QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 05:32 PM) Instead of Orton, oh yeah. Jeesh, way to take a page outta NFLDraftcountdown.com You do know it's possible to trade draft picks right? The Bears could have picked up a late 3rd round or early 4th round pick and taken him. -
QUOTE(3E8 @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 12:12 PM) No. I think most of us besides SSH and Soxpranos hate the idea. I didn't read most of the massive JUAN PIERRE thread so I wasn't sure of the overall consensus feeling toward Pierre.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 02:10 PM) I dont know how many people watched the Bears postgame yesterday on Comcast, or if anyone is watching the replay right now, but Richard Dent is awful behind the microphone. Just dreadful Especially with that beard. :headshake

QUOTE(knightni @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 01:54 PM) I wanna add here: http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...90entry791290 and here: http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...28entry794928 to the record. Of course, Grossman COULDN'T remain healthy. But, I did say that they could win the division. Don't toot your own horn or anything. :rolly

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 01:49 PM) This "End of Hutchison" thread is GREAT! Also lost in the hat-eating promise was this gem. This quote wasnt bad, just incredibly ironic after yesterdays game. For shame, quoting me without also including the clarification of my comment. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 01:30 PM) There's about a 1% chance Orton does anything of substance this year. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 01:34 PM) How do you figure QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 01:42 PM) Low expectations, if he does well I'll be ecstatic. I've been calling for Orton to be the starter and I have faith in him but if I set my expectations to high and he falters I'll be pissed. Expectations low meaning a better chance of success.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 01:17 PM) God, it's turning into a Clash Love-fest here. Don't get me wrong, I like The Clash quite a bit. I think their first album is amazing, even the US version (that's the one with "Jail Guitar Doors" for crying out loud!). I just don't think they were as great a band as they are made out to be. Hell, they aren't even the best band out of the 70's UK scene. I'll take The Damned, Chelsea, and Generation X to name a few, over them any day. But I DO like them a bunch. Rancid was my first love and remains to this day my favorite band. I've listened to the entire "Let's Go" album about 4 times over the past week in my car. If it weren't for the Clash, Tim Armstrong may have never of been able to capture the sound that he has with Rancid and I may never have become completely obsessed with this band. So for that I am forever greatful to the Clash.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 09:17 AM) This team is just screaming for a real quarterback. Thats what we need to address. How many teams right now have an established QB? Quarterbacks are extremely hard to come by. This years draft will feature 1 big name QB for sure in Leinert and possibly another in Young. After that you have a guy like Omar Jacobs from Bowling Green who's another level or 2 below those 2. Below Jacobs you have Darrell Hackney (UAB), Jay Cutler (Vandy), Reggie McNeal (T A&M) and Brode Croyle. This draft isn't all that deep at the QB position much like most drafts. Plus drafting a QB means you have to wait atleast another year for them to develop before he could even start playing, so we set this team back another year. This years draft as of right now should focus around a TE, WR, OL, LB and a DB. The QB position should be filled through Free Agency, not going back into the draft. Depending on where we go in the draft will obviously affect who we can target but from the TE side we could be looking at a Vernon Davis (Maryland) if we get a pick in the mid to late 20's unless of course Marcedes Lewis (UCLA) falls to us then he'd be an amazing pick (though this will not happen, he'll be a top 12 pick more than likely). This is also assuming that Vernon Davis comes out and doesn't opt to go back to college for his senior year, if he did go back we could be looking at Leonard Pope (Georgia) in the 1st. Thinking about WR, I'm assuming Santonio Holmes will be going in the top 15 so he'll be off the board, so if you're going to go for a WR in this very weak WR draft the Bears would be better off waiting until the 2nd round and shooting for a guy like Martin Nance (Miami OH) who's a big, physical WR with great leaping ability and athletisim but only average speed. It seems like the '06 draft as of right now will be filled with late round sleepers as opposed to the big name 1st-2nd round can't miss guys. -
I'm still waiting for a hat to be consumed.

Am I the only one that doesn't like the idea of swapping Rowand for Pierre? A trade that includes the two would more than likely also include 1 or 2 more players from the Sox' side (Marte + spect). Pierre is a huge downgrade defensively from Rowand especially when it comes to arm strength seeing how I can throw a ball further with my feet than he can with his arm and this would also give us 2 defensive liabilities in an OF that was extremely solid last year. Even for what Pierre does, steal bases, he isn't all that effective at it: '01 - 46SB/63A = 73% '02 - 47SB/59A = 80% '03 - 65SB/85A = 76% '04 - 45SB/69A = 65% '05 - 57SB/74A = 74% Not great. Is another leadoff hitter with 0 power really worth the defensive downgrade it would cost you?

