QUOTE(3E8 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 10:40 PM) I could watch Mike Sweeney destroy Jeff Weaver all day. The best part of that was the throwing of the helmet, players don't normally have the balls to use any part of their equipment as a weapon. If you're going to go beat the s*** out of the pitcher chances are you're in for a nice suspension anyway why not start it off by chucking your helmet at his skull?

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 10:38 PM) Right, but he was still great for at least one half AFTER 2003. He mainly started the AS Game because he was 12-2 going into the break, a 3.21 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and .242 BAA can hardly be considered great. Very good, Buehlresque but not great.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 10:20 PM) Yes, it's possible. There was no doubt Guillen was mad about something though. It appeared he was pissed at Tracey, but then again none of us were up close and personal so it's all conjecture. Very true but I doubt Ozzie would get that upset over Tracey throwing a few pitches inside.
-
QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 10:16 PM) so you're saying Ozzie was pissed he DID NOT hit him, or pissed that he tried? He was pissed because Tracey missed. It was pretty obvious.

QUOTE(Dan @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 10:00 PM) if anybody is ashamed of The Hawk's reaction, you are straight up pussies. as a Sox fan, how are you not mad at Padilla? Haha, now we're gettin somewhere.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:51 PM) Silly me. Premature evacuator

QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:49 PM) I missed the game, can I have a play by play of what happened please? Ozzie and Showalter got into a fist fight behind home plate after AJ was plunked twice by Padilla. Bloody mess.

QUOTE(daa84 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:35 PM) hey kalapse i went back on my tivo and looked at what you said in the game thread about AJ holdin out his hand....thats interesting certainly made it look intentional...but he also did it earlier in the game in the inning before and nothing happened, maybe he wanted vazquez to do it too Yeah, I caught that too. It really seems that's what AJ does when a pitcher is going to hit a batter, maybe a little extra f*** you afterwards when they're watching the tape. They see AJ point to them right before they get pelted.

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:39 PM) To have the type of year Willis had in 2005, it's just hard for me to believe it could be done with smoke and mirrors. Fidrych won 19 games and put up a 2.34 ERA in '76. Nomo put up a 2.54 ERA and a 1.056 WHIP in '95. It's been done before.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:35 PM) Well, I agree with the boldened, but that's nonsense -- that Javier can't handle hitting someone. You're pointing out one incident where he "implodes" after throwing at someone, and that one incident can be explained by a variety of things. I'm not sure if you've caught on yet, but the Indians...they've got a pretty potent offense. Just a little, anyway. I'm also coupling this with my belief that he's pretty weak mentally. He wasn't able to handly being a #1 starter or pitch in New York though he did dominate in the nothingness that is Montreal.
-
QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:29 PM) Didn't Willis win 22 games in his 3rd full year in the NL? Was he still able to trick people? Seriously, that's just retarded IMO. That's an awful lot of people you're calling retarded there, I am just one of a large amount of people who believe this.

QUOTE(Jake @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:33 PM) Did anyone else get the notion that he pulled Tracey for not hitting that guy? You're crazy.
-
Solid. Not spectacular but solid.
-
I didn't say that he should have hit him, simply that I don't think he could handle it. I can remember the specific details but I believe Javy was supposed to hit Belliard in Cleveland, he missed, after that pitch he imploded. If anyone was going to hit a Texas hitter it would have been a relief pitcher not Javy.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:26 PM) He'd be good his first time around and then get absolutely torched afterwards. True, the funky motion would be good for confusing hitters but Shingo can only get away with it for so long. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:27 PM) I thought he was back to form recently. What are the concerns? That he's a gimmick pitcher who will soon see his demise. Also that the funky delivery will end up destroying his arm.

Am I the only one who thinks Dontrelle "the bird" Willis would get absolutely destroyed in the AL?
-
QUOTE(Ndgt10 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:20 PM) Fields, Garland for Willis. NEVER! I have no use for Mr. Fidrych.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:19 PM) Ok mister losing streak.........move along.......nothing to see here. The difference between this and my post was I didn't believe a word of what I typed out. Especially considering how I think we'll beat the piss out of the Reds (like I've said before) and I had no problem with the Hunter/Burke situation, unlike most Sox fans. I just wanted to see who would agree with it.

Is this thread negative?

QUOTE(ChiSoxLifer @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:11 PM) I don't think he threw at him. If you guys remember correctly he was really wild versus the Indians in that 10-8 game where the Sox scored six in the ninth inning. Wild pitch, 2 walks, 2 hits, and 2 earned runs. This was eventually the winning margin. I'm sure Ozzie took him out and was pissed because he couldn't find the strike zone. With that said, I'm sure he will be optioned back to the minors before the game is even over. He got Blalock out and threw some damn good pitches in doing so. Ozzie was pissed for much different reasons.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:09 PM) Wouldn't be surprised at all if Tracey is gone after this game. I honestly would.
-
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:09 PM) Havier HLopez? I'm not so sure they want to go there just yet.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:07 PM) If Tracey gets sent down after this game because of this situation, I'll be extremely disappointed. There's really no one to call up though especially with Politte not due back yet.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 09:07 PM) He threw at him twice! Don't you think four straight pitches at him would be a little too much? Tell that to Russ Springer.
