I'm really interested in seeing what Chad Tracy does in 2006.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 03:56 PM) How overated has he become on this board? Almost as much as furcal and people wanting him for ten million a year. People enjoy saying how good a player is on another team so they don't have to use Aaron Rowand when talking about the best defensive OFers in baseaball.

QUOTE(beck72 @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 03:56 PM) BMac will be in the rotation to start 2006. The sox need a Bmac type ready in AAA in 06 And Duke is our 6th starter. You say you try and think like Ozzie and KW yet you rule out El Duque being the 6th starter for next year when that's more than likely what they're thinking about going with in '06.

QUOTE(beck72 @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) I'm trying to think like Ozzie and KW. Trading Arow for pitching makes perfect sense. I definitely see the sox wanting a SP from AAA ready to step in and win games should an injury occur. They don't want to get into the whole 5th starter merry-go-round. They should want someone who can step in for the whole yr, not just one or two starts. the sox don't even have a guy who can fill in for one or two starts Sometime this offseason, a trade should be made that will address this gap in the sox. You just described Brandon McCarthy.

QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 03:48 PM) Kotsay's arm is infinitely better than Rowand's arm. Hunter's better than both guys when healthy. Kotsay's arm may be better than Rowand's but Row has much better range and get's better jumps on balls. Row seriously has to concentrate on making more accurate throws next year and avoid popping the ball off the back of the mound. And like I said Hunter >>> Kotsay/Rowand.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 03:47 PM) Did I not just say that? I was typing while you posted.

QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 03:46 PM) Is Ramon Hernandez rumored to re-sign? Didn't they say they were going to make Olivo their main C? Also Nomar going to LAD, isn't Valentin coming back? I bet the next thing he says if PK doesn't re-sign "Manny going to the Whte Sox." I can hear him now. Ramon Hernandez will more than likely be leaving the Padres. The Mets appear to be the best fit. Olivo will be the Padres #1 Catcher next year. Nomar going to LA is another great possibility. Valentine is almost exclusively a 3B now and the Dodgers have had a thing for Nomah for a while now. Those were probably two of his better predictions.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 03:42 PM) Um Mark Kotsay is the best CF in the game without a doubt. Rowand = Kotsay Hunter >>> Kotsay

Is there a new rule in MLB where the Yankees, Mets and Red Sox get to carry 30 men on their major league roster?
-
I still don't want Rowand traded until after the '06 season. Unless a trade comes up for Delgado, I really don't want to see Row moved. The .900 OPS CF from '04 was so f***in' good, he needs one more season to prove it wasn't a fluke.
-
I'm not sure that would be a good thing. Soxtalk doesn't really need any more one line posters, who really have nothing to say but post anyway.

What Sox championship memorabilia do you recommend

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Nov 9, 2005 -> 08:05 PM) any news on the wheaties box>? mid-november is rapidly approaching The Wheaties boxes are in. I went into work today and found 3 of them sitting in the back for me. $2.50 each not half bad. So Jewel does have the Wheaties boxes now. -
Bears impending QB "controversy"?

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 12:14 AM) You really are hilarious..... If the Bears cant trust Grossman to stay healthy why not just cut him? Because if they dont think he can stay healthy why is he even on the team why is he on the 53 man active roster? Why do you even bother? -
QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 08:15 PM) When we were at our hottest Rowand was our three hitter almost every game... Also I do expect Konerko to be gone... I just can't see KW giving him a 5 year deal, although I would love to be proved wrong there for sure... Also I expect them to resign Thomas to a minor league deal and if he's healthy enough to be our DH by midseason then we will be a team to look out for down the stretch... Actually we were 13-1 with Dye hitting 3rd last year. I'd say that's pretty damn hot. Rowand was at his best when batting 5th where he put up a .830 OPS last year though he did hit with a robust .723 OPS in the 3 hole.

