  1. That same year in 1970 the Sox actually beat Boston 22-13.
  2. September 5th, 2005. Sox win 12-3 Vs Tigers. Sox had 9 X-base hits in that game.
  3. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 04:34 PM) 42-35. We're gaining on them. 42-36
  4. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 04:31 PM) 42 to 31 42 to 32
  5. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 04:30 PM) If you add up the R/H/E for each team it's 42 to 30. That has to be one of the highest you're ever going to see. 42 to 31

  7. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 04:22 PM) Of the 16 half innings in this game so far, there has been at least 1 run in 13 of them. We've scored 6 of 8 innings, they have 7 of 8. And I wonder the last time we scored 11 and still lost by 9 or more. August 30th, 1970. Lost 21-11.
  8. QUOTE(chiguy79 @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 04:15 PM) Kenny can point to this game as to why he doesn't offer Garland a full NTC next year. Then couldn't Kenny just point to that Cubs game from last year as to why he refuses to give Buehrle NTC?
  9. HEY! I found it. August 30th, 1970. Jerry Janeski was your starting pitcher in a 21-11 Sox loser to Boston. It took place at Old Comisky. Hawk's idol Carl Yastrzemski went 1-5 w/ a 3 run HR.
  10. I've gone back as far as 1978 and I still haven't found a time where the Sox have allowed 21+ runs in a single game.
  11. Has Josh had a homerun yet that hasn't been a high fly ball that drifts out?
  12. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 03:36 PM) I'm hoping they get to 20 so that i'll be right, and might as well go for the gusto if your going to embarass yourself. When's the last time we gave up 20 in a game (or even 17?) Well, last year there was that 15-11 debacle at Wrigley. 17 runs? June 19th 2004. Arnie Munoz gets his ass handed to him in Montreal, Sox lose 17-14. 18 runs? May 16th 2003. Buehrle gives up 10 runs in 3.1 IP in Minnesota. Sox lose 18-3. 19 runs? May 10th 2002. Dan Wright, Matt Ginter and Mike Porzio allow a combined 19 runs in Anaheim while Scott Scho and Matt Wise blank the Sox. 20 runs? April 2nd 1998. Sirotka, Carlos Castillo, Todd Rizzo and Tom Fordham get dismantled at Texas in only the second game of the year. Rizzo allowed 6 ER in 0 IP.
  13. Well, at least this game should dissolve any illusions of this team being competitive this season. Not that there were any to begin with.
  14. QUOTE(diegotony06 @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 03:29 PM) And this from Jayson Stark ESPN Insider Jul 6 - According to ESPN.com's Jayson Stark, the White Sox are reportedly marketing Buehrle aggressively, but teams are balking at the price -- three players with two being prime-time prospects. Stark is also hearing that Boston might be getting back in on Buehrle and trying to expand the deal to include Julio Lugo. Um, no. f*** that. If they want to toss in an extra A prospect in exchange for the Sox taking that contract off their hands then maybe but I don't want Lugo as a major part of any deal.
  15. Isn't the Japanese "Gold Glove" the equivalent of the American "Silver Slugger"?
  16. Outstanding news. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/artic...sp&c_id=cws
  17. Pretty cool. I was rather disappointed that I wasn't mentioned but I've always thought of myself as being underrated anyway.
  18. Does anyone really think Jon Garland (27 yo, 3.15 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, 142 ERA+) is going to accept a 4 year $14M per deal like Buehrle? Mark is making some HUGE concessions here both in terms of years and dollars, what makes anyone think Jon Garland is going to do the same? I really don't think there's a chance in he does which means he probably won't be with the team beyond 2008.
  19. QUOTE(beck72 @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 02:43 PM) Would you trade Thornton? With Logan looking pretty solid, would Thornton get a good enough return in a trade? Esp. as he just signed a 3 yr deal, and he gets more expensive in '08 and '09 [only making 550 k this yr]. Relievers are notorious for being one yr wonders. And if Thornton can't get lefties out, [they're hitting over .300 vs. him this yr] why get stuck with a big contract for the next two years? If Thornton could net the sox a B+ prospect, some teams 6th-10th best prospect, I'd bite. If by "pretty solid" you mean "ultra dominant" then yes, I agree.
  20. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 03:12 PM) That's just a flat out lie. Crede put up an .809 OPS as the White Sox 7th hitter in the 2nd half last year. That's very good. However, he was absolutely terrible in September, putting up a .546 OPS. That's probably what you are remembering. .222/.270/.366/.636 from August 12th to the end of the season. .219/.264/.341/.605 In his last 89 games played.
  21. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 01:26 PM) Brian Roberts would be perfect for the White Sox. He was almost traded for Adam LaRoche and Marcus Giles last winter. Funny how Kenny and Theo both fell out of favor pretty quickly with a lot of people after winning long awaited titles. Has this season turned the tide back into Theo's favor in Boston? When that deal fell through, they chose to sign him to a $14.3M extension through 2009 instead.
  22. I'd absolutely love Orlando Hudson, he's the best defensive secondbaseman in the game, will only be 30 next year, has good contact, decent power, pretty good speed and good plate discipline. I don't know what the hell they'd want for him but I could definitely see KW being interested in the O-Dog.
  23. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 10:29 AM) Vazquez is on the 40-man while Wassermann is not. That being said, calling up Vazquez would be asinine. He's walked 22 batters in 33.1 innings in Charlotte and had an ERA of 5 last month. It doesn't matter anyways since Day seems to be healthy once again and will probably be activated from the DL on Saturday after Gavin pitches his part of the doubleheader. I can think of a quick way to clear 2 spots on the 40 man roster. Think "Gimpy" and "Grindy" then DFA.
