  1. But in reality there are around 12-15 AL starters having equal or better seasons than Buehrle and Garland.
  2. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 10:23 PM) Buehrle's all-star worthy too, W-L record aside Then Garland also needs to be considered.
  3. QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 09:42 PM) I would expect at least one player who has had some success at the ML level if I'm going to deal Buehrle. I kind of doubt that Minaya would do this, but I'd try to package Mark and Fields for Wright and a high-tier prospect. Reyes is an attractive option as well, but I don't think that he'd be under our control for as long. Minaya would be run out of New York if he dealt either. Talk about absolutely brutal trades. You're not getting major league talent for Buehrle, especially All-Stars.
  4. QUOTE(dasox24 @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 09:35 PM) I must admit that I think yall have convinced me about Betemit since this trade idea was first brought up. I'm still not crazy about the fact that he may be 27 years old, though. Anyway, can he play SS well? I ask this b/c since we just picked up Richar (who sounds like a 2B, not a SS anymore), we don't have a void at 2B. If we were to acquire two Second Basemen, then what would have been the point of trading a young prospect like Cunningham? If Betemit could play SS pretty well, then I'd be intrigued by a MI of Betemit and Richar next year. Betemit has played some short and from what I've read, he can hold his own at the position. At this point Richar just doesn't strike me as a starter caliber player especially for next season, more of an Ozuna type.
  5. Oh good things are a'happenin' Jermaine Dye over the past 5 games is putting up a .389/.450/.778/1.228 line w/ 3 R, 3 RBI, 4 2B and a HR. That's right, he's heating up. James Loney crashes into a concrete wall today and messes up his knee as well as his head, he could be out for a while. Just one less potential power threat for LA. The Dodger's lack of a competent power threat is reaching critical status. A .378 team slugging percentage just isn't going to cut it. Wilson Betemit is expendable with 4-5 guys around to play 2B, SS and 3B next season. His .211 BA will probably scare the lot of ya but that's because you're not looking at his .350 OBP and .800 OPS, shame on you. He'd look damn sexy at 2B for the next 3-4 seasons. I'm sorry but the Sox and Dodgers hooking up and swapping Dye and ??? for Betemit and Billingsley is just making far too much sense at this point.
  6. When Andy Gonzalez is your leadoff hitter it's probably time to start unloading.
  7. Touche. What if I said Konerko's offensive production is more consistent than Dunn's? Based on sheer numbers alone Konerko probably is overpaid but when taking everything into account, especially from a marketing standpoint I have no problem with him making $12M a year. If the Sox didn't have Konerko at 1B I wouldn't be nearly as opposed to the thought of Adam Dunn but I just don't like the idea of two $12M, .900 OPS power hitters on the roster especially with the financial situation this team currently finds itself in.
  8. If he jumps ship now or within the next 2 years I believe, he'll have to give most all of the money he's earned back to the Cubs.
  9. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 10:37 AM) I've been at the games the last 2 days in Cincinnati, and have seen Dunn a ton since he came up. I am completely in on dealing for him, he's basically Jim Thome without the batting average at the plate and we need outfield help. Jim Thome with a .900 OPS is not Jim Thome. I'm weary of any power hitter who's OPS fluctuates as much as Dunn's, the consistent 40 HR power is going to get Adam $12M+ a year but his career sub 900 OPS makes him more of an $9M player.
  10. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 11:12 AM) The funny thing is that they see Sox scouts at the game and they immediately think we are going after Dunn. My thoughts is that Freel or Griffey make more sense for what Kenny is looking for over Dunn. Ozzie would orgasm if we picked up Free. I still think they were scouting Figgins.
  11. QUOTE(Chet Lemon @ Jun 17, 2007 -> 10:49 AM) I never knew this about Iguchi and my respect for him will drop if it is true. Why? He's going to get his last multi-year contract this offseason I don't see why he shouldn't be able to go to a city he really wants to play in.
  12. Adam Dunn is a right fielder in the same sense that Paul Konerko is a right fielder. Yeah he has a little bit of speed but he's insanely brutal no matter where you put him in the field, he's a DH and he's going to be making $12M+ over the next 4-5 years something the Sox really can't afford since it wouldn't fill a need.
  13. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Jun 16, 2007 -> 10:17 PM) Call up Oneli Perez...anyone... Aardsma couldn't get AAA hitters out. What makes ANYONE think a dude with a +6 AAA era is going to do anything but pizz himself back in the show? What does it even matter at this point? Might as well let the guy workout his problems against major league hitters rather than buy another worthless contract from Charlotte. Aardsma has proven that he can get big league hitters out even if it is only when everything is going right for him, why not let him try to get it back on track at the big league level?
  14. Anderson is done, you'll never see him in silver and black again. Terrero needs to be out there everyday in CF even when Erstad makes his way back to the lineup.
  15. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 16, 2007 -> 05:33 PM) Looks white to me. Especially in comparison to the Dodgers mix in your avatar. Looks about right on my laptop the Dodgers guys look a little dark.
  16. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 16, 2007 -> 05:07 PM) Yeah, you're missing some pinstripes on that jersey. Too much work, I chose to make the jersey a road gray instead.
  17. The bigger question is what the hell do the Diamondbacks need with another outfielder? They have what like 15 future major league outfielders currently in the organization?
  18. QUOTE(Brian @ Jun 16, 2007 -> 02:25 PM) Do they have a good SS prospect? Does anyone? The funny thing is, the Devil Rays actually have a couple of them. I just hate that Organization.
  19. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 16, 2007 -> 02:23 PM) what inning did the fight happen? So when the game is achieved, I could go directly to the fight. 4th
  20. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 16, 2007 -> 01:13 PM) What the hell did Young say to Lee? I wish I could read lips... It looked like he said "Just go to first." then who knows.
  21. Lee missed on the one punch he got in and Chris Young missed both punches he threw at Lee as well. Marcus Giles did a great job of getting getting his pitcher out of there and then separating the 2 groups of players. Carlos Zambrano just ran out there like a f***ing maniac throwing punches at anyone who could get within reach of. What a f***ing nutjob that guy is. Alfonso Soriano started all of this bulls*** yesterday with his ridiculous twirl and moonwalk to first base after a homerun late.
  22. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 16, 2007 -> 12:52 PM) I don't think that is true. A lot of people here pine for the youngsters - they want to see the prospects. And when we trade prospects away - OH NO! The world has come to an end! I remember how many people were saying we gave up a s***load to get Garcia, and then Alomar, and then Everett, and then Thome, and then Vazquez. Some around here love the freakin' prospects. More times than not it works out when you are getting the ML player in return and not the prospects. Yeah, some. I'd say the majority of people would be happy if the Sox could trade away some unproven talent for a proven player to fill a hole on the major league roster. Sometimes the outrage of the few outweighs the pleasure of the many.
  23. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 16, 2007 -> 12:44 PM) Get excited and be prepared - as you told me - to be VERY disappointed. Weren't the Sox players going to Seattle supposed to be good to great players? Where are they now? That could be VERY disappointing. The Sox can only do 2 things - get as much as they can for him - or sign him. That is it. You would rather want the prospects - and that is fine. I am just not very fond of prospects. I would rather trade my prospects away and get proven MLB players in return. That's just me. I am not suggesting that we can do that at this point in time. I am just stating what I would rather have. I'm pretty sure most everyone would prefer to do that but it has nothing to do with what's happening this season.
