates or over the age of 20 and you can draft any Junior College player you like, doesn't matter if they're a freshman or Junior they're eligible.

WOOT! THREE WAY TIE FOR LAST PLACE IN MLB!
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 12, 2007 -> 07:25 PM) Really? The White Sox can take players who do not live in Canada, The United States, or other US territories? You're seriously going to play that game with me? Quite frankly I am offended. If you have the #1 pick you can take the guy who was chosen second in any of those drafts. That's the cool thing about having the top choice come June, you can take ANYONE* you want. * "Anyone" of course refers to residents of Canada, The United States or any territories of the USA (ex: Puerto Rico) who meet the basic requirements of eligibility for the June Amateur Draft. Those who are not eligible for the June Amateur Draft DO NOT fall into the category of "anyone." So 16 year old kids playing stick ball with milk cartons and rocks who are residents of the Dominican Republic do not count as "anyone."

I'm giving KW one more year..
It's funny because it seems JR is giving him until 2012.

King of Kong is one of the better documentaries I have ever seen. It's a movie about some of the biggest nerds on the face of the planet yet it keeps you entertained the whole way through.

SS preference for 2008
Just for the record, I never said I'd take Podsednik over a Pierre just that I believe Podsednik is more talented. If you could guarantee me that Pods could stay healthy for the entire 2008 season (which you of course, can not do) I'd take him over Pierre. Keeping in mind cost, of course.

Florida won which means Washington lost.

New England Patriots...cheaters?
The standard punishment for this sort of thing is the loss of multiple draft picks. I don't see why they shouldn't have their 2008 1st round pick taken away to start.

Good day so far with the Pirates winning and KC up by 6 in the 7th inning. The Nats and Fish are tied at 4 in the bottom of the 8th.

2007 Post ASB White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 12, 2007 -> 01:06 PM) Gametime and no game thread? I'm not allowed to start it, since I started one yesterday and they lost. Those rules are pretty much null and void now that the season is pretty much over. At this point, anyone can make a game thread whenever they want.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Sep 12, 2007 -> 11:44 AM) LOL! Sorry to steal your thunder Rock What did I say!? QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 06:59 PM) This is a good way to take a little heat off of Ozzie in the respect that they(the media) wont be coming down on him about being on the hot seat and losing his job.

SS preference for 2008
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 12, 2007 -> 11:57 AM) Two years beyond Contreras, I thought. I'm 90% sure Pierre signed a five year deal. You are correct and I'd never make that deal. And at least Podsednik has a little pop in his bat, usually has a higher OBP than Pierre and has a stronger arm.

WOOT! THREE WAY TIE FOR LAST PLACE IN MLB!
No, he's not. No matter how terrible people seem to think the front office is, they're not going to take a late 1st/early second round talent with the #1 overall pick anyone who thinks otherwise is just pathetically pessimistic.

SS preference for 2008
I'd probably take Jerry Owens over Juan Pierre considering how much is left on that HUGE deal he just signed and the fact that it would take some sort of talent to acquire him. f*** that, Pierre's a mediocre ballplayer with a f***ing 33 ISOd which is quite possibly the worst of any leadoff hitter in baseball.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Sep 12, 2007 -> 10:10 AM) I think this is too be expected from a 21 year old who's not a power pitcher. He's worked harder this season than anyone in his entire life if i had to venture a guess. He just needs a break. He's 22 and has been since April.

The 2 best offensive 3B in baseball today are former #1 picks. It isn't even about how often the #1 pick bombs my main point is the flexibility you gain with the top pick. You see when you have the 1st pick you can take ANYONE you choose, the ability to take whoever the hell you want is just incredibly valuable in my mind.

Cleveland Indians @ Chicago White Sox - Game Thread
QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 10:40 PM) Logan has not been great every outing this season. He's been horrid at times. Just like 99.9% of the relievers in baseball. Luckily he's been pretty damn good in the outings in which he's faced good lefty hitters, sort of like the Phillies game where he K'd Victorino, Utley and Howard in the bottom of the 8th. That was rather impressive.

WOOT! THREE WAY TIE FOR LAST PLACE IN MLB!
QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 10:42 PM) You guys want to lose every night to get a shot at those names? I'll be breathless counting the days til the draft. Give me free agents and Japanese players any day over no names in the draft that likely will not pan out judging the Sox history of draft picks. Unlike Jason Schmidt, Juan Pierre, 90% of the other "big name" free agents from last season, Kaz Matsui, Kei Igawa and Hideki Irabu, right?

Ozzie Extension
QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 10:29 PM) Uh, he won a World Series two years ago in a city that simply DOES NOT win World Series. He deserved the extension. How soon we forget. KW should also be given an extension.

Andy Gonzalez' SLG% is .272 his ISOp is 74. Jerry Owens' SLG% is .293 his ISOp is 47. It's REALLY hard to put up numbers like these.

Cleveland Indians @ Chicago White Sox - Game Thread
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 10:04 PM) Mike Myers must pitch an inning a game as well. Darin Erstad must start at least 5 times a week and 90% of his GP must be starts as well. Also, Luis Terrero must be buried on the bench while Scott Podsednik gives Josh Fields 2 days off a week.

Hopefully Andy will start the 2008 season with the South Georgia Peanuts where he belongs.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 11, 2007 -> 09:48 PM) I imagine Vance is tired of posting this. The same arguments are being made like 3-4 times a day now. I'm not sure how many more times I can handle reading the names Bullington and Bush.
