Atleast we got Buehrle going tomorrow. With the real lineup in there we should have a much better result.
-
Add Sean Tracey to the Pussing out club.
-
I just rewound my Tivo and it looks like AJ sticks out his right arm and points just before Tracey's first pitch is thrown. Interesting.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 08:55 PM) You sure as hell are posting like one tonight. You know better. It's called an opinion. How horrible of me to take a negative stance just once.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 08:53 PM) Or you can stop with your sky is falling bulls***. People like you scream and cry every time this team takes a tough loss and you make it sound like we should just pack it in and forget the rest of the season. Every time you pessimists scream the loudest this team sucks it up and wins some games. Um, have you ever read any of my posts? I'm not a pessimist at all.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 08:47 PM) I dont think a hit batter can crush a teams spirit, it actually made them more pissed off. Padilla is just getting 3 inches on each corner and is hitting the spot with ease. Theres really nothing we can do about that right now. So it's not demoralizing being getting your ass handed to you by a lesser pitcher? This team has done nothing offensively today and AJ being hit twice with no retaliation did not hellp matters. He's not getting 3 inches, any pitch that he's getting on the outer half is just off the corner, he does not have a Maddux strikezone. Vicente's actions today have the Sox hitters scared at the plate.

QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 08:44 PM) jesus christ, just stop already this is one game...let's not blow this out of proportion we were not going to sweep a 4 game set at arlington, big surprise Or you could stop blowing sunshine out of your ass, either one. How did you feel after Hunter took out Burk? Did you think the Sox were demoralized? This is the same damn situation, this game is incredibly mental and a rough mental patch like this can kill a team's spirit.
-
This is incredibly demoralizing to the White Sox. I honestly would not be surprised if this was the start of a losing streak right here.
-
I knew he wouldn't hit anyone, IMO he showed he couldn't handle it during the Indians series when he attempted to hit someone I believe Belliard in a retalitory fashion and ended up s***ting his pants afterwards.
-
Son of a b****, they're actually gonna blow this oppertunity.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 07:38 PM) I don't even remember who won it....I think it was Hunter? Ever since Palmeiro won the GG at 1B, in a year where he primarily played DH, I don't really take the award that seriously. I still think Vernon Wells is a damn good CF. Hunter, Wells and Ichiro won them last year.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 07:35 PM) Rowand didn't deserve it last year. He made too many miscues towards the end of the year. Also, his throwing arm was terrible last year. It doesn't even come close to comparing to the arms of the top CFs like Jones and Hunter. There's no way that Hunter deserved it though he only played half the season, I do agree that Rowand made a good amount of mistakes and I definately agree on the arm but there's really no one else in the AL who deserved it more than Rowand (Kotsay especially.)

QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 07:32 PM) rowand should of won it last year.....then why is everyone saying crede should win it? u just said it, they are better....i like chavez at third over crede Nationally IMO Crede is considered the superior defensive 3B.
-
QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 07:26 PM) nah chavez will. everyone is probably gunna hate me for saying this but i think chavez is a better defensive 3b and has been great this year. Not a huge fan of Chavez' range, just about every A's game I've seen he ends up diving for a ball that Rolen or even Crede just turn and grab. I think maybe his reflexes are a little slow.

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 07:22 PM) josh lewelen says AJ "is going to bellyache about being hit." oh brother Have you ever really seen Pierz b**** about getting hit? I seem to recall him enjoying it most every time, hey it's a free baserunner.
-
Just to let everyone know Joe Crede will be winning a gold glove this year. That's right he's actually going to get enough national attention to warrant winning the award. You can take my word for it especially seeing how I'm just about the most pessimistic person around these parts when it comes to players winning awards. HEY PIERZYNSKI EAT THIS, b****!

QUOTE(Felix @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 07:10 PM) Jim Thome's approach to the plate: Pitch 1: Ball Pitch 2: Swing as hard as possible Pitch 3: Swing as hard as possible Pitch 4: Ball Pitch 5: Ball Pitch 6: Strikeout/Walk/Homerun And that's exactly what the Sox picked him up to do. Tis the way of the power hitter.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 04:13 PM) That means nothing. Have you seen the league leaders in errors at other positions right now? Come on man, talk about really cherry picking some stats. 3x as many erros, you are talking about a difference of 4 errors. That can happen in a weekend, s*** in a game. That's not cherry picking at all, OFs in general do not make a lot of errors it's just the way it is. Infielders have way more chances and thus make more errors. Any time you see an OF especially a corner OF with as many errors as Podsednik has right now you have to be seriously concerned.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 06:24 PM) El duque just struck out Bobby Abreu with a 56 mph curve ball. Just saw that, looked more like an ephus.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 12:03 PM) Fixed. Yup, iirc most of the Ortiz talk here was just a big sigh of relief. Mazzone obviously hasn't done much for the O's, btw. Brain cramp.
-
I'd rather not have him in Charlotte, if he pitches well down there he might get a chance in the pen and I'd rather not lose any more games do to the pen imploding. The reason Ortiz was such a huge risk for Arizona and most everyone knew he would suck is because of his unbelievably lacking stuff and s*** control the guy put up a 1.51 WHIP his final season with Atlanta, that is horrid. After leaving Mazzone you just knew he'd implode and what do you know. National League + Great pitching coach + pretty good pitchers park in Atlanta + lots of run support + blind luck = One lucky ass pitcher, it was a recipe for disaster the second he left the Braves.
-
Not to mention the crazy amount of cherry picking that's going on.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 11:02 AM) The big difference was that everyone in baseball agreed that Contreras had top of the rotation stuff, just not the head to go with it. Russ has medicore stuff at best. Even in his good year with Atlanta his ERA was high and he was winning games by people outslugging the opposition. So true, it's incredibly scary to think of what he would do in the AL. Not having that automatic out every 9 batters would inflate his already horrendous 7+ ERA.
