  1. QUOTE(knightni @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 05:09 PM) Join the party! Will do. It looks so much better when it's 1050x1500 as opposed to 150x150.
  2. QUOTE(GasHeGone @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 05:53 PM) Does anyone think Thome was on the juice and maybe that has something to do with his injury and horrible '05 stats? f***.NO.
  3. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 04:39 PM) I love this trade from a baseball stand point...no doubt. Hopefully gio is staying but even if he's not while giving up some good prospects I just absolutely love that we now have a left handed power bat in the middle of the order. I've said before I'm going to go along with everything Kenny does this offseason, he's earned that imo. I'm going to miss you Aaron...thanks for everything. Welcome to Chicago Jim. On a sidenote... I assume everyone is going to mourn as my soxtalk name will have to be retired. keep it
  4. QUOTE(scotty22hotty @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 04:35 PM) horrible... the sox will pay 7.5 million a year for the next 3 years for an old, injured 1b. Arow was our best OF... this trade makes no sense... Dye was our best overall OFer. 7.5M for Thome aint' s*** and he's not oft injured. He's had one injury plagued season.
  5. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 04:26 PM) A guy on Mac Jurko and Harry had an idea of going to Crawford or Gathwright instead of Pierre.....which either would cost a lot more than Pierre though... Gathwright - no thank you. Crawford - not going anywhere (and if he were to be traded, it would help to still have Haig and Gio)
  6. QUOTE(dmbjeff @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 04:20 PM) hey if they would have taken borchard instead of rowand, id be even more happy, but u dont get a player like thome at half the price without giving up someone of some value....rowand isnt an all star, remember that, thome is.....as long as thome is healthy he is putting up 40+hr's 100+rbi Who's an all-star and who's not an all-star means absolutely nothing.
  7. QUOTE(SoxPride56 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 04:13 PM) kalapse, i am a huge aaron fan as well, but it is hard for me to come around on this trade. what has made u change your mind a little? i need to know so i can come around on this trade I've never been big on Brian Anderson and I've always loved Row so the immediate shock of losing Row hurt and it sqewed the way I looked at the deal. In reality this team needed more pop in the lineup and we more than likely were not going to get that from Rowand, Thome more than fills that need if he's able to play a full season (which he should be able to seeing how he's only had one injury plagued year in his career). If Anderson fills in in CF next year we won't lose much defense and he won' thave to do a whole hell of a lot to match Row's '05 offensive numbers. This trade should help the team much more than it will hurt it.
  8. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 04:09 PM) Good to know Anderson can play CF. Did he play CF in the minors? I apologize Timo being the starting CF should be in green. Yes he was a centerfielder in the minors.
  9. QUOTE(dmbjeff @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 04:01 PM) for as much b****ing that i saw on the main thread, i thought more people would hate it cause they have a man crush on rowand....if thome is healthy, he is a stud and brian anderson can do the job in cf just as well if not better IMO I b****ed as much as anyone at the beginning of the main thread yet I voted yes in the poll. 2 hours makes quite a difference.
  10. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 04:02 PM) Remember 1 thing...those who are talking about Pierre...the reason to get Pierre would be offense, not defense. However, we just subtracted defense to get offense...but there's a reason why we could do that...because we have defense waiting in the winds in B.A. So if you lose Defense (rowand) and gain Offense at a non-defensive position in DH. You have to replace Rowand's Defense in centerfield with more defense (Anderson). Wouldn't it hurt to add even more offense (Pierre) in place of that defense? Also this would make Anderson the 4th outfielder.
  11. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 04:00 PM) somthing kinda like this maybe if get Pierre. i like i like Pods - 0 HR Pierre - 0 HR Thome - 40 HR Konerko - 40 HR Dye - 30 HR A.J - 18 HR Crede - 25 HR Iguchi - 15 HR Uribe - 18 HR
  12. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 03:55 PM) Anyone hear anything new regarding a CF replacement? I.E. Pierre, Damon, J. Jones or are we just going to put Anderson out there? You will not be seeing Damon or Jones on the Sox next year, I can gaurantee you that. Our number one option at this point would be Anderson with a possibility that we could trade for Pierre.
  13. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) Just wondering, how could this make Konerko come back. Could this spell the end of him? Could Konerko see Thome as a replacement for him? Konerko should want to come back more now that he has legit protection in the lineup in Thome. Thomas is more than likely done with the Sox unless Konerko is not resigned.
  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 03:50 PM) Have we yet become sure it's Gio and not a PTBNL? It is a PTBNL and according to the 100% always correct source known as Bruce Levine, it will be Gio.
  15. QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 03:49 PM) Agreed. But, I feel like we kinda owe it to Frank to bring him back IF he's healthy. He has earned that. Not really. You do what's best for the team not what's best for a player who's been around for a long time. Keeping players around when they're well past their prime has gotten many a GM fired. Frank was great for the Sox for 15 seasons but he's been gone for a while now.
  16. QUOTE(Wanne @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 03:45 PM) Haigwood?!?...BEST?!? Would you have rather thrown Honel in the deal Willie?!? WTF!?!? Honel has negative value at this point. He has been placed on waivers and noone claimed him. He's no longer a prospect, you're still stuck in 2003.
  17. QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 03:45 PM) School me...why isn't it worth a shot? Is Frank a better hitter than Ross Gload? Pablo Ozuna? Chris Widger? Ross Gload can play 1B and maybe some OF. Ozuna can play anywhere and Widger can play Catcher and a mean 3B. Frank can DH. Evertime you pinch hit with Frank you have to use another guy off the bench. So frank takes up 2 bench spots. No thanks.
  18. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 03:44 PM) umm ESPN said we got Cash and Thome for A-row, no minor leaguers were mentioned, where are you getting this from. You're way behind.
  19. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 03:43 PM) Who is then Honel
  20. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 03:39 PM) No, on the trade, smartass. Please don't make me go back and embarass you. Know what, I don't care. I'm feeling awfully good. Go Pale Hose. What because at first I was very upset about losing Rowand and now I'm starting to come around but still going over the pros and cons of the trade? Maybe you shouldn't have quoted me when I was talking about Thomas and not the trade. I don't think I'm the f***ing smartass.
  21. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 03:36 PM) Do you want to pick a side yet or what? Frank's not a bench player.
  22. QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 03:34 PM) Maybe...maybe not. I think it's worth a shot. No, no it's not.
  23. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 03:31 PM) Just think about this...at least we'd get the opportunity to give ARow a standing ovation every single time he came to the plate at the Cell for the rest of his career much more often if he was in the AL. NO
  24. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 03:30 PM) Is the same mood on the board as the day CLee was traded for Pods? No, people have a certain connection to Row that they didn't have to CLee. Besides I think most people like this trade as opposed to the Pods trade.
