  1. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Feb 11, 2007 -> 12:46 AM) Carlos has a weight clause? As a part of his new contract with the Astros, if he reaches a certain weight within the first few years of the deal, Houston has the right to void the contract. Makes sense considering just how big he got after being traded to the Brewers.
  2. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Feb 11, 2007 -> 12:39 AM) It's not impossible to believe they'd atleast make a serious run. If we're seriously competitive this year and next -- hopefully with atleast one playoff birth -- our payroll should remain above 100 million. With our bullpen cheap, potential rotation cheap, and several options in Fields/Sweeney/Anderson, there should be reason not to. Cabrera would be a fricken superstar in this town. Atleast he would be on the Southside of Chicago. He'd also weigh around 300 pounds by the 3rd year of his deal, the guy is already getting big just imagine what the Chicago food would do to him. He'd need a Carlos Lee type weight clause in his contract.
  3. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Feb 11, 2007 -> 12:04 AM) Also, I've caught myself staring at your sig for practically minutes at a time. If you did that yourself, well done. Yeah, I started it the day after the Super Bowl, I wanted to make something for Spring Training so I created the sig and the logo in my avatar. I think I shifted into baseball mode sometime around the second Grossman interception.
  4. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Feb 10, 2007 -> 11:54 PM) I think it's whatever you grow up with, perhaps. I grew up with 2%, and it doesn't seem 'thick' or nasty to me at all. Then when i taste skim milk, it tastes like s***. So who knows. The odd thing is everyone else in my family drank 2% when I was a kid, as did I. I made the switch around age 12 and haven't looked back. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 10, 2007 -> 11:55 PM) You think thats bad? My GF's dad, who is probably 5'6, 150, drinks whole milk. It like comes out as a solid. Why doesn't he just inject it right into his arteries and cut out the middle man? Ugh, I've actually had a glass of whole milk before and as someone who prefers the thinnest form of milk, it didn't stay down long.
  5. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Feb 10, 2007 -> 10:36 PM) In the C-Store in my dorm, a half gallon of milk costs $2.19. Talk about price gouging. I love skim milk, always have I don't know what it is but the stuff is just so damn good. I can't stand 2%, it's like drinking cream. Disgusting. I just thought you'd like to know this.
  6. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 10, 2007 -> 04:40 PM) We'd still need a 3B in that scenario. Well Fields should be around at that point and Thome will likely be gone opening up the DH spot for a likely bloated Cabrera. Of course I don't know where this would leave Konerko since he likely won't even be able to walk in '09.
  7. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 10, 2007 -> 03:53 PM) I still think the Indians have the best rotation in the AL Central, but whatever. I do agree but it's tough to look past what the Tigers rotation was able to achieve last season. I don't see them having that same sort of success in '07 but as of right now I have to make them the favorite. I see the Indians ending up with the best rotation and lineup in the Central but the 4th worst bullpen, the Sox with the 2nd best rotation and lineup and a part of the crapshoot along with Detroit and Minnesota at the top of the AL Central pen wise. The Tigers should still have a pretty good rotation this season but I just don't see Verlander staying healthy and Robertson, Maroth and Rogers repeating what they did last season. So going into '07 I'd say Tigers, Indians, Sox, Twins but by the end of '07 I think it will end up Indians, Sox, Tigers, Twins.
  8. Jeremy Sowers was 7-4 with a 3.57 ERA and 1.19 WHIP in the MAJORS last season. In other words he was better than any Sox starter in his 14 starts last season. Cleveland's #1 and #5 starters give the Indians a nice advantage over the Sox going into '07. Tigers Indians Sox Twins Royals
  9. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Feb 10, 2007 -> 01:21 PM) I don't think either of them are funny. Conan's the only one that's good, and he's hilarious. Agreed. Late night television is completely useless when Conan is a rerun which is far too often.
  10. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 07:02 PM) You feel a bit of a fraud? Did Goldmember even post here in 2006? He received 20 votes just on reptutation alone. Who do you think made the banner currently atop the forum? Goldy did a lot of the graphics work for the launch and upgrade of the sites.