QUOTE(WinninUgly @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 06:23 PM) The Count did pitch Game 1 of the ALDS, ALCS, and WS. I know the end of the season dictated this slightly, but Ozzie could have easily went with Mark in Game 1 of the WS, but he stayed with Count. Just wondering if he would carry that over until next season? The Count started the 1st game of every series because he was the best pitcher at that time and by starting game 1 he'd be able to pitch 2 or 3 times in the series if needed. The opening day starter doesn't necessarily have to be you "best" pitcher.
-
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 06:14 PM) Buehrle. And it will always be Buehrle unless he's injured or he's gone. BTW, I personally would like to see it be Count. There really is no arguement, Buehrle is the face of this pitching staff and in many ways the face of the team. There is no other pitcher on this team I'd rather have starting opening day.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 01:37 PM) Good point. I recently read that while the rest of the Braves players were celebrating with champagne, he sat alone in another room. Later a few ran into his room and sprayed him water and pop I think. I don't want to read too much into that, but I'd say his problems are real. Well, after 2 DUIs and poor day game play for the past two season. I guess you can say he has some pretty serious problems.

QUOTE(daa84 @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 01:31 PM) giant contract, but they could get him cheap in terms of prospects. plus colorado im sure would eat some of it. id do it in a heart beat if the sox can get col to pay a hefty chunk. The guys a flat obp machine. had a dip in power last year, but his doubles were still high, so much of it can return. ive never seen a guy rake as much as he does and get talked about so little. granted coors has alot to do with it prolly, his numbers in this decade are pujols like The Rockies have said two things consistantly; 1.) They are NOT trading Helton 2.) If somehow they did, they would not eat any of his contract. Todd Helton's road splits are icky, I don't care if we do play at Coors East, a player making $16.6M+ a year for the next 6 years has to be more of a gaurantee than he is.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 01:31 PM) .276 .326 .354 Just say NO to that for 7 mil or so. One other thing that should bother people about Pierre: 7 SB 6 CS 54% 46 SB 17 CS 73% 47 SB 12 CS 80% 65 SB 20 CS 76% 45 SB 24 CS 65% 57 SB 17 CS 77%

QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 01:21 PM) FWIW, ESPN 1000 is saying via Levine that the Sox may be interested in Helton from the Rockies... anyone know hiw contract status? He has a mammoth contract. '06 - $16.6M '07 - $16.6M '08 - $16.6M '09 - $16.6M '10 - $16.6M '11 - $19.1M '12 - Team Option - $23M, $4.6M buyout + has ability to void deal after 2007 and become a Free Agent, if he notifies the team of his decision by Nov. 15, 2006 + COMPLETE NO-TRADE CLAUSE

The pick is probably protected if it's in the top 3. Meaning if the Knicks end up with one of the top 3 picks, they get to keep the pick. So the Bulls could still recieve the Knick's 1st round pick if it is a lottery pick. Also I believe the Bulls have the option of taking the Knicks '06 pick instead of the '05.
-
QUOTE(hi8is @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 12:47 PM) unless he will sign an extention with an ozzie discount, ala freddy garcia Why would he do that? Not everyone is married to one of Ozzie's siblings.
-
QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 12:34 PM) Thats a great problem to have. That would give you multiple options which is never a bad thing Yes, it is a bad thing. You'd have a guy in limbo, there's nowhere to put him unless you trade Rowand for him which would be f***ing stupid. With Pierre in CF it would be a huge defensive downgrade. Pierre is a better Scott podsednik, that's really all he is. Maybe Rowand should get another season to prove that '04 wasn't a fluke. Because for all you that are so high on Chad Tracy maybe you should compare Tracy's numbers from last year to Rowand's in '04, they're almost identical. Rowand had a bad '05, he deserves another season to prove he's better than that.

QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 09:52 AM) Just out of curiousity, who's Uribe's agent? I thought I heard it was Boras too. His agent is Martin Arburua. He had Scott Boras but fired him before the season, then proceeded to sign a new contract with the Sox.
