  1. QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 04:00 PM) So does that mean Hawk and DJ got rings? Yes.
  2. QUOTE(FlaCWS @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) I said backup catcher and everyday DH. I also said relatively cheap, and if we lose Frank and Paul we'll have to find some source of right-handed power. I guarantee Piazza will be someone's everyday DH in '06. But, again, it's now a moot point. Sorry I brought it up. We already have a good amount of right handed power at this point. What we need for next year would be a power hitter who can hit RH pitching.
  3. QUOTE(FlaCWS @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 03:47 PM) Defensively... no question. But Piazza still has a couple of years left in that Hall of Fame bat. I forgot to mention Konerko too. If we lose Carl, Frank and Paul, that's a lot of power. Piazza could come relatively cheap too. He's 36 years old (or thereabouts). But it's a moot point now. Piazza can hardly hit, he can't run, he can't play any defense behind the plate, he can't throw, he wouldn't want to be a backup and he would still make a few million next year. He's just about done.
  4. QUOTE(FlaCWS @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 03:44 PM) There goes my plan to sign Piazza as our backup catcher and everyday DH. :-) I like Widger a lot, but I thought Piazza would make a lot of sense, especially with Everett gone and (possibly, but hopefully not) Frank too. The Widge >>> Piazza
  5. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 03:10 PM) I usually don't do green. If people can't pick up sarcasm, thats their problem. Plus I wear flame-retardant gear when I'm at the computer I havn't used green either but Fathom has a history of taking a beating for posts like that.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 03:10 PM) It's part of the fun, to see that some posters can be that oblivous to sarcasm. I'm sure you remember me a few months ago saying that I wish Shingo was on the team instead of Jenks because it was so much more exciting to see Shingo pitch. Some people thought I was being 100 pct sincere. BTW, nice to see a member of Group 4 coming back! When I read that post, the Shingo comment is what immediately came to mind.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 03:05 PM) If we're unable to resign PK now because we gave Widger more than minimum wage, KW should be fired! You can't tell me Leo Daigle couldn't be a catcher! You really shouldn't do this to yourself, by making these sort of posts you leave yourself open to a s*** load of flaming. If there's no green some people can't pick up on the sarcasm.
  8. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 02:56 PM) Bless you.. Sexy, you obviously don't speak Wite, do you?
  9. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 02:18 PM) YAHTZEE! YOU CAN PUT THAT ONE ON THE BOARD! NOBODY BEATS HIM BECAUSE HE'S THE WIDGE! f*** YEAH!
  10. OMG! BREAKING SOX NEWS!!!!!!! CHRIS MOTHER f***ING WIDGER IS COMMING BACK!! YESS! I AM f***ING PUMPED!!
  11. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 01:43 PM) So then you think all the talk about Giles and the Tribe is BS...... I think the Tribe will pursue Giles as much as any other team will (Cubbies of course) but Giles will end up staying on the West Coast, especially if Kevin Towers is replaced sometime soon with someone more competent.
  12. QUOTE(Irishsox1 @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 01:39 PM) Who cares?....Why even bother to post that? If you have nothing to add why Sports Illustrated left the White Sox championship off there cover, then don't reply. Who Cares?
  13. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 12:13 AM) Yes well Rob Pettiti ain't really inspiring anyone so far with his play. Let's see if we can make sumthin of him. He's accomplished 2 things in his pro career: 1.) Managed to take a good amount of $ from the Bears while starting 7 games over 3 seasons. 2.) Blocked a FG vs the Titans last year. Which lead to a game winning safety in OT for the Bears.
  14. Just to let everyone know, there's less than a 5% chance of Giles leaving the west coast and less than a 1% chance of him ending up with the Sox. I wouldn't include him in any plans for this offseason.
  15. "No, I will not take a picture with you, you wouldn't kiss my foot. So f*** you!" How delightful.
  16. QUOTE(hi8is @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 01:00 PM) that leads me to believe that we will offer paulie the 5th year if another team comes in with it. 5yrs/$65M from the Sox would not shock me one bit.
  17. QUOTE(hi8is @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 12:57 PM) that seems right what did he get from detroit? 5yrs-$75M = $15M per. it includes 2 option years so Ordonez could make up to $105M total.
  18. QUOTE(hi8is @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 12:49 PM) someone refresh my memory... what did we offer maggs and what did he sign with detroit for? i know we made the right decission with him, i just want to see the numbers again was it 5/60 and 6/72? I thought it was something like 5yrs/$14per that we offered him but my memory on the subject is kind of weak.
  19. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 12:45 PM) For most sports a ton of people get them, i think baseball is the most generous... but i think, not 100% sure, that there's two types often. One is for players and main on field personel that is fully blinged out, then the second is still nice and expensive, just not as lavish, and that's for a lot of the other staff The Players and major members of the front office usually get the $10K/a piece rings while the fulltime employees get cheaper versions.
  20. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 12:47 PM) Money says you'll be taking a week or so off. Jason laying down the law. It's a beautiful thing.
  21. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 12:42 PM) Works for me!!!! Although, I don't think they'll give anything away that can be thrown on the field. Speaking of rings... The ticket rep we get our group tickets through said that he gets a ring? He said all the full time employees do. I find that kinda hard to believe , but I guess it's possible. Can anyone confirm? Steff? When a team has a rediculous WS drought like the White Sox have and you have a genorous owner like JR, you'll see things like this happen. The Janitors recieved rings last year when the BoSox won, I don't doubt that a full-time employee like a ticket rep would recieve one.
  22. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 12:26 PM) Yup. Agree completely. I shouldn't have used "you" in my post -- I quoted your post, but just to second it. The "you" was directed at the guy you (yes, you) quoted. Hope that was understood. Yeah, I understood your intentions.
  23. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 12:07 PM) BMac41 doesn't seem to understand this. Every fan would love to believe that a good player that has been with their team for a while wants to stay in that city and continue to play for that team at a discounted price. Some people are able to convince themselves that this is the case where as others are able to understand that this is generally not the case.