  11. QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 06:03 PM) No. It's just his job to market it. As for his comments, it's his job to get butts in the seats and spending money. The price of the ticket is an obsticle for him as well. Exactly right, it's Brook's job to make the fans forget they're paying more and put plans in place that will get the people to the game despite the fact that they'll have to shell out more doe just to get in the park. The fact that ticket prices have been raised for next season actually makes it harder for Brooks to do his job and as you said it becomes just another obstacle for him to overcome in order to fill the stadium. If the Sox had lowered ticket prices this offseason it would only have helped Brooks. His job is to make as much money for the organization as possible by filling up the stadium night in and night out regardless of the price of admission, not to set the price.
  12. QUOTE(shoota @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 05:29 PM) What do you mean? What the f*** does Brooks Boyer have to do with the rise in ticket prices?
  13. QUOTE(shoota @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 05:09 PM) And people still love Brooks Boyer. Get a clue.
  14. Uh, this actually makes total sense, Major League Baseball will be making money hand over fist if this goes through. It's so damn simple. http://biz.yahoo.com/indie/070209/620_id.html?.v=1
  15. The ice cream actually looks outstanding too.
  16. Yep, I still don't get the point of the ending. I assume someone will come down with amnesia next weak as well as the return of Turk's evil twin. Perhaps even some leering around a corner during a dramatic part of the episode. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 01:22 PM) I think they're trying to tone that down. Bill Lawrence has noted what you said. In S4 and S5, he said a lot of the kooky stuff that was in the fantasies entered the real world (the ostriches, etc.). He's noted that fans of seen that, and he's been quoted in the past month or so (I wish I could find the quote) saying that they're trying to keep it all in the dreams/fantasies again. I can definitely see where driving a half-open RV is goofy though, but I enjoyed it. Good, it's too bad he's exchanged the over the top humor with extreme baby drama this season. Maybe I'm just spoiled from the first few seasons where it was the absolute best comedy on TV.
  17. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 06:19 AM) Some funny stuff as usual ie the contest between Turk and Cox, but really too much drama for my tastes. I agree. Is it just me or is the show getting just over the top goofy, it always had a good amount of silly humor to it but it seems like they're getting away from reality a lot more these days
  18. Odd, I was nominated for 5 categories and only won 1 of them. There's only one reasonable explanation for this . . . you're all f***ing idiots.
  19. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 09:59 PM) So what happens for ties? Then we go reverse alphabetically to determine the winner.
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 06:49 PM) Well, it would be the same pitch making each of them good if he does figure it out. Just one of the reasons why I used Zito. Of course, I don't believe a bit of bit but that's neither here nor there.
  21. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 04:43 PM) FLoyd - 13-9 era - 3.85 He finally figures it out. So he's a right handed Barry Zito?
  22. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 09:38 AM) Its going to be Garland, he gets better every year. Not really, he's been consistently average since the 2002 season with the exception of '05 which was above his career norms. The obvious answer is Jose Contreras since he has probably the second best stuff of any starter on the team and has had a season as the team's ace already. I gotta go with Vazquez though, all signs point to a break out year from him.
  23. QUOTE(bad at best @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 01:08 AM) I'd say at or damn close to 260. Its his second full year, time shine. I think he'll do it to. He averaged near that in the second half, right? First 52 G, 129 AB: .163/.257/.295/.551, 2 2B, 5 HR, 15 RBI, 17 R Final 83 G, 240 AB: .263/.313/.408/.721, 21 2B, 4 HR, 21 RBI, 30 R So in other words, yes, yes he did.
  24. So Chris Mortensen is now reporting that Wade Phillips will be hired on as Cowboys Head Coach. Sucks for Ron Rivera, he'll have to wait another year for his shot at a head coaching job.
  25. QUOTE(qwerty @ Feb 7, 2007 -> 08:48 PM) To be honest i thought they just picked the poster of the year nominations out of a hat this year. Lies!