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Nov 20, 2005 -> 09:24 PM) Chicagoans generally aren't outdoorsman, it's a fact. That's pretty much bulls*** and what about women? I know quite a few gals who enjoy deer hunting and 4 that live in the city.

There are two very wrong generalizations in your post.

No doubt in my mind we should have drafted him. yeesh -
QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Nov 20, 2005 -> 03:47 PM) Train In Vain - The Clash. I'm amazed that I have seen this song slammed on here. It might not be the blistering PUNK that The Clash had done in the past, but it is an amazing song regardless with some of the best lyrics and greatest double tracked vocals ever commited to vinyl. You want perfect emotion in vocals, this song has it all over. Totally agree. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Nov 20, 2005 -> 03:47 PM) The Eliminator - Agnostic Front. From the beginning guitar drop, this song blazes. Pure venom, and pure fighting music. Why do people play stuff like AC/DC and bands of that sort to get worked up, when stuff of this sort exists? Absof***inglutely, Agnostic Front has long been a favorite of mine just becuase of the pure power that their music gives off. Before every football or baseball game I played in for the past 6 years I'd pop my Victim in Pain/Cause for Alarm CD into my walkman and zone out. The only other album that could get me going like that is "Sounding the Seventh Trumpet" by Avenged Sevenfold.

I really, really, really wanted Jerome Mathis in the later rounds in this past draft. Azumah really doesn't look like the same KR he was last year and Mathis would be sick on ST for the Bears. Not to mention the fact that he could turn out to be a damn good WR in time with the speed he has. -
I still havn't seen a single Bears fan sincerely talk about the Bears going to the Superbowl this year.

QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Nov 20, 2005 -> 01:36 PM) Do you think he meant Blum? That would be even more retarded seeing how he signed with them what, 3 days ago?

QUOTE(Brian @ Nov 20, 2005 -> 01:33 PM) Am I being picky when I scream, STOP DROPPING THE DAMN BALL! Orton putting the ball where he needs to. Atleast 5 drops thus far. I think I've threatened to kill Moose about 4 times in this game thus far. Orton is playing great but Moose and Clark can't hold onto his perfect passes.

This has been an extremely entertaining game to watch thus far.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 10:21 AM) IS THAT IT!!?!?!?!?! Is that the one we've been waiting for. Oh gosh. Heart racing. Panting. It's not exactly what we wanted, the DVD comming out in March is only the 4 world series games. It doesn't include any of the other 8 playoff games like the Red Sox and Yankees DVDs did.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 10:10 AM) I'm not asking for a c'n'p job, but........... Anyone willing to summerize for those that haven't registered? http://bugmenot.com/view.php?url=chicagosports.com

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Nov 19, 2005 -> 09:56 AM) You got that right, my man. I have never written a "fan letter" in my life, but, after having seen this week's episode, I've been compelled to write those two a letter professing their genius and my appreciation for the brilliant work they put together. This episode was SO far ahead of its time, it's not even funny...much like Beavis and Butthead in the 90s. These two write a political/societal commentary week-in-and-week-out and are able to pass it off as sophomoric dick and fart jokes out of the mouth of grade schoolers. Seriously? I really hope this humor is being appreciated for what it truly is. After an absolutely genius episode, they challenge the church to sue them at the end and then make John and Jane Smith all the credits. Are you kidding me? Just brilliant. I can't say enough about this show. The most amazing thing about Trey and Matt is a lot of the times they end up finishing the episodes on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning. That's why you usually don't see teasers for next weeks episodes because Parker and Stone still don't know WTF it's going to be about.
-
Saw the episode, it's one of the best they've had in a while. I'm glad they're getting the word of Scientology out there for people to see. So people can see just how truely insane this "religion" is. Tom Cruise is a pussy.

QUOTE(Wong & Owens @ Nov 18, 2005 -> 05:18 PM) Is it Matt, the son? Possibly, but it doesn't necessarily have to be a man. A few of the victims have been raped but that does not mean that it was a real penis. I really think it's Kimber. It all just fits so perfectly.
